Over the years, we've seen several articulated Mega Man figures, and now Three Zero is joining the lineup with their MDLX Mega Man. How does it stack up against other versions of the character? Stick around as I break down everything this figure has to offer!

"Boxed and ready."As much as I like Kotobukiya, Bandai, and Jada, it's refreshing to see a new company try their hand at a Mega Man figure, especially when it's something as high-quality as the MLDX Mega Man from Three Zero. With his shiny armor and several points of articulation, this guy can do a lot. While most of your movement is going to be coming from the upper portion of the figure, the lower half can still do a lot. Though the upper legs around the underwear are slightly limited, you won't have to try too hard getting Mega Man to run, jump, shoot, slide. The weight of the figure is impressive, and insures that it will have no trouble standing with most of the weight coming from the legs.
How does Three Zero's Mega Man stack up to other offerings? While Jada's Mega Man is meant to represent the art of the 8-bit title, the MLDX Mega Man is closer to the Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8 era, much like the old Bandai D-Arts figure. This one may be lacking a smiling face like the others, but there's no mistake that this is Mega Man.
The MLDX Mega Man comes with two sets of hands, fists and open-palm hands, two faces, stern and teeth-gritted, a Buster that can attach to either arm, a charge shot effect, and an E-Tank. The hands and faces switch out with no problem at all. The open hand is the perfect size for holding an E-Tank or a Buster. The charge shot piece is a clear blue plastic that looks really nice in person.
The tip of the Buster can be removed to slot the charge shot effect piece in, but mine had an issue with this. Please keep in mind that this seems to be a one-off fluke with the copy I received, but it would be dishonest not to explain. No matter what I try, the shot part will not stay on the Buster. when I removed the end of the Buster, it was hollow inside, so the effect piece has nothing to attach to. Again, this seems to only be an issue with mine, because every other review I have seen has no issue getting this piece to attach. I fully admit that I may be doing something wrong, but after hours of trying, I have to conclude that I am missing something. It's really a bummer, because I genuinely love the look of the charge shot effect piece. If I learn that this was just user error, I will update the review. I must also add that HobbyLink Japan's customer support was extremely helpful during this ordeal.
The biggest miss with this figure is, regrettably, the faces, with the biggest offender is the teeth-gritted face. The eyes were not changed at all to make the look more angry. This face just makes Mega Man look very unsure rather than determined or ready to take action. Unlike X's helmet, Mega Man's is shaped in a way that does not substitute eyebrows. It is worth saying that at certain angles, this face looks good, but at most, it comes across as more awkward than anything. While the stern face is just fine, both faces also share an issue, it's one of those "once you notice it" things, so sorry if I ruin it for you. The eyes on both faces have "shadows" painted on the tops in a blue color. From far away, these shadows make the eyes looks like they have the Elec Man-style eyeshadow.
Ending on a fun note, the legs are magnetic! All that heft in the legs is there for a reason, and that's to make Mega Man a bit more fun. The magnets feel pretty strong, so consider finding a fun place to station your Mega Man, just keep him away from your computer and other electronic devices.
All-in-all, I'd say this Mega Man is a good purchase. While it may have it's hiccups here and there, the overall presentation and price-point make it worth it. This one isn't Three Zero's only try with Mega Man; they are also releasing a Fire Storm and a Metal Blade Mega Man. They also have their own take on X coming, so keep an eye out for that.
love mine bit small tho
