Capcom has released an update for the Steam versions of both volumes of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, primarily addressing behind-the-scenes adjustments. Unfortunately, the update has unintentionally taken the game's online functionality offline. Multiplayer battles, online trades, and other online features—including the ability to earn a specific completion star in BN2— have been down since yesterday, with no word from Capcom on the issue so far.
Fortunately, there are a couple of things you can do while waiting for an official fix. First, if you haven’t updated the game yet, head to your Steam settings and turn off auto-updates. Second, if your copy has already been updated, you can use a quick workaround. Prof9 has shared the following tip:
- Open the Steam Console by pressing Win+R and entering steam://open/console.
- Run these commands:
- Volume 1: download_depot 1798010 1798011 6583874429443952093
- Volume 2: download_depot 1798020 1798021 7279312862268001028
- Once the files are downloaded, copy them over the game’s local files.
This should get the online functionality back up and running. We’ll keep you posted as soon as Capcom provides an official fix.
Really bad considering one of the stars in BN2 requires you to do online battles
ReplyDeleteA tip about how to avoid Steam updates:
ReplyDelete1. Right click any game in your library you don't want to update and click properties in the menu that pops up. Go into the Updates tab and set Automatic Updates to "Only update this game when I launch it".
2. Make a digital backup of the game(s) you want to keep from updating on the version you want to keep them on.
3. When an update is available, go ahead and let it update.
4. When the update is finished, replace the files with the backup you made before.
After doing this process, you can now play the game on Steam without being forced to update. If you decide you want an updated build after all for some reason such as modding compatibility or etc. just go back into the properties menu from before, go into the installed files tab, and then click the button to verify the files are installed correctly. It will then compare your installation to their records of the most updated version and when it detects the mismatch it will replace the necessary files with the updated versions.
The fact that Steam even ATTEMPTS to require updates before playing a game is a joke. I get using online features, but there is no excuse for merely launching if you intend to play single player.
DeleteOh No! Anyway
ReplyDeleteAnyway what?

DeleteThat's basically another way of saying, "I don't care".
@Anonymous (December 3, 2024 at 2:12 PM)
DeleteIt's a meme. Basically, the "anyway…" is meant to completely invalidate the "oh, no!"
Think of it like the old saying, "And nothing of value was lost."
It's a meme people use when they want to express the idea that they don't care.
Delete@2:12 PM Different anon here, it's a meme phrase that is meant to represent the fact the person saying it doesn't care. It's as though they were in the middle of a conversation and you just told them the news, and then they reply "Oh No!" Anyway" and get right back to their conversation as though it never happened.
DeleteWell that’s a fucky wucky

DeleteNo, I meant Watch your language!
DeleteAs the saying goes, "oopsie poopsie".
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall a Windows 10 update literally made the computer unusable until Windows 10 was reinstalled. Now, that was a catastrophe. And this is exactly why I disable automatic updates (where possible) and don't grab updates as soon as they're available.
So THIS is how I find out I have to online battle to get everything for EXE2
