Street Fighter Characters Join Mega Man X DiVE This Week

This week, the NA and EU servers of Mega Man X DiVE's global version are finally crossing paths with the warriors of Street Fighter V. Plus, we have some free Elemental Metal for you!

Find all the details after the break!

Ryu and Chun-Li will be distributed through the gacha capsule on the first week of the event and Akuma will join in a separated gacha capsule the second week. While both capsules didn't have any featured weapon in the Taiwan version, NebulaJoy added the limited weapon Explosive Flamethrower to Ryu and Chun-li's capsule and the Berserker Great Sword to the Akuma capsule.

For now the Street Fighter event is coming first to the NA and EU servers and both capsules will have a single free 10-pull.

When it comes to the LATAM server, Roll Caskett and the limited weapon Jet Vortex Buster will be available this week.

Also, we're happy to team-up with NebulaJoy again to give players some free Elemental Metal. This time we have a code for 200 EM that can be redeemed once per account. The code will expire after 300 players (per server) have redeemed it. Only available for the NA and EU servers during Monday and Tuesday.

To get the 200 EM, use the code RCORNER in the settings menu. Click on Activation Code, type in the code and press OK.

Be quick before they are gone!

Lastly, NebulaJoy is running a social media campaign to give players some valuable rewards. Head to Twitter and Facebook to help the community to reach the goals before May 11!

  1. I hate that they put street fighter characters in the game. they should have just gone the monster hunter route and street fighterafied mega man characters. give us light dressed as ryu for example, or layer dressed as rose, sigma as gil, alia as chun li.

    1. I still don't understand why they didn't throw a Dr. Light in gi in ANY Street Fighter for Ryu. Or as a DLC character in MvC or something. Instead they dress up Ryu as Mega Man. Another in the list of Capcom oddities... When there is actual canon use of Light in Ryu's training gi. It would be funny as hell.

  2. Is Street Fighter V even still relevant? Does anyone actually still play the game? I mean, like, Street Fighter VI is slated for release in a couple of months, here.

This update came out too little too late. And while I'm on the topic, do most Mega Man (X) fans even like that series? This update may have been dead when it was new in Taiwan

In short: Erik has the right idea.

    1. Is Street Fighter V even still relevant?

Yes it still receives updates from Capcom and currently has an annual world tournament sponsored by Capcom running.

Does anyone actually still play the game?

Yes. it is usually the 2nd most played (traditional) fighting game daily according to Steam charts, averaging 3,500 concurrent players, of which it competes with very popular contemporary titles such as Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 and Dragon Ball Fighterz. It is currently the second most entered tournament in what is usually considered the largest fighting game tournament of the year in terms of early registration and is barely behind number 1 to date.

Do most Mega Man (X) fans even like that series?

An impossible answer to give without some sort of direct survey or data collection to corroborate with. However I can say personally that I am, and seeing as how the series was tied to Street Fighter since the very first game with the direct reference of the Hadouken as the ultimate secrete weapon a trend that continued to X2 (with the Shoryuken) capped off in X8 (with the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku). Magma Dragoon being heavily influenced by Akuma (with a Hadouken, Shoryuken and Dive Kick of his own) and homages to Akuma's prayer beads, and iconic Demon Rage back kanji with several other Street Fighter design philosophies. As well as a long history of crossovers of both franchises including (but not limited to) a licensed Mega Man Classic game to celebrate the the 25th anniversary of both franchises in which the bosses of said game are all Street Fighter characters. I would say I'd hope most Mega Man (X especially) fans have a passing interest in Street Fighter, or at the very least not minding it/being indifferent to it.

    2. This is a far more intricate answer than I was expecting for such a loaded question. That's definitely some undeniable proof that Street Fighter is both relevant to the Mega Man X series and relevant to gamers, though. And yeah, I kinda forgot about all the references littered throughout the overarching series.

      Thank you, Mark Havoc.
