Mega Man Theme "Dr. Wily Stage 1" Coming to Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival

Rhythm game Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is set for a big re-release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PCs later this fall, packed with new content. One surprising addition is Dr. Wily Stage 1 from Mega Man 2. Players can rock out to the classic theme alongside a Takio no Tatsujin-ified Mega Man, who looks right at home with the game's art style.

Other new tracks include Monster Hunter: World (World Medley), Persona 5 (Last Surprise), and Pac-Man (Join the Pac). While Last Surprise is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version, Dr. Wily Stage 1 theme and other songs will be available across all platforms.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam on November 7, 2024.

  1. From a business standpoint, it wouldn't make any sense to promote a franchise as densely as they have been recently with Mega Man unless they're campaigning to widen awareness of the franchise ahead of the announcement of a major new product within said franchise. Businesses simply just don't waste time and money promoting something this much if they're not actually going to use the IP for something.

    1. One would hope that they have some sort of plan for a future new game with all this cross-promotion.

    2. I hope so. X appearing in Project X Zone was enough proof for me that Mega Man is dead and Mega Man was comformed for smash in 2013. Also, I think Smash 4 had something to do with Mega Mans subtle redesign in MM11 like how brawl gave Pit his new look in uprising and smash 4 gave Roy his look in echoes.

    3. There has been plenty of awareness of the franchise after the collections and MM11, this is just Capcom trolling at this point.

    4. Stuff like this costs Capcom nothing, they're not wasting time and money by simply licensing a song from one of their franchises. In fact, they're likely being paid some type of royalty fee.

Licensing dormant IPs to everyone under the sun to make money with minimal overhead is what Capcom does best.

    1. It really sucks, and if Capcom really doesn't want to make a new Mega Man game then how about finish porting over the rest of the games that haven't been in any modern collections. It wouldn't be that hard to do.

  5. I keep waiting in every gaming event for an announcement, a teaser, something. It is so sad.

    1. You won't be disappointed if you don't have any expectations from Capcom in the first place.

  6. The first comment hits the nail on the head to me, they wouln´t be making any promossions if they didn´t have faith in the product
