In late March, a series of Steam-related strings were discovered in the then-most-recent build of Rockman X DiVE. They carried the implication that a Steam version of the game was in the works. And now, with the advent of the game's May update, a new piece of evidence lends further credence
A Steam icon has found its way into the updated UI data (above). It's among other icons where you can link your Facebook, Line and Apple accounts to the game to transfer save data and/or switch devices.
The Steam icon cannot be seen by players at the moment; the asset is hiding away in the game data until the day it's needed. The Steam-related strings from the March are still there as well. You can read those after the jump below, if you're so inclined.
Pending official word from Capcom, the Steam version of Rockman X DiVE is *not* confirmed. But as evidence continues to mount, it's becoming increasingly likely we might here something soon. Gotta wait and see for now.
These are the Steam strings hiding away in the game data, which, again, were not present up until March. Different languages of the same strings were found as well. Here they are in English:
"w_KEY": "STEAM_TRANSACTION_CANCELED", "w_ENG": "Steam purchase cancelled", "w_KEY": "STEAM_TRANSACION_FAILED", "w_ENG": "Steam purchase failed", "w_KEY": "STEAM_VAC_BANNED", "w_ENG": "The account has been banned by Steam VAC",
"w_KEY": "STEAM_APPID_NOT_MATCHED",
"w_ENG": "Steam product ID doesn't match", "w_KEY": "STEAM_NO_SHOPITEM_DESC",
"w_ENG": "Unable to obtain Steam product description ",
"w_KEY": "STEAM_NOT_STARTUP_FROM_STEAMPANEL","w_ENG": "You are not logged in on your Steam account. Please start the game on the Steam panel"
No thanks because this game is endless game and it will become useless when they decided not to running it online anymore.
ReplyDeleteThat’s some weird logic. Just because it’s an online only game that dies with the server isn’t a reason to not put it on PC. That more reason, IMO, because it will create an influx of players so the game will be alive for much longer than it would be isolated on phones.
DeleteHopefully this leak won't make Capcom back down on this. A steam version would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat's not how it works.
DeleteThen please explain to us in your own line of logic how it wouldn't go.
DeleteMonster Hunter Rise PC and a whole lot of Resident Evil 8 was leaked via ransomware a while back. That didn't stop Capcom from doing exactly as mentioned in said leaks. If anything, the leaks made Capcom announce Monster Hunter Rise PC even faster. So not sure where you're going with this.
DeleteI hope that the Steam release also doubles as a American release, it's long overdue.
ReplyDeleteI hope this is true. Playing this on PC would be great.
ReplyDeleteCue the Story Mode, and the cause of the malware hack inside the DiVE Program.
ReplyDeleteNicee
ReplyDeleteI was interested back in March, and now that I've finally become aware that the game is already in English, I'm even more interested in a Steam release! I'd happily play on the Asian servers, if need be. But then, I was one of those nerds who played MapleStory on the Southeast Asia servers because "they had the latest version", ha hah~ Good times.
ReplyDeleteit would be nice they implement a kind of server transfer feature, because maybe with Steam release we're gonna get a NA server. To not start from scratch
ReplyDeleteThe text strings imply the game will check a Steam account's VAC status.
ReplyDeleteUnless Valve is rolling out some new version of VAC that works on third party engines...
It doesn't work on Unity already?
DeleteI'm gonna pull a tin-foil hat and say X Dive on steam is gonna be announced in the same time-frame as the new Rockman game as an "appetizer" for the main dish
ReplyDelete"Here's Rockman 12/X9/ZX3/"brand new saga", expect it around late 2021/early 2022, in the meantime, play X Dive on your PC comfortably without suffering the pain of touch-screen controls"
"It's becoming increasingly likely we might here something soon"
ReplyDeleteHere eh? Nailed it.
Maybe this potential Steam release will also double as the American English release for X Dive? I wouldn't put it past Capcom to wait for a multiplatform release to be ready when it comes to the eventual American English version.
