New Secret Level Trailer Features Mega Man and Dr. Light

A new trailer for Secret Level, Amazon's animated anthology series of video game-inspired stories, has been released, giving us another glimpse of Mega Man and Dr. Light.

The trailer shows a quick glimpse of Mega Man blown back by a fiery explosion, likely following an attack on the lab. Soon after, Dr. Light shares some encouraging words before suiting him up for battle, in a scene visually reminiscent of a moment from a certain movie. The trailer wraps up with a shot on Mega Man holding his helmet, smiling at the viewer.

For the uninitiated, the Mega Man episode has previously been described as an origin story, so don’t expect an immediate follow-up. However, if the show does well, Tim Miller and his team are eager to develop a second season.

Secret Level, along with the Mega Man episode itself, will premiere on Prime Video on December 10th.

  1. This actually looks kinda fire

  2. Still don't love the designs.

But I have to admit, I'm a sucker for anything that puts Dr. Light in the "father" role. Hope it's good.

  3. Dr. Light be saying facts! I'm really gonna enjoy the Mega Man episode!

  4. Looks promising! Armor design choices aside, it seems like they might be giving us a pretty compelling (and faithful) origin story, and some of Tim Miller's thoughts on how he views source material give me hope.

Honestly, if they nail the core of the story and what makes MM so special for fans, I can live with some divergences in other departments. Other media that also took some liberty with the look-and-feel have come to be loved by fans over the years, so I suspect this could easily be the same if they do it right.

  5. Looks promising. Imagine if they had all the games have a crossover for the final episode lol

  6. They turned Mega Man into Ironman.

    1. …I hadn’t considered that, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.

Though considering his son is also cast, I assumed they would be in paired roles. Maybe Patrick could be Mega Man? Arnold definitely isn’t Light going from this new trailer.

    2. Or if any Robot Masters show up, perhaps he could be Guts Man?

    3. Y'all do realize the cast list is also for other episodes that aren't bout mega man right?

    4. *I* do. Frankly, I don’t expect any of the headliners to be in the Mega Man episode. Reeves is already confirmed as John Armored Core.

    5. This wouldn't be the first time the protagonist of an Armored Core related medium has a voice, there's a single line in the original game which is the only time the protagonist of any game has spoken.

    6. I’m curious which line you’re talking about. My best guess would be in the cutscene after Mop Up Chrome Remnants, though I always thought that was a random citizen.

    7. Lol "John Armored Core".

    8. "So you are the scum who attacked the train...
      Now's a good time.
      Let's settle this right now!"

    9. Hmm, I never considered that could be the player Raven. It’s generally understood that’s Wildcat’s line (he says “one who protected the train” in Japanese), but I’ve also seen it interpreted as the announcer, so it’s plausible for the English version.

    10. In Japanese the dialogue is "You are that train's ......" It's unfinished so it could be either way although it would make sense for it to be protector.

    11. It really depends on if the Japanese staff told the translators if the omitted word was attacker or they made it up.

    12. idk about Ahnold. I'd say Scott McNeil for obvious reasons.

    13. I haven't heard McNeil's voice in along time come to think of it, which stinks cause he's got a great voice and great skill.

    14. F’real, Scott McNeil is a legend. Man did *four* roles in Beast Wars and knocked ‘em outta the park.

    15. @Megatron X

He did some voices at a convention maybe 7 years ago. I don't think he can do Proto Man anymore, but his Dr. Wily is still fine.

    16. I mainly hope he'd voice in Transformers again, all of his voices there were great! I also kinda wanna see him play Venom at some point cause I feel like he could do that character well. Of course if he doesn't want to anymore that's alright too.

    17. I could definitely imagine his Dinobot voice coming out of Venom.

Also Gary Chalk was the best Optimus voice, and only getting Cullen and Cullen impressions since 2010 is a shame (it’s bad when Chris Hemsworth is the breath of fresh air).

    18. I was thinking something like his Piccolo or Wolverine voice would be good for Venom, but something similar to Dinobot would work too.

I like both Cullen and Chalk equally, I think Cullen is great as a more "older" Optimus (I especially love his performance in the live action films) and Chalk is great as a more "middle aged" Optimus (and Optimus Primal of course). It definitely sucks that we keep getting Cullen impressions though, like just give Optimus a different voice when the actual Peter Cullen is unavailable, because the impressions always sound so off.

  8. Ahh, I'm looking forward to this! Might be the best MegaMan meal I've gotten in a minute. And Dr. Light looking nice too.

  9. I just noticed the large yellow robot from the screenshot that got released is visible in the trailer. It has red accents across its legs and arms, so perhaps it’s supposed to be Guts Man?

  10. Space marine is the only thing I care about. It's been so nice letting go of MegaMan I'm not disapointed everyday of my life anymore lol. Looks like garbage anyways.

    1. Yet here you are on a Mega Man fansite commenting. I will agree with you that it looks bad though.

    2. You have every right to comment I guess, but coming to a Megaman fan-site just to thrash the IP? Why not just go to a Space Marine fan-site and praise the series there? You get off hating the Megaman brand or something?

    3. That's cool bro. Glad you're living your life not focused on mega man AT ALL!/s. Seriously, for a user who says they let go you sure do love coming back, huh? 🤣

    4. Sour grapes, maybe? Who even knows.

    5. the fuck is space mairine? so bad never heard bout till now

    6. @4:22 AM: A space marine is a type of soldier from the Warhammer 40k series. They're like big armored cyborgs from what I recall. There have also been games that star the space marines, which is why they are given an episode in this series.

    1. Pretty sure they made the episode before the game was released and subsequently flopped.

    2. They jumped the gun on that one, didn't they?

      Delete
    3. Not only did they jump it, they played Leap Frog with the gun.

    4. It’d be funny if the episode renewed interest in the game enough to bring it back online. Probably not though, since hero shooters are poo poo doo doo.
