Droit, Angie and "Total Power Battle" Event Hit Mega Man X DiVE Next Week

The global version of Mega Man X DiVE starts 2023 strong will the first edition of the "Total Power Battle" event on all servers.

The event consists of three battle types: Suppression Battle (players defeat multiple waves of enemies within the shortest time possible), Lightning Battle (race against the clock to finish a stage as fast as possible) and Expedition Battle (a battle against unique versions of existing bosses).

The time remaining on the clock after you finish each battle type will be used to calculate a high score. The sum can then be used to gauge and unlock rewards and compete against other players.

When it comes to gacha characters, the NA Server will receive the original X DiVE characters Droitclair and Angepitoyeir in one capsule. A single free 10-pull will be available.

The EU and LATAM Servers will receive Bass XX The capsule includes a single free 10-pull as well. His DNA Code will be available right away.

Pix'n Love's NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol.2 is Loaded with Goodies

This yellow box of fun slipped under our radar, it seems. Pix'n Love Games recently announced that they'll be offering a special physical edition of NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2. The contents are wholly different from Limited Run's collector's edition. Check it out:

Rockman X DiVE Says Goodbye to 2022 with DiVE Armor RiCO

Before the year ends, we have another character joining the Rockman X DiVE roster. It's not a New Year-themed character like Cinnamon or Iris were in previous years. Instead, the game is closing out 2022 with the previously-teased DiVE Armor RiCO... and she packs quite a punch.

Rockman-san Chapters 13 to 19 English Translation Now Available

Since their debut more than a year and a half ago, Rockman-San and Rockman-Chan continue to be among the most read manga in Young Ace UP. And despite that, no publisher has expressed any interest in distributing the comics outside Japan. At least not yet.

But lucky us, our friend Midori has been working hard to translate another batch of chapters in English. This time it's chapter 13 to chapter 19. You can download them here. Chapters 1 to 12 can be found from that link as well if you need to play catch-up.

Mega Man X DiVE Welcomes 2023 With "New Year Iris"

Coming to the global version of Mega Man X DiVE next week, all servers will start the new year celebrations with the limited character New Year Iris, and a rerun of "The Auspicious Dream of the New Year" event stage.

The capsule comes packed with a single free 10-pull and the ability to unlock the DNA Code for New Year Cinnamon, Falcon Armor X and X-kai will be available too. New Year Iris' DNA Code will be distributed at a later date.

What's more? A Special PICKUP Capsule featuring Falcon Armor, X-kai and the Singularity Slasher saber will be available too. Through daily login rewards, players can grab a free 20-pull, 10 on the third day and another 10 on the tenth day.

All players will receive a set of 40 memories of Ultimate Armor X and a chance to win the Ultimate Armor X AC Ver skin if the game's official YouTube Channel reaches 5k subscribers and 3k likes on this video.

Mega Man Artists Pay Tribute to Mega Man & Mega Man X Anniversaries

On December 17th, the classic series and the X series celebrated their 35th and 29th anniversaries respectively. Although Capcom didn't provide any announcement, we were treated to commemorative artwork shared on Twitter by some of the franchise's most well-known official artists.

Mega Man Fanzine "Mechanical Heart" Pre-Orders Open Tomorrow

An upcoming and long-anticipated Mega Man fan-lead project takes one more big step toward completion! Designed to celebrate the franchise's 35th anniversary, "Mechanical Heart" is a zine dedicated to the characters and settings that won the hearts of fans the world over. And starting tomorrow, December 17th, it'll be available to pre-order from here. 

Mechanical Heart includes pieces designed and illustrated by artists from every corner of the community. To name a few, there's TechNightmaren, fivepaninis, steph_o_dell, WillowRambles and KueLandak to name a few. For the fiction folks out there, expect original works from nadiaoxford, moons0nata and FortunesMarket. Hit up those links for some samples!

"Sigma's Invasion" Card Pack Coming to Teppen on January 5

Teppen starts strong next year with the new card pack Sigma's Invasion. The pack puts Sigma front and center as his plan for humanity's annihilation enters its final stage in the last chapter of the "Echoes of the Lost Civilization" trilogy.

All servers of Mega Man X DiVE's Global Version are celebrating the two week Christmas event "Toll of Christmas Bell from Afar"  with the limited characters Christmas Ciel and Christmas RiCO as the gacha featured characters. If that's not enough for you, the development team will drop another DiVE Fest gacha capsule on all servers next week featuring none other than iCO.

The capsule comes packed with a single free 10-pull.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Launches April 14th, Pre-Orders Now Available

The second Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection trailer is live! A handful of updates came with it... including a release date! The game will launch worldwide on April 14th, 2023. 

Pre-orders are available now for $59.99, which includes two additional skins for the launcher screen and music tracks to be enjoyed in the Music Player. Digital versions of Volumes 1 and 2 can also be purchased separately at launch for $39.99.

Rockman EXE Advanced Collection Special Edition Confirmed (Japan-Exclusive)

Capcom Japan have unveiled the Rockman EXE Advanced Collection "We Are Still Connected!" Collector's Edition. The set includes a physical copy of Rockman EXE Advanced Collection, two shot glasses, two acrylic coasters, and a special E-Capcom exclusive Battle Chip keychain. E-Capcom links below:

• PlayStation 4 Collector's Edition

If you live outside Japan, you will need to go through a proxy service in order to purchase from E-Capcom. But seeing as the game just went up for pre-order, it's very likely we'll see these Collector's Editions available from other retailers soon (Play Asia, Amazon Japan, etc.)

I can confirm that there are no plans for an English Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection collector's edition at this time. Sorry!

"Christmas iCO" Brings the Goods to Rockman X DiVE

We can't say Christmas iCO joining Rockman X DiVE's roster will surprise anyone. The holiday-themed character was foreshadowed last Christmas and then teased in the new content roadmap (not to mention being outright spoiled in the card gallery a few weeks ago).

Rockman.EXE and Forte.EXE Get the "Capcorom" Plush Treatment

If you're planning on going to Japan for the upcoming holiday season, you might want to swing by a Capcom Store. Select locations are preparing to play host to two new "Capcorom" plushies: Rockman.EXE and Forte.EXE.

Both super-deformed plushies will go on sale at the Tokyo, Osaka and Umeda locations on December 16th. They'll set you back a cool 1,100 yen a piece. 

If you're not going to be in Japan... well, you gotta wait and see. These Capcorom plushies tend to hit online retail soon after their Capcom Store debut. Mercari, Yahoo Auctions and eBay are popular options as well. For now, right click and save those cute suckers above!

Mega Man Composer Manami Matsumae Featured in 'Lock On' Journal

There’s no doubt that Mega Man helped define the 8-bit generation, and this iconic status is due in part to games' soundtracks. Mohammed Taher, Director of Brave Wave Music, sat down with Manami Matsumae, the composer of Mega Man 1’s soundtrack, to revisit those chiptune classics in the latest issue of Lock On. 

In addition to Matsumae's interview, Lock On Volume 005 also includes this really great piece by Nuri Durr (above). The aim was to capture the nostalgia of the NES, and reinvigorate readers' fondness for the era. I mean, just look at those crazy kids. Sitting a little too close to the TV and all. Memories.

Jada Toys Mega Man Wave 2 Figures Revealed

Good on their word, Jada Toys have fully unveiled the second wave of their upcoming Mega Man toyline at the L.A Comic-Con. Wave 2 will consist of Hyper Bomb Mega Man, Cut Man and Elec Man. 

As previously confirmed, this toyline consists of 4-inch (1:12 scale) classic series figures. Each figure comes with different weapon effect parts and at least one alternate head piece. Jada Toys are currently eyeing a $25 price tag per figure.

Wave 1 is planned to launch sometime in Spring 2023. No word yet on Wave 2. We'll keep you posted

White Day Alia Shines Bright in Teppen's Newest Supplemental Cards

Teppen's final batch of supplemental cards for the year have dropped. The lineup brings another character from Rockman X DiVE following the addition of RiCO in the Defying the Light card pack. Curiously enough, the dev team chose White Day Alia over other characters like ViA or iCO.

Jada Toys Teasing Mega Man Wave 2 Figures

Although Wave 1 isn't available yet (they're due in Spring 2023), Jada Toys have partially revealed the next three figures in their upcoming classic series toyline. 

Teaser images of Hyper Bomb Mega Man, Cut Man and Elec Man were published to Jada Toy's official Facebook group today. The figures will be fully revealed at the Los Angeles Comic-Con at Jada Toy's booth (#4415) on December 2nd. We can probably expect more details on availability and price.

Placeholder Domains for "Mega Man 12" Through "Mega Man 15" Registered, Recently Updated

Well this completely flew under our radar. In 2018, domains for Mega Man 12, Mega Man 13, Mega Man 14 aaaand Mega Man 15 were registered. And in March 2022, all four were updated. 

The registrant is GMO Internet Group - a provider based in Japan who register domain names on Capcom's behalf. In the past, the company registered domains for Devil May Cry 5 (mere weeks ahead of its official announcement), Resident Evil 2 and Monster Hunter: World, among others. 

It may go without saying, but the Mega Man domains are placeholders. All four domains were preemptively registered a few months ahead of Mega Man 11's initial release, after all. But given the recent updated data and the incoming 35th anniversary season, it might be something to watch out for. If GMO drops dedicated nameservers, that'd be a very telling sign. We'll keep tabs on that.

Fans have been eager for a new mainline Mega Man title for the last few years. With news that Mega Man 11 recently became the best-selling game in the franchise, hopes are once again riding high...

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Will Have Denuvo DRM at Launch

The Steam pages for Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were recently updated, revealing that they will include Denuvo DRM anti-temper software at launch.

Although it's too soon to say if Denuvo will negatively impact Battle Network Legacy Collection, the third-party tech is notorious for hindering gameplay performance, among other annoyances. Seeing as the collection is made up of Game Boy Advance ports, it shouldn't be too severe. But for the brand-new PvP modes? Uhhh... we'll have to see. 

The good news is Capcom typically remove Denuvo from their games a good 6-12 months after release. In some cases, like Mega Man 11, the tech is patched-out sooner due to a crack. Either way, keep those fingers crossed for a smooth launch.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is due on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC/Steam in 2023.

Rarely Seen Rockman 2 Pre-Release Footage Found

My old pal OKeijiDragon recently obtained and preserved a 1988 Capcom sales tape, which features several minutes of gameplay from a pre-release version of Rockman 2. 

The footage (shown at 9:24 above) includes a few noteworthy differences from the final version. These include:

• Blocky trees in Wood Man's stage (these actually appeared on the back of the game's box!)

• The ladder in Crash Man's stage is positioned to the right, further from the player (compare)

• Enemies DROP E-Tanks!

• Missing enemies, 1-Up in Flash Man's stage (compare)

• EVERY Robot Master is grayed out! (including their projectiles and Health bar gauge) Maybe this was done to maintain a level of secrecy? Or their designs weren't finalized? Whatever the case, the effect appears to be native to this particular pre-release build. It wasn't overlaid or edited onto the video!

Also worth pointing out, the footage is set to a synth version of the game's score. I don't believe these specific arrangements were released commercially. They *might* be the original demos. Maybe someone can isolate or recreate them.

Anyway, with this tape under our belts we now have our earliest look at Rockman 2 yet. Hopefully it won't be the last!

The acrylic ships at the end of the month; the shirts go out on December 7.

NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol.2 (Includes Mega Man Battle & Fighters) Now Available

NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC. The collection features 10 games including Mega Man Battle & Fighters. Just like the previous standalone release, Battle & Fighters is in Japanese but includes a brand-new, fully-translated digital English manual. 

A physical print has been announced as well. It's available to pre-order from Limited Run Games from now until December 11. This release marks the very first time Battle & Fighters will be available in a physical format outside Japan!

Mega Man X DiVE EU & LATAM Servers Celebrate 1st Anniversary, NA Server Gets Bass XX

This week the global version of Mega Man X DiVE celebrates its 1st anniversary since the game launched in Europe and LATAM. What's more? The NA server gets a dose of Battle Network content.

Mega Man Battle & Fighters Will Be Included in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2

NeoGeoPocket Color Selection Vol. 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 9th, SNK announced. Volume 2 will feature ten classic titles including Mega Man Battle & Fighters. Mega Man Battle & Fighters is currently available as a standalone title on Nintendo Switch.

Although nothing has been confirmed at this time, there's a chance that - like Volume 1 - Volume 2 could eventually see a limited physical print. If that happens, it would be the first time Battle & Fighters will receive a physical, commercial release outside of Japan. Again, nothing has been announced... but it's something we'll watch out for.

Mega Man 11 Tops 1.60 Million Units; Now Best Selling Game in the Franchise

A few months ago we celebrated the Mega Man franchise achieving 38 million units sold. And today we've got another milestone!

Capcom has announced that, as of September 30, 2022, Mega Man 11 has become the best selling game in the franchise with 1.60 million units sold across all platforms. It's finally dethroned Mega Man 2 as the best selling title.

Mega Man 2 was originally released back in 1988. It's taken almost 34 years for another game in the franchise to surpass the total number of units sold for what many consider to be the best game in the series. As of today, Mega Man 2 sits at number two with 1.51 million units.

As we wait for the next Mega Man flagship title to be announced and with our eyes set on Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection we would like to congratulate Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, Koji Oda, Masakazu Eguchi, Yuji Ishihara and everyone involved in Mega Man 11's development. This is an amazing achievement.

The Reploid Army Wreaks Havoc in Teppen's Latest Card Pack

Teppen's last card pack of the year is here. And this time, the main focus is the arcade game Cannon Spike, the Mega Man X series and the Bionic Commando series.

Sigma and a selection of Mavericks and stage enemies from the Mega Man X series play a predominant role in the second part of the "Echoes of the Lost Civilization" trilogy. You can expect a lot of Mega Man X-themed cards after the break!

The Challenges of Preserving Mega Man Legends 2's Score

Not too long ago, Mega Man Legends 2's OST was re-released on vinyl and cassette. Previously only available in 2009 on a pack-in CD with the Capcom Special Selection limited edition art books, this marked the first time the OST saw a physical commercial release. But the journey to get there was no easy feat.

The History of Capcom's Failed "Mega Man Runners"

The commercial success of Temple Run created an endless runner boom in the early to mid 2010s. Developers around the world - from garage-based indies to seven figure studios - took a swing at the genre. Many of these titles floundered but there were a few that became quite successful. Sonic Runners, Super Mario Run, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! and so on.

No stranger to dipping a toe into bankable trends, Capcom looked to their blue robot for their own endless runner. The result? Rockman Go Go! in 2015 and the cancelled, aptly-named Mega Man Runner in 2016.

Halloween ViA Haunts the Deep Log Next Wednesday

Rockman X DiVE's event sign-in reward screen sheds light on a new character once again: Halloween ViA!

ViA became a Hunter Program earlier this year to celebrate the Taiwan version's second anniversary, and he's only now reciving his first seasonal costume. On the heels of Halloween Zero's vampire-themed costume, ViA's attire appears to be inspiried by Little Red Riding Hood, of all things.

There's not much else we can say at this point beyond that. Keep your eyes peeled to the dev team's social media accounts for the character reveal trailer in a few days. In the meantime, you can see a little more of Halloween ViA's design after the break!

Fresh Batch of Mega Man X Goods at The Yetee

If you're looking to spruce up your Mega Man collection for fall The Yetee has you covered. A new batch of licensed X series goods popped up for pre-order, each meticulously designed by artist Mikoto. 

The "Vampire Hunter" tee features First Armor X laying waste to a swarm of Battons and Batton Bones. A blood-thirsty Zero spotlights the other shirt called "Let's Fight." The design seems to depict a freshly-awoken Zero, ready to wipe out Garma's Unit. 

The last product is a neat X vs Zero acrylic standee. The scene is heavily inspired by X and Zero's iconic duel from Mega Man X5. That's an insta-buy for me.

Second Rockman EXE and Medarot S Crossover Event Announced

Rockman EXE fans continue to eat well with the unveiling of a second crossover event with mobile game Medarot S. As the successor to last year's event, fans of both series will be treated to even more EXE-based Medarot characters and a couple surprises.

Festive Leviathan, Yukata Pallette Join Mega Man X DiVE Fireworks and Lantern Fest

Coming to the global version of Mega Man X DiVE next week, the NA and EU servers Fireworks and Lantern Festival event will see the addition of a new character and a new skin.

Festival Leviathan's gacha capsule will go live on Wednesday with a single free 10-pull and Yukata Pallette skin will be available to purchase from the store for 1200 EM (non-paid). Festive Leviathan DNA Code will be available at a later date.

What's more? The next round of Guild Raid will drop on both servers. It's Final Sigma W this time.

When it comes to the LATAM server, they continue with the second week of the 2nd Monster Hunter Rise event which brings a new gacha capsule with Crimson Valstrax Zero. There will be a single free 10-pull too!

Bandai "Kit-Makes-Pose" Mega Man Battle Network Line Revealed at NYCC22

Bandai have officially unveiled their new Mega Man Battle Network model kit line at New York Comic-Con 2022. Originally teased in May, the "Kit-Makes-Pose (aka Kimpose) line appears to consist of four Navis: MegaMan.EXE, GutsMan.EXE, Roll.EXE, and FireMan.EXE. Mettaur and Canodumb viruses were on display as well. 

Little to no other information exists at the time of this writing. It shouldn't be long before Bandai follows up with a press release and stock photos. For now, you can see more images at this thread here!
