Well this completely flew under our radar. In 2018, domains for Mega Man 12, Mega Man 13, Mega Man 14 aaaand Mega Man 15 were registered. And in March 2022, all four were updated.
The registrant is GMO Internet Group - a provider based in Japan who register domain names on Capcom's behalf. In the past, the company registered domains for Devil May Cry 5 (mere weeks ahead of its official announcement), Resident Evil 2 and Monster Hunter: World, among others.
It may go without saying, but the Mega Man domains are placeholders. All four domains were preemptively registered a few months ahead of Mega Man 11's initial release, after all. But given the recent updated data and the incoming 35th anniversary season, it might be something to watch out for. If GMO drops dedicated nameservers, that'd be a very telling sign. We'll keep tabs on that.
Fans have been eager for a new mainline Mega Man title for the last few years. With news that Mega Man 11 recently became the best-selling game in the franchise, hopes are once again riding high...
In this era of glitch-infested launches, microtransactions, and live services, Mega Man 12-15 are some of the only games left that are safe to look forward to. They'll either be great or they won't come out at all.

ReplyDeleteMega Man is not a dead franchise now, is it? Here's hoping that at least one of those titles has Water Man and/or a female robot master that is not a water type. If only we could get an X9 that resolves the cliffhanger of X8, a Legends 3 where Volnutt gets off the moon, a Battle network 7 or spinoff featuring Crash Man's net navi counterpart, an interquel of ZX and ZX Advent, and a Mega Man Starforce 4 where Zack fuses with Pedia. I can think of how they can make another Zero title, but the Zero series is one of my least favorite Mega Man series.
ReplyDeleteno, crapcom is busy to suck Resident Evil, so hoping them to make X9 is impossible.
DeleteSigh. No plans for X series clearly and I'll never touch X dive. I shouldn't be surprised I guess.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we get a "Sonic Generations" style crossover.
DeleteI feel ya. Capcom flatout seems to hate X, Classic and .exe are the money printers and Capcom does love it some moneys

Deleteguess that means we will never get a canon approval on Dr Wily creating Zero as seen from Megaman arcade on Bass’s ending and its like they still got alot of stories to tell until they reach to the final installment to where Zero gets created
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want the Classic series or any Mega Man series to end? Are you trying to kill Mega Man on purpose? Maybe they can have their cake and eat it to where we have a one-shot that takes place in between Classic and X. That way, you get your ending, and we get new Mega Man titles till the end of time.
DeleteHopefully they bring back stuff like Adaptors, or even try full 3D... becuase it looks like more Classic pandering... ugh.
ReplyDeleteClassic pandering? Do you all SEE now how badly the brand has been damaged by all that spinoff nonsense?
DeleteSays the guy who doesn't care about Mandalorian, Andor, or Octopath Traveler.
Delete"Anonymous",
DeleteThat isn't anything remotely close to a coherant argument.
Or even means anything at all, really. Your whole gotcha is based on not watching a proven damaged brand's TV shows for a franchise I don't care about? And a video game I dont care about? Brilliant. Sheer fucking genious.
I award you no points.
At this point, I feel like they're only doing classic games because it's free nostalgia bucks, and it's easy to do. There's way more work behind a new X/Legends/Zero/EXE-SF/ZX game lol

DeleteBecause Legends doesn't have the boss weakness system, or stuff like Adaptors.
DeleteX9??
ReplyDeletehaven't we gotten enough classic megaman?
ReplyDeletecapcom's gotta quit teasing us and make X9 or finish the ZX series
I would love to see Bass and Proto Man return as playable characters, the adaptors, buster upgrades, and a new unique gimmick like double gear in these next few entries. Any news about Classic series makes my day!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we'll see a proper Mega Man 15, but nothing wrong with a just-in-case scenario.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear that they don't want to over-saturate the market and have it overstay its welcome again in the eyes of consumers.
Great news in my view! Hopefully we will finally be able to play co-op simultaneously with ProtoMan or Bass! It’s about time something like that happens.
ReplyDeleteWow you guys are so negative.
ReplyDeleteBecause a bunch of conservative low budget games does not a revival make. Just look at Bomberman!
DeleteIt's the best chance Mega Man will have. It's never ever going to have a $100 million budget and cater to what you want exactly. And yes it's a revival and best chance financially games like this will have. I got the newer Bomberman for switch too and liked it and played it online some too.
DeleteAnd what else has Bomberman done? A smash AT and Bombergirl are the biggest things I can think of. For something like Joe & Mac, not even that.
DeleteWe've all been burned pretty rough over the years with capcom and MegaMan, so it can be kinda hard to be optimistic when the news isn't a full confirmation of a game or something. Like...I'm not getting my hopes up till there's a strong reason to.

DeleteNo more Classic Megaman, we want Megaman X9... The classic series should have come to an end in time.
ReplyDelete3 games is a lot, I hope they end the classic franchise and go back to exploring the X series and Legends.
As interesting as this is, let’s not forget that Megaman 11 was a face slap to Inafunes Mighty no 9. Great game otherwise. I hope there’s more faces to slap around.
ReplyDeleteMN9 was a circus from day one. I'm not giving Inafune credit for making it.
DeleteI don't get why people want a new X or Zero game. Sometimes things have to end, and X8's poor cliffhanger isn't any different from X7's cliffhanger in terms of how much it means. ZX3? Maybe, but I doubt that will happen, even though it would be nice.
ReplyDeleteWe even see that Axl is fine in Command Mission. On the other hand #GetMeOffTheFinalWeapon.
Delete@Austin Reed
DeleteI mean, to be fair... Command Mission ignores X8 entirely and just follows up on X7 judging by the intro and overall story. Also, why resurrect Iris, though?
Only reason to resurrect Iris would be to user her data to make the Mother Elf. Or something along those lines.
DeleteBut can Iris even BE revived? She is one of a pair.
There's still solid space between MMX and MMZ timelines to have a couple games to bridge the two.
Deletelegends 3 over all else. get volnutt off the damn moon.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone even PLAY this game? Did they not understand the ending?
DeleteThe ending was a gag. Not a cliffhanger.
Nah man, how bout X9. Go on, get mah girl Iris off dat dere Final Weapon, please. (About Axl, we know he's fine from Command Mission).
DeleteStill holding out hope for an X9 to tie the X and Zero series together.
ReplyDeleteWonder if these are just place holder names for other games like Mega Man X because I doubt Capcom would had planned to release that many Classic Mega Man games ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteOoh really? I'm intrigued to see what Capcom has in store for us. :3
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure this is a precautionary act. Remember when the official Mega Man 10 website accidentally used graphics and art by Philippe Poulin (MegaPhilX) because the original name for his fan game, "Mega Man Unlimited", was actually "Mega Man 10"? No legal hoo-hah came from that on either side, but still… yeah, let's not have that happen, again.
