Over the weekend at Singapore Comic Con, Threezero unveiled a prototype for their latest MDLX Mega Man variant: Metal Blade! This figure showcases a new battle-ready face design and the iconic Metal Blade itself. Although not officially confirmed, it appears the Metal Blade is attached to the Mega Man's hand as an accessory, similar to the standard figure’s interchangeable hand parts and Mega Buster.
Details on price, release date, and availability were not revealed at the event, but updates are likely coming soon.

always with the metal blades
ReplyDeleteAh, again with the squeaky shoes.
DeleteOf course we get more recolors already. How much longer until we get the inevitable Zero?
ReplyDeleteOn one hand: Smash Bros. Metal Blade. On the other: that’s actually closer to the in-game graphics which I usually prefer over artwork.
ReplyDeleteHope he comes with a non-hand attached Metal Blade. I wouldn’t even mind leaving out the buster for that.
I'll stick with Jada.
ReplyDeleteThey are really milking this figure when the blue version literally just released. How about making more characters like Bass, Protoman, Roll, Dr Light, Auto, Rush? Or some enemies?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with that idea. I would totally want to see the characters that you listed as figurines.
Delete@Ash, Especially when there aren’t very many figures of those characters in general. Don’t get me wrong I love Mega Man but I don’t need 10,000 variants of classic.
DeleteI get metal blade is iconic but the color pallet is kinda ugly honestly, that aside it doesn’t really bring anything the other 2 versions didn’t already do, like if they want people to buy another mega man mix it up a little at least
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice recolor but I'm not interested in classic series stuff tbh. I hope after they make Zero that they make Vile as well (I also hope they make a Zero series version of Zero).
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I’d want a X1 zero and X3 Vile?
DeleteOne that's properly engineered for the first one would be pretty nice. A Vile would be nice, too. Don't think we've gotten anything noteworthy since the D-Arts Toys R Us exclusive released some time ago?
DeleteUnless you include the 4inch one with the ride armor. Both of them are rather expensive now, iirc. I managed to get the D-Arts one second-hand but didn't have a lot of luck with the other one.
Delete@rs proto, other than the d arts all we've gotten for vile was the action 66 mini figure which is honestly still a pretty awesome little figure.
Deleteyeah I mentioned that. Unfortunately at this point they're all crazy expensive for how tiny they are. I only have X.
DeleteI ordered the 4inch Vile cuz I'm a sucker. 70-something dollars, and it's not the most expensive in the line. RIP me.
DeleteI saw Vile's ride armor for sale at an anime store, picked it up. The price for that is cheaper now than Vile himself is, and that's ignoring the blind box nonsense.
DeleteI think I am just gonna 3D print one at some point. Screw it. I'd rather not spend $70 for a tiny ass figure that does not look very good.
@shrap Dang that kinda sucks. I remember the ride armor not being cheap, somehow.
DeleteNow if only the libraries around here had 3D printing facilities.
I think when I bought the armor it was $60 or thereabouts... It was overpriced but whatever.
DeleteI guess Vile by comparison, at this stage, is a little pricey. Sometimes cheaper, sometimes higher. Again, only going for the open ones.
@shrap the action 66 minifigures were not blind boxes. which character is in the box is written on the top of it.
DeleteIf you have access to SEE the box top, sure.
DeleteYou know the sales team is skilled af when the video games sell with the same strategy as the merch. That or the fan base never learns. 🔁
ReplyDeleteDidn’t really work for Sentinel, though.
DeleteThose Sentinel figures were way too expensive for what they were.
DeleteI really wish they make more characters, I know this can attract certain people that likes MegaMan alt forms but C,mon there are many characters that they can make first than beginning to make Alternatives early, hopefully this doesn't kill the brand licensing if they don't reach the sales that they expect for these, the same thing happens with Kotobukiya with X's alternative colors with the attack effects that I feel they doesn't sell well even having the extra parts that can be sold separately.
ReplyDeleteYeah, as much as I love getting Mega Man figures I am honestly kinda sick of all the recolors instead of doing more characters. That's why I really like the Jada line because at least they are throwing some robot masters into the line, though I could do without the Mega Man recolors there as well.
DeleteI'm happy for those who want it. I find megaman recolors tend to kill the line faster. Maybe it's just me.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just you, they definitely don't do any favors for lines.
DeleteI wanna talk about the repaint issue, which I see a lot on figure news. It’s unfortunate, but it’s really a necessary evil. They’re cheaper than a new sculpt, and casual fans would be more interested in Mega Man than Bomb Man, even if it’s a green Mega Man. The fact that they’re weapon variants at all is already a compromise. Look at similar lines like Sonic and Halo, and every wave has a version of Sonic and Master Chief who don’t even change much.
ReplyDeleteThough it does kinda suck that Jada only has 3 figures per wave (and yes, this comment is more about Jada than Threezero lmao).
It's not "necessary" by any means.
DeleteRepaints are not necessary for a line, as for you bringing up the Sonic line as a example all I have to say to that is there’s a reason why in stores it’s 95% Sonics rotting on store shelves and it’s because people buy the other characters and pass on the sonic variants. Mega Man is no different, the repaints have never been all that popular.
Delete@1:41
DeleteI think that stock of the main character is what stores want though. If it wasn’t, then they’d stop ordering the waves. Though honestly, with the toy market slowly but surely dying, I think more lines will migrate to online exclusive. Maybe at that point they could cut out the filler?
I suppose the issue is that there are 11 games with 8 robot masters per game. That's 88 recolors they could do. Granted they tend to use the same color schemes for each but, it's more the powers people care about them the colors even if there are some I do like.
DeleteThe re-colors don't even make any sense... They release Fire Man and Ice Man, then Cut Man and Elec Man and HYPER BOMB.... Without releasing either Bomb Man... Or Guts Man. Then the next one they wanna do is Gemini Laser? Did they announce Needle Man? Nope.
DeleteHelmet less Mega Man I half understand (it's a cheap move, but I understand it). Rush Mega Man I fully understand. But other than those two... The brand will never, ever, get to the remaining 88 (+GBA bosses) palette swaps.
Not to mention, if they keep doing one Mega Man per wave, they will eventually attempt things like battle damaged Mega Man, Pre-Mega Man Rock, Black and White Mega Man... etc before doing a palette swap.
One thing I would like them to make is Crash Man. With optional hands. That would make me laugh.
about sonic stock in stores. I've heard that retailers are required to purchase so many of the main character relative to other characters.
Deletelike, for sonic, it might be a requirement from the toy manufacturer or sega sammy themselves that they purchase 1 sonic for every other character. I think it might be more related to pushing the iconic character from the brand.
