Capcom is gearing up to celebrate its 40th anniversary and to kick off the festivities, they are launching a brand new goods line called "CAPCOM CREATORS LABEL." The initiative will bring together in-house creators to produce unique and collaborative goods that aim to captivate fans.
The motto of this new brand is "LIFE WITH GAMES", which strives to celebrate seasoned gamers that have spent their whole lives playing games. The first wave will focus on goods with a retro style design based on Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Ghosts 'n Goblins and of course Mega Man.
You can find all the details after the break!
The concept for the Route 69 design in Mega Man was brought to life by Mami Kunimoto, a packaging/graphic designer from Resident Evil: Village, and Yasuyuki Makino, an art director/planner who has also worked as a producer for The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
The idea behind this new design was to combine the classic Route 66 sign with the boss/stage selection screen from Mega Man and turn it into a billboard design that gamers will see while driving along the fictional Route 69. The number 69 is significant to long time Mega Man fans -- but if you need a refresher, you can find out why here!
This new Route 69 design will be printed on a Mug, T-Shirt, Binder, Tote Bag, Cushion and Clear Folder Set. They can be purchased from PARCO's online store (only in Japan for now). The cushion seems to be an exclusive for Capcom's Net Catcher service though.
If you wish to see more images, the prices or even what the designers of Route 69 has to say about it, check out the official website.
About $32.00 USD for a T-shirt with a vaguely interesting design I don't love?
ReplyDeleteAround $20.00 for the same, but on a mug?
Yeah, pass.
And no Time or Oil?
DeleteNobody liked Powered Up.
DeleteExcept me.
man, even the T-shirt is so lazily done. you have one size, one color, with the image teeny tiny in the front...
Deletethis merch is pretty sad, and I really liked the design too.
>And no [...] Oil?
DeleteAfter the content warning in Battle Network Legacy Collection, I don't think Capcom will ever want to touch Oil Man with a ten-foot pole now, unless they import his Archie redesign into the game canon.
