Debuting in April 2021 to celebrate Mega Man's 33rd anniversary, "Rockman-san" launched alongside "Rockman-chan" in Young Ace UP magazine. The manga told the story of a world at peace, where a grown-up Rock, now a dentist, works alongside his assistant Roll at their dental clinic. After a successful three-year run, the manga concludes today with the final part of chapter 44.
The final volume collecting the last chapters of Rock's adventures as a dentist will be published in Japan this summer, bringing the series to a total of three volumes. Currently, the manga is only available in Japanese, with no official announcement for an English release. However, you can get a glimpse of this unique story through fan translations available on MangaDex.
There is no word if Rockman-chan will end next week when the next chapter will be published. We'll keep you posted!
Well that's kind of lame, I've been enjoying the manga the last few years.
ReplyDeleteTotally forgot this was a thing.
ReplyDeleteWell all good things must come to an end. I do love the AU take on Mega Man. Hopefully someday they'll release it in English in the public.
ReplyDeleteOh oh nooo... ðŸ˜

ReplyDeleteHope only Studio Trigger will pick both those two mangas, including the all main and spin-off video game franchise and Ariga's adaptations.
DeleteI would mourn for this loss, but I'm okay with this. I mean, wasn't it an ironically serious manga anyway? Maybe now they'll spend more time on something else. I don't know, rhymes with tames, begins with a g?
ReplyDeleteThe people making this manga have absolutely nothing to do with the games, so this effects nothing.
DeleteOf course you are fine with it, a new game is not happening.
Delete@ 5:57 You can’t say that either
DeleteI sure can say that because it’s kind of obvious there won’t be a new game.
DeleteWhatever, it was more bizarre than funny. Ditto for the other one.
ReplyDeleteAll things end eventually. Megaman is winding down and slowly dying, it seems.
ReplyDeleteAs it should. I'm fine with that.
DeleteAre you guys going insane over Megaman’s downfall again?
DeleteJust ignore it. They live in their own narrative and nothing anyone says will ever break them out of it.
DeleteNeither of us are going insane. I feel little to no emotion making that comment and I barely think about MM nowadays. Just stating an observation that has been ongoing for over a decade now. It's funny when random nobodies online pretend to be mind readers. Don't like it, don't respond.
DeleteAnyone who actually pays attention would realize the series has basically been dead for years, rehashed collections and one new game that was released years ago doesn’t make it thriving so Gary is right.
DeleteGary Daniel, to say you barely think about MM is really disingenuous to say especially when you are on a lot of these articles comments
DeleteOh no! It's the mega end times! Everyone ration your games, and mega merch, this is the end!
DeleteNo but seriously comic runs start and end all the time, it doesn't show that the is brand dying it just means it's the end of a side project.
"to say you barely think about MM is really disingenuous"
DeleteI think about it when I open this page and read some comments or see some posts, but I barely think about it vs back then. I thought of it much more 20 years ago. Once again, you don't know my mind, or even my face, and to think you do is what is disingenuous. Feel free to stop at any time.
Dam, people really be coming to a Megaman website just to pray for it's downfall. Really?
DeleteThat's really sad since Capcom only cares Monster Hunter and money without caring its old underrated IPs. 😢
DeleteI think that at worst the series will end up like Darkstalkers, where crossover representation is obligatory but otherwise we get collections, sparingly.
DeleteIt has nothing to do with the manga (which had a good run, and Rockman-chan is still going), but as we are talking about this...
DeleteCapcom knows fans have been waiting for Mega Man Legends 3 for many years, and at this point I no longer care if it is digital only, the gameplay is just a Monster Hunter or Dead Rising reskin with Reaverbots or pirates replacing the monsters or zombies instead of actually being a Legends game, or even just a novel instead of a game. (Just please do not make the same mistake as Breath of Fire 6!)
In the best scenario, Capcom will probably only release MML3 in 10 years, after a Legends Legacy Collection is done first in 5 years to build hype (similar to MM11), after the Star Force collection in 3 years.
Or they will do similar to Star Fox 2, making it available when the 3DS becomes old enough to be available in a new "Virtual Console" or included in a "Mini 3DS" (maybe it will be paper thin? :P).
But nowadays I feel we will probably be grayer and balder than Dr. Cain before an official MML3 is released...
Yet, it could be worse. In the current systems, where can we play a game from Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe, Rival Schools, Power Stone, Star Gladiator, Breath of Fire, Sengoku Basara, Gaist, ...?
We have the Legacy Collections, Mega Man 11, Mega Man X DiVE Offline, the arcade fighting games, ... So it's not like we are lacking games, we just got spoiled with Mega Man games during the NES, SNES, GB, and GBA days, and now are starving for more. And many fans are still sour about the "Thanos infinity snap" with Mega Man Legends 3, Mega Man Universe, and Rockman Online (the latter being licensed instead of directly from Capcom). The poor quality of Rockman Xover did not help. Nor Bad Box Art MM in SFxTK being a poorly timed joke. The mention to MML3's rocket in Project X Zone. Keiji Inafune leaving to do his own games, like Mighty No. 9 (wasn't it going to have an animation?), Red Ash (wasn't it going to have a game?) and Kaio the King of Pirates (where did it go?). Learning that Star Force 4 and a MMX shooter were also canned. Etc.
Still, nowadays I no longer care. My expectations with Capcom are low not only with Mega Man, but in general.
*Mega Man cameo in Street Fighter 6? Whatever, I'm happy with SF4, and the way SF5 works (feels like a mobile game, it just isn't worse due to lacking a stamina bar, like X DiVE) made me unsure about getting SF6.
*A new Monster Hunter with a Mega Man reference? As some people say about most Mega Man games: "Aren't they all the same but with different bosses and weapons"? I have 2 Monster Hunter games, and as I'm yet to finish them, that's good enough to me.
*Mega Man skin in Exowhat? Exoanimal? Optimus Primal? Oh, Exoprimal! Never heard about it until the Mega Man collab was announced. Checks reviews...... (And with that price) I think I'll pass. I'll get something else instead. Is this Umbraclaw good?
*TEPPEN? With continuous updates, its size eventually increased so much that my potato-phone is no longer able to handle that, and it had X DiVE from launch to shutdown, alongside many other games I removed to see if I could gain more space. Now it will have Phantom of Network and Legend of Network!
I chuckled at Exoprimal being mistook for Optimus Primal.
DeleteI think the fans are going insane! I was right! The “Don’t like it, don’t respond” thing was a lie! People are still responding!
Delete*huff puff huff puff* *sigh*
Meaning if you don't like me stating an observation, don't respond. No one had to post below me to complain about my posting an observation. Some posts here are fine, but not the ones making it personal and attacking Shrap and I at the beginning. There is no need for that. Constant anons responding to belittle someone is what can make some go insane though. But yeah, I admit, I don't want to see MM die, but realistically, the observation shows it. If one does not like me stating my observation, then don't respond instead of attacking.
DeleteI'm gonna miss this manga. It single-handedly made a minor spin-off boss whose only defined character traits until it were "depressed" and "racist" into one of the best characters in the franchise. It will probably be a long time before we see that level of character development in a Mega Man game again.
ReplyDeleteI actually really liked the character development in the manga, it's a shame that it ended so early because I feel like it could have gone on a few more years.
DeleteAnd no one will talk about it which is sad
DeleteAre you talking about Enker? I've never read the manga, but this makes me curious.
DeleteStill don't regret leaving MegaMan behind lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool, glad you were able to move on... But why are you here then?
DeleteI like to check in on the never changing frontier everyone told me I was wrong about. Why are you here? To get the same thing for the 82nd time? Just saying even RockMan corners web master works harder than snakecom I haven't seen a single "port" article and I don't mean articles about ports I mean "repeat articles". Must be why people still show up "zing". 🤣
DeleteBecause he obviously still checks out Mega Man sites and is just trolling.
DeleteI personally show up for the news about model kits and figures. I don't really mind that there are aren't any new games because there are so many I haven't even played yet. My love for a franchise doesn't hinge on wether it's "dead" or "alive" it hinges on wether I like it or not.
DeleteI imagine it works in reverse. Wanting a new game in the franchise to begin with hinges on whether you like it or not. lol
DeleteYou can like something without asking for more y'know?
