Yes of course I am going to support the almost undisputed best artist to ever grace Rockman/Mega Man.
ReplyDeleteWoah I'm looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteThat artstyle gives that Studio Trigger vibes. That artist is god than others, he should to work for Studio Trigger to making an anime of this! X3 (sorry if I am a Cloudcuckoolander for Trigger 💧)
ReplyDeleteIs the website down for anyone else to order these?
ReplyDeleteThat is giving a bit of My Hero Academia vibe
ReplyDeleteWhat ? No way! I dont liked it. American comic style ? UGH! Japan version looks so much better!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Japanophile among us, folks.
DeleteWe have a ridiculous statement is what we have... How does anyone look at that image and think literally "American comic"? Like the art couldn't get more ANIME if it tried. The American comic thing was more of a suggestion on aspects incorporated into the very clearly BLATANTLY anime style, panel composition and captions and such.
DeleteBetween this and people thinking Cache 1 looks like Frieza, I'm beginning to think Mega Man fans are blind and don't have art/design sense at all.
Sus
DeleteDon't worry OP, it's a gag. They gave Netto muscular abs.
DeleteIt was giving me Andy Warhol x Animu vibes, personally.
DeleteLet me guess Akira Toriyama/Dragon Ball (when they use comic book style shading) looks like an "American comic book" too right? So does My Hero Academia, I'm guessing to you folks.
DeleteAlso animu when used as a reference to artstyle usually means a jank foreigner imitation of anime from a weeb. Just sayin...
To be fair on the cache argument, the design of the head along with the pose of the character was pretty similar to what I and other Dragon Ball fans have seen in Frieza before. As he has been in the public eye for many years, It shouldn’t be surprising that when Mega Man fans saw Cache, many quickly turned to Frieza first before thinking of Jiren: I myself freely admit I’m not familiar with Jiren as I haven’t seen the latest Dragon Ball series except through random clips on YouTube.

DeleteNot in my experience, it doesn't.
It's a self-deprecating term for some anime fans. I've never seen any of the quasi-anime/manga stuff referred to as animu.
Delete@Anonymous June 28, 2024 at 12:05 AM
DeleteDifferent anon, blame Mizuno Keisuke for naming it "アメコミスタイル" - Americomisutairu short for American Comic Style including description from the shop "「ロックマンエグゼ」シリーズのキャラクターたちがアメコミ風にデザインされたグッズが新登場!" "New merchandise featuring characters from the 'Rockman Exe' series designed in the style of American comics is now available!".
@Tiny Proto Man
Correct, never read it in a different context.
*Amekomisutairu
DeleteY'all are gettin' mad over nothin'.
DeleteWhy would someone blame Keisuke Mizuno for other peoples blindness and lack of art sense? All someone has to do is look at the dang artwork to see he doesn't mean literally American comic book style he means a play on American comic book features inspiring it, if they have any contextual awareness and comprehension at all.
DeleteIf he said it was Disney cartoons style (cause the eyes were big) as well, would you say blame him for saying that just because a bunch of people started saying "yuck, Disney, I like anime" despite it looking blatantly anime?
Incorrect what you've read or not read isn't proof or heck even evidence.
My last reply to you unfortunately blind and non art sensible people. It will lower my cognitive ability if I keep engaging.
Bye.

DeleteIdk if you're the same anon as the person I responded to previously. This would be the first time I've heard anyone claim 'animu' or 'mango' were references to wannabe-Japanese stuff and not lingo derived from an imageboard. Unless the definition has changed since then, which it doesn't seem to have.
Anyway, this discussion is getting silly.
Someone did make an American-style Mega Man comic parody a while ago. I have no idea if it was a Japanese artist - I saw it on that imageboard some years ago. It was kind of neat and imo did capture the comic book look pretty well.
Japanophile? Is that even a real word?!
Delete"Blind and non art sensitive people" ok buddy.

Delete"he doesn't mean literally"
How would you know he means it according to your concept instead of his?
"Incorrect what you've read or not read isn't proof or heck even evidence."
No, it's exactly evidence because it is in the text.
In your previous comment you wrote: " The American comic thing was more of a suggestion on aspects incorporated into the very clearly BLATANTLY anime style, panel composition and captions and such."
However, the panel composition in this old comic is similar to the right image:

And there are probably other tighter examples.
@Tiny Proto Man
My only comment was 7:35PM and the correction, I'm not the same anon you responded to previously. I was agreeing with you.
@8:42
DeleteOh, okie dokie. Have a great week. :3
@12:51
DeleteOf course it is.
What are you guys talking about? It's just Keisuke's normal anime artstyle with some darker contrasts shadows and some comic panels and captions, that's literally it. End of story, not that complicated.
DeleteThe Mega Man fandom argues about every got dang thing good lord.
"American Comic Book Style".
DeletePeople would rather read headlines and descriptions to understand art, rather than look at it with their own two eyeballs. Haha!
Delete@1:31PM
DeleteDude. It’s 2024. Lay off the sus.
"I can read the mind of the artist and he totally agrees with me".
DeleteUh... People are getting nutty. Tagging themselves. Talking about reading artist's minds for things like an anime by definition artwork in the style of... well an anime, but with some American comic associated but not unique to things. Getting mad at anime looking anime because words told them it looked like an American comic book... Loony...
