There's More Evidence That Rockman X DiVE is Coming to PC/Steam

For the past few months, bits and pieces of Steam-related assets started to appear within Rockman X DiVE's game data, which heavily implied a Steam port was under development.

In March, numerous Steam strings were discovered in multiple languages. A few weeks later in early May, an icon for Steam integration surfaced. The most striking piece of evidence yet, however, was just recently slipped inside the most-recent update data: graphics for different game controllers with at least one aptly titled file name.

Check 'em out below...

First up, a traditional PlayStation 3 DualShock 3/DualSense controller. (filename includes the term 'UI_steam'). This asset shows where different in-game actions are mapped.

While the filename doesn't say it, the shape of the shoulder buttons above suggests that these assets belong to a PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller.

Filename says "XBOX" but, again, looking at the shoulder buttons this is probably either the Xbox One or Xbox X|S controller. It's definitely not the duke, that much we can say.

Finally, we've got the very lovely Nintendo Wii U Pro Controller. Or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Difficult to say. Maybe  bth?

Anyway, that's that. For now.

I'm all but certain we will continue to see more Steam assets as time rolls on. I want to remind you again, however, that a Steam port has yet to be officially announced. While it's looking more and more likely that it's in the cards, there's no telling when it drop.

One thing to bear in mind is, the assets found inside Rockman X DiVE's ever-changing game data -- be it characters, weapons, artwork, etc. -- they are often inserted a long time before they're intended to be publicly distributed to players. So point is, this elusive Steam version could be months away.

In any event, we'll keep you updated as best we can.

  2. Wish I could comment this in a zero related article instead but in zero 3 in stage Area X-2 the one where you fight copy-x there's some interesting information in the background. A bunch of text says: "Dr (unreadable) LASTNoZERO". Does that mean Zero's wily number is Last Number? Granted if the unreadable part means Wily and not Vile(jp Weil).

    1. Zero is designated as DWN-∞

    2. I mean that's good to notice but even without that isn't it already established that Zero was Wily's last work?

    3. Indeed he is, mr anon 3, i anon 2 remember him being referred to as the last of the doctors creations (in this case dr wily) in x2 which i first heard about in a video game review cause i have not completed x2.

    4. Wow somone hasn't completed Megaman X2. That's astonoshing to me, because i started with Megaman X2. Welp i beat the collection and X7. Just need X8. Also, It is obviously Dr. Wily. The megamen where only called numbers in the classic series so it is Dr Wily's last #number. Zero. The begining of the end. (Idk just sayin. Also if you guys got time, check out my Megaman Zero 2 video, no damage vs guardians on mobile. Also got some MMBN vids. Stay tuned for more. @ "Base Bass Forte") stay healthy and have a great day. Peace.

    7. I think it is neat that Zero also goes by DWN Infinity. Kind of synonymous to X's limitless potential claim.

    8. I thought X had a light number, but I guess it's unknown. I didn't see it. I imagine it's DLN-X or something like that.

It is interesting the math behind X and Zero. X being a variable and Zero being a number that represents non-existence. They are antithetical to each other in some ways. Assuming X!=0.

    9. My head canon is that X represents growth, literally in scale of ability, armor upgrades, variable weapons, morals etc etc Hence infinite potential. Also to create, the originator of all Reploid A.I designs for instance.

While Zero stood for destruction, to reduce to nothing would be the most potent form of destruction by definition. Like mentioned above 0 is a symbol of nothing. In popular examples of destruction sites the symbol/name 0/zero is sometimes used zone 0, ground zero (even in Mega Man) Area Zero.

I always thought they were 2 sides of the same coin, X representing unlimited production and Zero ultimate reduction.

Also it's kinda funny how people care so little about XDive as a game that they are more interested in discussing the title/name of Zero.

    10. Does anyone have a source for DWN-∞ being Zero's number? I can't find anything on the web. Is it in a manual or interview?

    11. I forget where it came from but it is legit.

  3. I hope it's not just a simple port, though that's probably what it's going to be.

    1. Not sure why you felt the need to say that in Spanish.

    2. Idk maybe its his only language (then again how did he read the article)?

    3. english is my first language. I can read fairly well in spanish, but I wouldn't feel confident responding in it though.

also, google translate exists. I just tried it on the page. the article is very much readable, and also, all our comments are translated to spanish, even some usernames.

    4. Last time I saw someone respond to something in Spanish related to DiVE, it was because they were personally attacking someone.

    5. Also I think there's two Unknowns on here so I might have gotten them mixed up.

    6. 1:17 Dang, thats messed up.

1:19 yes there are two unknowns (at least it looks that way)this spanish speaking one and also an english speaking one talking about connectivity isdues in x dive.

    7. However i do notice the one word "capcom" meaning that he is just talking about the article instead of attacking someone, so thats good. :)

    8. Yeah they weren't. My bad.

    9. with my decent spanish skills, and without just copypasta in google translate, it looks like he's saying that "seriously, this game is super abused by capcom".

after that, it's a bit confusing as I can't tell if there should be accents or not and if punctuation is missing, but it looks like "how are they going to go on steam if the game is super buggy and the servers are oversaturated"... that or he's using that as an example of how capcom is abusing the game "like how they're going on steam with the game super buggy and the servers are oversaturated".

it doesn't look mean-spirited at all, just regular complaining about capcom not caring about the state of the game and how buggy and crowded the servers are.

    10. I bet this dude/dudette is just thinking "Who the heck are these people and what on earth are they going on about" lol

  5. It's Dr Wily for sure. Only in the classic Megaman where they adressed as "numbers" "#" so yea Dr Wilys last #number Zero; the begining of the end. #0 and it's astonoshing that someone still hasn't completed Megaman X2 to me because i started with MMX2. but i gues it's the new gen kids playing Megaman Zero Legacy Collection on the switch. Man they have it easier. Because in the original GBA Zero games the check points are way more difficult. In the switch, they added allot of check points to spawn at. It's allot easier on the legacy collection. True Megamen play on the GBA. watch my vid called "Megaman Zero 2 - No Damage vs guardians on MOBILE" on youtube @ "Base Bass Forte" yup. On mobile without taking damage in the GBA version. Just used the Ultimate form for instant charge slash. Stay tuned for more MMBN, Megaman. In the future. Rn im making Duel Links vids but once i get X Dive, i"l make vifs of that. Hope you hi me up for our battles which i'l upload. Also gona play MMBN tournaments. Go watch those videos @ "N1GP" channel, their awesome. Aight back to the grind. Stay safe everyone and eat healthy. Listen to "Yo Johnny - Hadouken" or S.A.2 Death Chamber. Relaxing music. Recommend it. Bye.! :3

    2. People in gaming in general these days and even in much of the 90s and 2000s had it way easier than the days where limited credits was the norm and you feel like breaking a controller when having to go back o the beginning when fighting a final boss, or even NES MM games when slide and charge shot did not exist. MM1 was relatively difficult, Ice Man's stage was too, Elec man being hard with a buster shot. Couple that with being a young kid playing it in the early 90s or late 80s. I beat games like Ninja Gaiden, which are not too easy (enemies also respawned way too easily), or Legendary Wings, Life Force, Break Through, or Contra III: Alien Wars on hard mode Contra Hard Corps, and the list goes on. Shmups weren't too easy on early consoles either, but easier than arcades. Obviously arcades make it hard so people will use more coins.

  6. Doesn't mean anything if they can't fix the connectivity issue. The ping difference is blindingly obvious depending on where you live, and it creates an unfair advantage for people in SEA (server is physically in Singapore) when it comes to PVP.

  7. Awesome. I hope this game is ported to consoles.
