Mega Man X DiVE isn't dead just yet. Capcom announced Mega Man X DiVE Offline during today's Capcom Showcase. The offline version includes (mostly) every character from the previous mobile version, story chapters, items, stages and more.
According to the official website, user data from the current mobile version cannot be transferred to Offline. Battle Mode, Co-Op play, Guilds, Rankings, and Capsules will be gutted for Offline as well. Collaboration characters from other Capcom properties such as Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry will not be included.
Mega Man X DiVE Offline is coming later this year to Steam, iOS and Android. More updates soon!
Please port this to the Switch.
ReplyDeleteI expected nothing, and still went out disappointed...
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that if they did something like this that it would come to switch. I really would like a more traditional control scheme for something like this and I thought a while back that they were some thing about a leak showing switch inputs.
ReplyDeleteall versions are compatible with controllers

ReplyDeleteWelp... We wished for megaman news and the monkey's paw curled a shriveled finger.
It was pretty obvious. I don't expect them to make Mega Man news when Battle Network collection is still in it's initial sale period.
DeleteI don't think anything could possibly be less appealing than the idea of playing X Dive again from scratch.
ReplyDeleteFR
DeleteIf y'all know anything about taisen and have any details on the project status whatsoever this might be a good time to do a little write up
ReplyDeleteBecause realistically speaking I don't think a game of this budget and scope can afford to take 5 years
Maybe Rockman Taisen is gonna be this cool single-player game featuring numerous characters from Mega Man X and other classic Mega Man titles! You'll be able to level up your favorite characters and equipment to create a powerful Hunter...and cultivate characters and weapons to creature your own...with a roster of over 100 characters...more than 900 stages...oh...oh no...
DeleteCareful now. You’ll anger those who swore XDive wouldn’t deviate resources to the main franchise
DeleteIt was obvious they weren't going to announce a new game when EXE collection released a month ago. Hyping something else would just be risking killing the momentum of that one.
Deletenothing surprising about that.
And no, even with what little we knows of this project, it's obvious it's not Xdive online, which is just the already existing assets done by Taicom, minus the online functionalities.
@AnonymousJune 12, 2023 at 9:14 PM
DeleteIf they aren't doing new things with the main franchise, it's likely because they have decided to first port every series in collection form (since the collection are actually made by the people who'd work on a new game).
That's a strategy, maybe not the strategy I would have chosen (I think alternating between the collections and new releases would have been better), but I see where they're coming from.
"Careful now. You’ll anger those who swore XDive wouldn’t deviate resources to the main franchise"
DeleteWhat's to get angry about? It's true that it's not diverting anything. Unless you want to tell me about all of the MM games developed by Nebula Joy and Capcom Taiwan over the years...
So where’s the new game announcement buddy? 🙄
DeleteYarr, Capcom Vs SNK 3 talk is swirling around... Maybe we'll get a rep there?
DeleteAnd it will still be shit because it will retain the tedious grind of a gacha game, just like all of those sanitized Apple Arcade Gachas.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, no console version. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWhen a game is free, YOUR the product. How else are they gonna get your data?
DeleteGuess what. Game's paid.
DeleteNot in the sense you mean. And they clearly didn't pay enough.
DeleteOf course, operating on the assumption this is a free release, as it does not say.
DeleteIt’s not a free release
DeleteThe Capcom Showcase Survey makes it pretty clear that they're planning to sell it, but they apparently don't have a specific price planned yet as they are still gauging interest.
DeleteSigh, will all of you please stop talking?
DeleteNo one had posted for over a week, mon ami.
DeleteNice, I'm glad it won't be lost forever, maybe it will be more tolerable without gacha mechanics. It's sad we won't get stuff like Shagaru X, though. But the game will be paid now?
ReplyDeleteSo long Ryu, you have been the very best. :(
ReplyDeleteYeesss…! This is exactly what I was hoping might happen, just like with Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls! (I never played with other people anyway.)
ReplyDeleteAlso. "The roster wi;;"? The roster will what?
Absolute trash. Where is that game they've supposedly been working on for years now?
ReplyDelete"its not over yet!"
ReplyDeleteIs Capcom actually going to make me take back everything I've said about them?!? What is happening?!? XD XD
ReplyDeleteI literally just finished eulogizing this and now-- Wow. Okay. Umm--
I'm afraid of being an optimist all of a sudden but... this is tremendous news and I sure hope it's the start of a new trend in end-of-life cycles for games like this. I've literally never seen something like this actually happen. It may not be the first but-- I sure as hell hope this can become a standard bearer for things to come!
In Japan, this is actually something relatively common, the majority of their userbase are Apple slaves over there, and Apple has strict guidelines when it comes to microtransactions, so all of this kind of thing they do is just dumping a completely unmodified version of the game, Gacha Grind and all into the stores so they can just pass the controls. They don't care, if anything, this is just a banner to promote the soon to die cashgrab to see if they can squeeze some pennies out of normies.
DeleteExcept they're actually removing the Gacha and reworking how Element Metals and Character Memories are obtained, as plainly visible in the trailer. This is absolutely not "a completely unmodified version of the game, Gacha Grind and all".
DeleteSo this is basically just a single-player only Dive without the gacha mechanics but still with a massive grind? Er...okay? I did not enjoy the game when it first came out on mobile, but I GUUUUUUUUUUUESS I'll give it a second chance when it comes out again? Or something? I dunno. Being a Mega Man fan means seeing Capcom attempt to salvage a mobile gacha game over making a new proper Mega Man game.
ReplyDelete>"but still with a massive grind?"
DeleteWe don't have any confirmation about the grind. It might still be huge, or it might be toned down. All we know is that it's getting reworked.
>"Being a Mega Man fan means seeing Capcom attempt to salvage a mobile gacha game over making a new proper Mega Man game."
1. They're not attempting to salvage it, they're preserving it. It's likely not getting any new content, and isn't expected to see much in the way of sales after the initial sales period. Salvaging it would mean keeping the servers online, which is only the case for the time being with the global version of the game at least until that version is eventually forced to shut down too. The point of the offline version is to ensure that the game is still playable even though nothing else is being done with it.
2. Different teams. X DiVE is a side project outsourced by Capcom to their branch in Taiwan. They're not doing this instead of anything, we just don't have any public announcements of anything else yet. No public announcements doesn't mean nothing exists though, that's not how game development works at all.
This is very underwhelming. Don't get me wrong it's great that we have an offline version of X Dive but it's been so long since the last new Mega Man game. Plus this isn't even coming to consoles which makes this announcement even more meh.
ReplyDeleteI wish they had done the same with Rockman Xover
ReplyDeleteAayyee, nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that X Dive is going to have an offline version.
ReplyDeleteEverything that existed could not be forgotten due to the contributions to the saga, the new original characters, the return of Iris (in a certain way) and the Dive Armors
So for someone's who's never played this, worth it?
ReplyDeleteyea especially when you're able to play offline, you get to play as many characters from the franchise officially and it wouldn't have to be a gacha game anymore. so perhaps try it out when it enters offline but you should also check it out now since online features aren't going to be in the game.
DeleteI guess that without the gacha elements, it would be more worth it than the online version anyway. I wouldn't consider it a indispensable in general, though. More like a curiosity to check out.
DeleteThe game is boring after you completed story and challenges. The characters are all busted and none of the events will give you a challenge
DeleteGood! Too bad that the Collaboration characters are not going to be included. I wish they could cheat a little bit by modify and rename all those collaboration characters and armors so that we could still have them in some way.
ReplyDeleteI believe the reason they shut down X DIVE online due to their next upcoming online game Rockman Taisen or maybe X DIVE 2?
So what's going to happen with the global version by NebulaJoy? Can they move forward by adding new characters from the series or add new stories? Are they allowed to create their own characters and do collaboration with other third party? If they cease someday after adding more characters, I hope they would also make their version to be playable offline too.
I hope Capcom would continue to follow this trend in the future by converting their online/arcade games into offline games once their service ended including past games like Rockman Xover, Pachislot Rockman Ability, and all the rest here:
https://capcom.fandom.com/wiki/Category:IOS_Games
https://capcom.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Mobile_Phone_Games
https://megaman.fandom.com/wiki/Keitai_Capcom
And if X DIVE 2 would ever happen someday, I hope they would integrate the unfinished Xover storyline.
Hopefully they would also release an artbook for X DIVE.
I forgot to add something, maybe they intended to put all those collaboration characters as DLC?
DeleteIf so, there might still be a chance to get some new characters through DLC.
Hate to break some bad news to you coming from the recent CapcomTV Stream dated 30 June.
DeleteThey covered this near the end of the stream and the Host emphasized in Japanese that Rockman X DiVE Offline will have NO Online Gameplay Elements and NO DLCs of any sort created for them, the latter so important that the Host had to mention this TWICE in the 1m10s segment that covered this game.
This in actuality, effectively eliminated any chance of Capcom IP Collab Characters officially being restored as playable in Offline now without Player MODs sadly.
What kind of contract that prevented them from adding all those existing collabo stuff? After all they're all internal within Capcom?
DeleteOne kind: P R I D E.
DeleteNoting that the Offline Version announcement was only made AFTER the both Main Producers of the Online Version (Hideto Yoda for Asia/Taiwan; and Kazuhiro Tsuchiya for Japan) have resigned from their posts one after another (Yoda in early-April and Tsuchiya in end-May), notwithstanding Capcom's top Management always have a long storied tale of dissing their former chief IP production contributors through their business and production decisions (three case examples spanning >30 years: Hideki Kamiya of DMC, Keiji Inafune of Megaman, Yoshinori Ono of Street Fighter V), made even more blatant after Capcom Leadership now in 2nd Generation of the Tsujimoto Family (Current President/CEO: Haruhiko Tsujimoto with his younger brother Ryozo in charge of Game Development).
Also, Offline version WILL be paid software according to Ucchy's own Rockman Unity Blog on the game itself dated 13th June, the very day of the Capcom Showcase, mentioning in Japanese: "買い切りのソフト" (pay-once-to-play-everything game software), this actually mean two things: Said Game will be sold AS-IS (no Online Multiplayer, no Live-Service Features) and given Capcom's tradition of giving DLCs only to games with Online Live-Service Elements like "Street Fighter 6" & upcoming "Exoprimal" (whose Producer & Director are the ones previously in-charge of "Monster Hunter World: Iceborne"), it adds up pretty obviously if you ask me.
Too bad, no zealous person from the Tsujimoto family to manage the Rockman franchise. Maybe it's better that way than having Mega Man infested with microtransactions?
DeleteSeems like apart from compilations and ports, Japan-only spinoff games, or crossover type of games, there's not much hope for proper sequels to the mainline games. The only exception is MM12 and maybe MMBN7 because it sold well, that's it, if they choose to pursue it.
Poor sales from Darkstalkers Resurrection prevented it from getting a sequel, unfortunately that's what happened to many Mega Man titles too where we expected for sequels.
If they really have no desire to make Legends 3 at all, I hope at least they put the 3DS Prototype into a Legends compilation so at least we get something new out of it.
'Maybe it's better that way than having Mega Man infested with microtransactions?'
DeleteHate to break your heart once again, recent Capcom Titles released under Haruhiko as CEO (and developed with RE Game Engine to boot!) ALL have numerous forms of microtransactions built right inside, right ON TOP of having to PAY to play those games either directly or via Console Subscription Services (PS Plus / XBox Game Pass Ultimate) as a form of in-game live-service content. Street Fighter 6 had their Fighter Coin System which works like X DiVE's Paid EMs in purchasing Legacy Costumes and Battle Passes, Exoprimal had their equivalents for their upcoming Collabs expected, even Monster Hunter: Rise have their added character voice packs as MTX DLCs, including one that also voiced ViA for X DiVE.
In short, current Capcom IPs created are already expected to be not only pay-to-play live-service games, but also superior game experience locked behind microtransaction walls being the new normal now. Another new normal being non-RE developed games given the remaster collection treatment, further supported by the announcement of two of Shu Takumi's directed IPs, Ace Attorney 456 Trilogy Remake and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, both given the port to modern consoles.
I kind of expected this but it's weird how they didn't even made a version for home consoles....
ReplyDelete“The roster wi;;” looks like the author started tearing up while typing up the missing content, and I thought that was kinda funny. (Don’t mind me)
ReplyDeleteHuh? What does it means?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I do not pay a lot into games Because this always happens. I think the only Game I have paid more into then I should have is Pokemon GO and that is just for more Pokeballs and the MLP Game before it went to trash. This happens with every game over time There should be Laws against these kind of things Were they basicly strip us of all the stuff we paid for and force us to start all over. When they decided to do offline version of the games. But nope no laws which means they can get away with it. People only Pay if you can also play the game offline already because sooner or later the game will be removed and if you can only play online then everything you paid for will be gone. With Pokemon GO I move over my Pokemon about once a month to my Switch and from Pokemon Home to either Sword, Shield, Violet, or Scarlet. Because someday Pokemon GO will be shut down and I am not losing all that hard work and all the money I spent on the pokeball for it to all be gone and be left with nothing. I been saying for years if you can not play offline it most likely not worth playing in the end even if its fun the cost is most likely to high
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they just let this game die?
ReplyDeleteToo many simps for this game and it’s atrocious use of the female body. Smfh
DeleteThey want all your money by making the lowest effort possible.
Delete
Delete@Anonymous June 13, 2023 at 2:54 PM
"atrocious use of the female body"
Not those poor 1s and 0s, not the poor binary code. Women with those bodies and attitude don't exist, no sir. Grow up.
They announced something Mega Man related and nothing at the same time. I should be grateful if this doesn't shut down, but it's just MMXD with less features.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it, it's nice to see mobile gacha games get ported like this. I do enjoy the game, but I'll probably wait a while before playing this version, as I've already spent a lot of time in the global version, and you can't transfer anything. However this makes the blatant character omissions even worse, like Spider, Lumine, X8 Armors...OH WELL.
ReplyDeleteI am glad. Bye DiVE. It is not a good game anyway. Its just endless gaming, you know. What a waste!
ReplyDeleteThat's Interesting to have at least for preservation. Even though I'm personally not a fan of Xdive.
ReplyDeleteThis is good for preservation but I probably won't play it more than a couple hours to see it. Unlocking everything all over again wouldn't be worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteStill a good move on their part to not just let the game disappear. (of course, whether I personally want people to remember *all* the stuffs in dive is another story, but objectively, preservation is good).
I get presarvation is important, and generally I hope more online only games do that when comes their inevitable end.
ReplyDeleteThough I do hope this doesn't mean I'll still have to explain to anyone the difference between this and actual Mega Man X games to convince the to try the legacy collection.
This might not be a new Mega Man game, but I appreciate the intention of this. I will absolutely play X Dive now. I'm not super into this type of game, but this is a trend that should follow for the entire game industry. What if you are a big fan of a dead MMORPG? Or a game that requires an online connection? Offline mode should be offered to people who still want to enjoy the game and don't need to be connected to others to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI think so too, it'd be nice if more gacha games did this.
DeleteNow I'll finally be able to play this one properly, even if it's going to be on the deck instead of the switch.
ReplyDeleteThis is all they have to show for the series' 35th anniversary? An "Offline" re-release of the same game people've been playing for the past few years? Really? I've stopped giving a damn about DiVE long ago, and even though I kept my expectations low, Capcom still didn't fail to disappoint.
ReplyDeleteThis is especially irritating, because they keep boasting about the supposed "high sales" of Mega Man 11, and yet they've done almost nothing with the series since then. No sequel, no DLC expansion, nothing.
This does count as something.
DeleteThis counts as doo doo
DeleteSomething bad, yes, but something nonetheless.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI didn't expect anything, and I'm moderately optimistic. I never hear about gachas who died and got an offline version stripped of the microtransaction elements so they don't become completely lost media, but its nice that our terrible little gacha got this nice treat. This should happen more.
ReplyDeleteYou did it RiCO. You saved the Deep Log and became a real Megaman X character.
You know? Not the worst thing that could have happened. A properly preserved online-only game becoming offline with no microtransactions is something I mostly see fans do, before being hit by a DMCA, but here, they decided to preserve this properly. Not only that, but I also assume this is gonna make things like model ripping and general preservation easier. Who knows, maybe that awesome model of Hell Sigma is gonna be ripped? Either way, not sure if I'll give this a try or not. The series is as dead as it was what, a decade ago? Yup. Ready to wait the next 5 years for the brand new, nostalgic throwback Mega Man 12? :)
ReplyDeleteAt least back then we had comics.
DeleteReally, you can't transfer data from the current MMXD to the offline one? Doesn't seem that hard to make it a feature....that kinda sucks.
ReplyDeleteI hope Capcom doesn't use this as an excuse to put out a game for for Mega Man X's 30th anniversary. That would be quite underwhelming.
Don't ever be surprised if that IS exactly what Capcom can only do now given staff departures in the Mega Man Department.
DeleteIgnoring all the people whining here, because that seems to be all people here know how to do, this is honestly nice, video game preservation has always been a problem, its even worst with mobile games, which once their service is done, they are most likely lost to time, unless fans find a way to revive them as unofficial things, so the rare times mobile games get offline versions after being completed is nice for just keeping them around.
ReplyDeleteLike it or hate it, Rockman Xover being lost to time was a big L, so this is honestly a W.
I generally agree. I'm just hoping X DiVE Offline isn't overpriced and has an element metal drop rate that doesn't make me want to rip my hair out. In fact, the more "daily chores" they can remove from or at least tone down in the game before release, the better.
DeleteSomething to consider, X Dive is a Unity game... as far as I've seen, Unity games tend to be decently moddable...
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, I thought the game would end on 2030 as Zenny Capsule stated.
ReplyDelete
