Philip Summers, an artist known his hand-illustrated guides for classic '80s video games, is launching a Kickstarter for a brand-new project: an officially licensed Mega Man 1 game guide!
Philip's previous Kickstarter campaign for Hand-Drawn Game Guides made waves a few years back, raising over $322,000 from more than 4,700 backers. Unfortunately, that campaign had to be canceled due to licensing issues. Now, after three years of refining his craft, he’s partnered with Nintendo Force and Capcom to publish an brand-new strategy guide for Mega Man 1—everything is 100% official this time.
Love how this looks, it reminds me of old-school 90s video game magazines. Would love to own one.
ReplyDeleteHm... I know what he's trying to do but I'm not feeling it.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm being honest, Cut Man freaks me out. Everything else is pretty good - I can tell he's done this sort of work before.
DeleteNeat.
ReplyDeleteRetro cool!
ReplyDeleteReally cool stuff. That interpretation of Cut Man’s Stage is downright beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! :)
DeleteAfter how insane the later Robot Masters got with their designs, it's easy to forget how the original six were all designed as utility bots with specific functions in construction/land development.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. It’s why Bond Man is way cooler than Time Man (Oil Man is okay, at least conceptually).
DeleteThis art ain't it.
ReplyDeleteHe'd better be starting the player with Bomb Man, or else he's WRONG, lol.
ReplyDeleteWell it looks like Guts Man was already beat at least. Gotta use that weakness while you can!
DeleteThis is well made and it could be a good tool to get children interested... back in 1987. Now it'll just be a collector's item. Maybe the design and style aren't the best, but for an American adaptation this is really good and I wouldn't mind it much if this was the cover.
