Here's a new screenshot from the upcoming Mega Man episode of Secret Level, courtesy of Rolling Stone. The scene shows Dr. Light handing Mega Man (or "Rock"? We’re still not sure what Secret Level will call his pre-Mega Man form) a device. We also have a clear look at Mega Man’s casual outfit—a loose, blue shirt with gold trim. If you look closely, you’ll notice the construction of his arm, suggesting they’re leaning toward a more “doll-like” design for the human parts.
In the background, there’s a towering robot with yellow legs and orange feet. Given that this episode will serve as something of an origin story, could it be hinting at a larger-than-life version of the Robot Masters? Bomb Man, perhaps? Cut Man?
We'll have more to share on the Mega Man episode soon. Secret Level premieres exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on December 10th.

I assume the towering robot is supposed to be the Yellow Devil
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty good guess!
Deleteif that's gamma in the background and this is somehow a mm3 story I will die happy
ReplyDeleteYeah I was thinking it could be gamma too
DeleteGAMMA
ReplyDeleteLooking nice.
ReplyDeleteLol, wouldn't be surprised if that's Airman in the background.
Looking forward to watching this.
That's way too big to be Airman.
DeleteThat's never stopped people from trying to get "creative" with IPs. :U
DeleteMy bet is that it’s Yellow Devil. I’ve gotta say, MegaMan has me jaded, but this is exciting, even if not official. My heart is with the fan entries, but I’m extremely concerned with the recent attacks on emulators and ROMs in general, as well as the ability and sources to download them.
ReplyDeleteThey look alright to me, Light kinda looks like Santa lol. I am curious who the big robot in the background is, maybe the Yellow Devil? Or Bomb Man (he's pretty big)?
ReplyDeleteLight's always been Santa in a lab coat.
DeleteLight has always looked like this, kinda surprised they kept his design mostly accurate.
DeletePretty much lol
DeleteDr. Light looks pretty all right.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with that Dr. Light. But that just does not look like Mega Man to me. If you showed me this without context, I could see the scientist looking like Dr. Light. But I would not recognize that guy as Mega Man.
ReplyDeleteIs it the hairstyle? RS Mega Man had a blue shirt, at least.
DeleteWell duh, that's Rock not Mega Man, goofy 🤪.
DeleteThe hairstyle and face I think. There's just nothing about it that makes me think it's him.
DeleteI get adjustments for adaptations, but it just reads too generic to me. I don't really get the point of using something iconic if it's not going to be recognizable. I mean, any character can wear a blue shirt. That's not enough to evoke the idea of "Mega Man" in my mind.
Not that it really matters either way I guess. It's a one off adaptation.
The first time Rock was shown without his battle armor, he was wearing a grey shirt and a red 23 in the official comic by Inafune that came in Rockman Character Collection.
DeleteAnyone get Toonami’s “T.O.M.” Vibes here or just me?
ReplyDeleteReading the Rolling Stone article, this show's staff would gel well with the general moribund mood of this site's comments sections (and the sentiments at the Unreal Tournament message board UT99.org of being at the acceptance stage of the five stages of grief about their series having been murdered by Fortnite):
ReplyDelete"[Tim] Miller notes the irony publishing the episode of [Concord] that no longer exists but draws a comparison to other games in the series, like Mega Man or Unreal Tournament, which are essentially dead franchises themselves, with no future games on the horizon."
Kinda speaks volumes, even if people don't wanna acknowledge it.
DeleteFinally, official confirmation Mega Man is dead! :p
DeleteBut yeah, with those 3 in particular (20% of the series), it feels a bit like a “museum of failure.” Armored Core would be in the same boat if this came out a few years sooner (though I’m sure it’s only included *because* of VI).
Gotta say, Light’s looking a little freaky here. The realistic face and big hand kinda skeeves me out. You know something’s up when the human is more uncanny than the android!
ReplyDeleteMy money’s on the background robot being a variant of the Yellow Devil. I really doubt it’s Gamma (his legs are usually red or blue), and while it could be a giant Robot Master, I’m skeptical they’d make them that big.
Light looks perfectly fine. What are you on about?
DeleteI don’t think it’s the Yellow Devil since he’s pretty much known for his gelatinous state. I wouldn’t be surprised the show makes the Robot Masters huge to present a contrast between them and Mega Man.
ReplyDeleteThe real question is why does the giant robot’s foot have “PUSH” written on its side?
Hey, wait a minute. I just realized something. This interpretation of Mega Man seems to fit the ideas lain out by the remix band, "The Megas". I wonder if that was intentional?
ReplyDeleteOooooh good idea!
DeleteDefinitely gamma. It says push on the side of his leg. This is looking to be some mega man 3 stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe robot master in the background could be Gutsman, he's the biggest of the 6, makes sense for him to be absolutely massive
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, it could be one of the yellow, mass produced Guts Men from MM1 Wily stage 4. I think that would be the coolest possibility.
DeleteI don't remember what fan project it was, but I remember one where Dr. Wily attacked the city with a truly giant Gutsman. It's not the Blue Core Studios fan movie… Might've been a short film. I wish I could remember.
DeleteIn any case, if that's supposed to be Gutsman, then maybe this project is picking and choosing from other projects of the past.
The screenshot of both Dr. Light and Rock look ok. I'm calling it right now that in the background is yellow devil. Also, I have an idea for my OC's casual look to fit this series.
ReplyDeleteIs this a movie, comic, game?
ReplyDeleteA single episode in an animated series.
