Mega Man X DiVE Global Version Team in Talks with Capcom to Keep the Game Online

Although the original version of Mega Man X DiVE is no longer playable online, the officially-licensed Global Version by NebulaJoy is still going strong... and they hope to keep it that way.

In a recent livestream, Zero-X, a representative from NebulaJoy, shared insights on the game's future. Zero-X stated, "We are in talks right now with Capcom to extend the online version. I'm 99% sure they are going to say yes." Emphasizing the mutual interest in success, Zero-X added, "They're not going to let us fail because it makes no sense. If this game ever gets shut down they do not benefit at all. If it keeps running, they benefit. Everybody benefits."

While Zero-X refrained from specifying how long service would last in the event of Capcom choosing not to renew the partnership, his confidence should be reassuring for longtime players. We'll keep an ear to the ground if anything changes.

  1. New content coming or the team's gonna remix the existing characters into S Rank? I don't really know.

    1. Is more like the permits as publisher are ending, either they´re trying to renew that or get the permit to finally do new characters.

  2. I wonder if keeping the servers online is really so cheap that they are willing to keep them?
I don't see how any players would keep spending, I bought offline and I'm never going to spend a single dollar with the online version
Pvp is a little fun, but it's very repetitive, ranked seems to be dead, or maybe I'm unlucky to never find anyone
Offline has mods, one if them even restored most co-op levels into the game, dmc collab was added back, and there's 2 custom characters, online's "new" characters are S rank versions of previous characters, they haven't added any new weapons yet
Online has been buffing characters and weapons but so have mods for offline

    1. Pretty much. Now that Offline is out there's no reason to waste money on the predatory gacha version. The responsive controls, the reduced grind, the fact that you can unlock everything just by progressing through the game, the fact the gacha pulls were entirely removed, etc. Not to mention you can still play the Offline version even when you don't have internet access. As far as I'm concerned Online might as well not exist. They can keep their copy paste S rank versions of existing characters while us over here in the Offline crowd are enjoying Prometheus.

  3. Guessing NJ isn't doing too well with the DMC Gacha (which we shouldn't be surprised by, being extra money hungry ftw). Unless they're actually putting it like, actual new content (re; stuff like new stages or game modes that'd make it more appealing than the Offline version) or making it easier for newcomers to access, it has little going for it. All it's really got over Offline is PvP.

Speaking of which, banking 100% on PvP is not really gonna grow the game (or save it tbh), since the imbalance looks like it's somehow gotten worse from TW's last days. Plus it takes a LONG time for newbie to get competitive into the game. Takes like, what, 300 or so patches to get an S Rank to 5*? Like 500 or so for DNA and that's assuming the RNG is nice to you? Can't remember the exact amount. Oh, and the whole "majority of the worthwhile characters/gear are locked behind Fest/Exclusive banners" thing, too. This isn't including on how PvP is pretty janky in general.

Not really caring either way, since I've long stopped playing (re; was active in Global from Beta/Launch to news of TW ending) but it's just bewildering. The heck is the remaining appeal? At this point it has to have gotten stale from reruns.

    1. About 9000 patches to get a character to 5*, but that alone doesn't make them PvP viable. They need their DNA too and that's more patches, especially since recombined DNA is RNG and unless you're really lucky that's also a patch drain. And you need to have inherited DNA too so that's another character that needs to be built up. And for ranked you need essentially 6 of them built because of that. Since there's so few people playing the game now most of the time you face off against veterans who have stacked characters who can one shot and can be so tanky they only take 1 damage .

    2. Ah, that's right. Still, it's very newbie unfriendly when the whole remaining appeal would be PvP. And even with wallet burning you still probably wouldn't be able to keep up with vets.

  4. ...99% sure? "If this game ever gets shut down they do not benefit at all. If it keeps running, they benefit."
hmm...I dunno everything about gaming industry stuff, but even though global versions of mobile games might still make some profit, they can easily get shut down because it's just not worth it in the long-run to maintain the servers. Like, doesn't that happen relatively often? Wish he gave a better reasoning for being so sure.

  5. Oh God please no. As someone still playing this version this game is in a "needs to die" state. The iframes are way out of control in PvP that it made the NDAX meta Taiwan version look good, there's paid only cards and a chip making the game even more pay to win, rDNA was the worst mechanic of the game and they're doubling down on it with secret DNA making it harder to compete in raids. The only reason I'm still playing is because I have friends in my guild and I'd feel guilty abandoning them, but I was hoping that the game would end in June since that's when Zero-X said the roadmap was set, and I don't know how much more of this wretched game I can take over the summer.

I'm really hoping that the playerbase has shrunk so low that Capcom says no, because it seems like most of the people still playing this version are miserable unless you open your wallet.

  6. The fact that he says "They're not going to let us fail because it makes no sense. If this game ever gets shut down they do not benefit at all. If it keeps running, they benefit. Everybody benefits." speaks volume that they're just desperately trying to keep this game afloat.

It may benefit CAPCOM and NJ in a way, but HOW would this benefit their playerbase if they can't make new content?
Like sure, this game would benefit CAPCOM by keeping this game online since they're getting a cut from sales, but this doesn't benefit the players at all. All they're getting out of this is a lack of new content and random balancing changes that don't really do anything at this point. The players aren't happy, and the revenue is down the drain. So how is this "benefiting" everybody?

If CAPCOM really cares about the franchise so much, reject their renewal license and just shut it down already. Offline version exist and there's no point in keepin' the Online service going at this point. The players aren't happy, the revenue is declining, and there's no new content being made. It's just a mess all around. They'll be doing everyone a favor if they just go ahead and say no. This game is basically a lost cause now.

    1. The destiny of every single Mobile Gacha game is to be shut down. You would think people would figure this out and learn not to waste their money on it. Guess not.

    2. Yeah, they sure like beating a dead horse vs moving on to new legit games we actually want. How boring (and lazy) these days.

    3. New player here, I love the game. Tons of content to unlock. I don’t do offline games.

  7. NebulaJoy about to get comeuppance for taking on that DMC game?

    1. If you're wondering what I meant, basically: XZ Time Rift was allegedly cancelled because NebulaJoy's DMC game wasn't doing well sales-wise.
Now that they're about to lose their own version of X Dive... Seems like they want it to stay around because all they'll be left with otherwise is dead weight.

  8. ""They're not going to let us fail because it makes no sense."

This is the part where Passionate Duelist starts playing and Capcom manages to defy their expectations in such a spectacular fashion that lets to them shutting down the game for no good reason.

I want Ryu, I never got him in the online version

    2. Content ports to Offline from Online are interesting, but personally I'm a lot more interested in the exclusive new content coming to Offline thanks to modders. We got Prometheus recently, there's a Giro in the works, there's countless weapons and skins people have made, and there's even voices for characters that are otherwise mute such as Harp Note.

  10. TBF, Global ver. looks more like a Private Server at this point. How is it possible that Offline ver. has more content and develpment than a officially licensed server?

Either improve it or let it die, dude.

    1. Because fans who've been making content for Offline version are not a 3rd-party game company, nor an organization to follow any rules or regulations set by CAPCOM. It is the fact that NebulaJoy simply does not have the 'rights' of development from CAPCOM TW. Just because NebulaJoy hold the license to operate the game does not mean that they are not allowed to create new content, or even modify existing assets, as that would definitely violate those guidelines, as the character models and assets are the intellectual property of CAPCOM TW and cannot be manipulated or altered in any way by third parties.

  11. Hilariously, NebulaJoy may have not read this Article where Capcom's COO Harihiro Tsujimoto, who is the ultimate decision maker regarding Business Decisions in Capcom HQ itself, said about Capcom's view of F2P Mobile Games:
'Traditional free-to-play smartphone games are “not a good fit with Capcom’s brand,” Instead, the studio will focus on releasing console titles for download on smart devices. High-quality games should become more playable on a wider range of smartphones in the next few years, and that will give us an opportunity to reach gamers who don’t have consoles and PCs.'

How do you want something back online when it was never offline? Make it make sense?

In your version of English and reality "keep" translates to "want it back" I guess. Clown world keeps clowning.

  13. So, to recap, Offline flaunted unused models for Violen and Eregion, and fans modded in Prometheus.
    NebulaJoy is doing stat balances.
If this is a rights issue with the license, it needs to be renegotiated, otherwise the game is just coasting.
I won't knock Global. I'm still on it, enjoying my Zinogre Iris and my co-op (When was PVP not a mess?). NJ needs to do a better job of cataloguing their stat changes, and the Guild/Raid Boss defense has been set WAY, WAY too high. But they've made a lot of good changes, too, buffing old favorites to give them a new lease on life. If they can maintain it, great. But what they are doing now, it IS going to get stale if nothing changes.

  14. How I read this as... "We want to continue to make money, but Offline isn't making us anything... so can Capcom extend the lifespan of an already dead game, and give us a slightly less red balance sheet at the end of the year?"
