Another day, another Jada Toys reveal. The third figure from Mega Man Wave 4 just made an appearance at Comic-Con. To my surprise and delight, it's Proto Man!
There are no other details available at the moment, but we can deduce that he’ll come with a removable shield and an alternate Buster hand part. I’m hoping for an alternate Break Man head... but we’ll see.
So that's Wave 4 for you. Gemini Laser Mega Man, Snake Man and Proto Man. We should be hearing about a release window and distribution plans soon. Stay tuned!

This is great news, I've been hoping for a Proto man figure. My only gripe is I think they should have just gone ahead and made a Gemini Man figure instead of another Mega Man recolor.

DeleteIt looks like soft pvc to me, which I'm not thrilled with. It gets sticky when it starts to deteriorate.

DeleteSeveral other Jada figures (Universal Monsters) have fabric clothing and/or accessories, and I think this is pretty obviously fabric in the photo. The final product will very likely have a fabric scarf. I also don't think this is a final production figure, so the scarf will likely change a bit, and I am hoping that change is a wire inside so it can be posed.
DeleteYeah the texture looked like fabric when I zoomed in on the photo. An upgrade from the old Ruby-Spears strange plastic sheet, for sure.

ReplyDeleteUnexpected. I was personally hoping Proto Man/Bass could be a Mega Man equivalent in some waves, but this will do fine. Hope the scarf has *some* motion.
ReplyDeleteBreak Man head would be cool, but I’d kinda rather a visor that at least tries to have the “sheen” you usually see in sprites and artwork. That’s basically Proto Man’s eyes.
The visor lools like its translucent plastic.
DeleteIt sort of does, @shrap, good observation. It definitely looks like a separate piece of plastic inset into the head.
DeleteIt also looks like maybe the "smirk" is a separate piece, so that could be how we get Break Man; maybe that part of the head can be swapped with the Break Man mask and probably a whistling mouth. That configuration doesn't account for Break Man's altered ear bits though.
I hope the production model ends up with a really dark but translucent visor.
The visor does look really shiny actually. Alright, I’ll let ‘em off for that.

Yeah, it could be the lighting, but it does look like he's missing his nose. Hopefully that gets fixed.

YouTube channel "A Toy Kinda Mood" just posted an interview with Juhn from Jada, and they zoomed-in on Proto Man so that his nose was visible. It's pretty small, like Mega Man's, but it's there, so that other photo where he looks like he has no nose was just a result of the bright/direct lighting.
