Udon Entertainment has unveiled the standard cover art for Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Legends Timelines issue #1. Following the visual theme established by Mega Man Timelines and Mega Man X Timelines #1, each cover features its respective protagonist set against a backdrop of familiar villains.
Notably, the Mega Man ZX cover has undergone a significant revision since its initial preview, with Vent's face now more closely resembling the original character design.
Here’s a quick rundown of who's who and when to expect each issue:
- Mega Man Zero Timelines #1 (July 2025) Story: Ian Flynn - Art: Hanzo Steinbach
- Mega Man ZX Timelines #1 (August 2025) Story: Matt Moylan - Art: Dax Gordine
- Mega Man Legends Timelines #1 (September 2025) Story: David Oxford - Art: Mic Fong
That Zx cover...yikes.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Vent didn't look great before, but he looks weird in a different way now.
DeleteI don't really know a lot about his personality given I have no interest in the ZX series, but I got the impression it's more serious than whatever he looks like he's got going on.
It looks like something out of Ben 10 or something
DeleteNow that I think of it, ZXA with the A-Trans is basically Ben 10. Even the names sound like Ben 10 aliens!
DeleteThey got Leganchor's headshot wrong too. The large skull part is actually his chest and his head doesn't have a purple divider between his eye holes. If you compare the in-game headshot portrait with the one on the cover, it's more obvious.

ReplyDeleteI just realized that we may get a decent look at normal Copy X. It's gonna be fun to see which design they land on since it's so inconsistent.
ReplyDeleteI assume they'll consult the full rotatable 3D model from X DiVE for the design.
DeleteHah, they clearly didn’t have Legends in mind when they decided on this cover type: it’s 2/3s Servbots! Like, they couldn’t even put Juno? Boss-type Reaverbots?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the story will just be focused on Volnutt vs the Bonnes
DeleteI mean, I doubt the 20XX, Zero, and ZX issues have all the characters pictured. And we basically know the X issue is focused on X at Chill Penguin’s stage.
Deletetrue, I do hope they aren't all just retellings of each series' first games, that'd be kind of lame
DeleteI didn't think these would get worse... geez...
ReplyDelete*Roll Caskett has left the chat* the cover is still cool though.
ReplyDeleteAm I crazy, or is that Zero art style…kinda good…? (Although the ZX one is horrifying)
ReplyDeleteNaw, you're not crazy. It looks bretty gud.
DeleteIt definitely has the most fidelity to the official style of the “stage select” covers. 20XX and X I think are cool interpretations though. Legends is okay, kinda generic. ZX drew the short straw, which is expected.
DeleteI feel bad for ZX fans. Bad cover art on top of a horrible person being the writer. Zero fans lucked out for sure.
ReplyDeleteUnless his views affect his work, I don't really think it matters.
DeleteYou need to get off social media.
DeleteFWIW, I think the Venn diagram of ZX fans who are also Zero fans is a circle.
DeleteAnd well, if the *cover* looks bad, it’ll be interesting to see how the same artist manages an entire issue…
If the story is crap, that's what really matters imo. Mediocre art can be forgiven if the story is good, but with Ian Flynn writing for the Zero one, I wouldn't count on it.
DeleteI don't know how well Matt Moylan writes, however.
