To commemorate the series' impending 20th anniversary in March 2021, all eight "New Edition" volumes of Ryo Takamisaki's Rockman EXE manga will be reprinted, publisher Fukkan announced.
The reprints can be pre-ordered individually or in a single set from Fukkan directly. What's more, if you pre-order the books before their intended March shipping date, you'll receive two bonus postcards illustrated by Takamisaki himself. No images of those were provided, though.
The "New Editions" of the manga were initially published in 2016 to celebrate Rockman EXE's 15th anniversary, condensing the original 13 volume series into 8 volumes. Each book featured brand-new cover art, minor panel touch-ups and bonus content (concept and preliminary art).
Unfortunately, these reprints are once again relegated to Japan. There are no current plans for localization in any other region. Viz Media continue to hold the rights to manga in North America -- you know, Mega Man NT Warrior. Beyond occasional reprints of the original 2008 books, Viz has largely sat on the license.
The 20th anniversary is a good as time as any for North America - or any region, really - to get the New Editions. Ah, well...

HGNHHHHHHHHH *tries not to hope too much for a collection/game*
ReplyDeleteMe too man ;-;
DeleteI've been itching to play the Battle Network series again!
this aged well! haha
DeleteVidya game?
ReplyDeleteI brought the 2016 ones in Spring 2019 from Amazon Japan. I can wait for other merchandise.
ReplyDeleteEven if Viz DID release it, won't buy from them. Some other vendor, sure. But not Viz.
ReplyDeleteYou're anti-Viz. We get it already.
DeleteDo you?
DeleteBased anti-Vizer dabbing on bad translations that changes terms, characters personalities and adds censorship.
DeleteThat's half of it. The bigger problem is folks at Viz reportedly wanting to make the Japanese self censor for them so they don't have to. Because the money flow is coming heavily from the west now. Whether or not that happens, who knows. But I ain't helping em get there.
DeleteMarvel and DC comics are losing sales hand over fist because of poor quality. Japanese manga is skyrocketing as a storytelling alternative. They now want to make manga more like comics. Nobody wins if that happens.
shrap: Are you quite finished now?
DeleteWith you? Yep. On the subject? Nope.
Delete^I think you need to be banned from this site. Your attitude is just terrible.
DeleteYES YES YES YES YES YES YES
ReplyDeleteWeird. I thought there was 13 volumes. Maybe I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe first run was 13 volumes, yeah. But New Edition in 2016 condensed them down to 8.
DeleteI wish some body would scan it for us cause the only scans available arn't that good of quality
ReplyDeleteThat one was never released in any form in France. I remember we got the Asada Miho Rockman exe manga in the early 2000, but not that one.
ReplyDeleteI really don't have high hopes but maybe Nobi nobi, the french publisher of Megamix, will pick it up.
Not to detract from BN fans but, shouldn’t there have been a “Legends” anniversary by now? I think 2017 actually, just occurred to me...
ReplyDeleteYes, but too bad for Dash, it was before the MM resurgence. 11 had barely been anounced.
DeleteIt does'nt help that Dash being made around the 10th year of the franchise means it's anniversary will always fall at the same time as Classic (and thus franchise in general) Anniversary. So classic being much more marketable and generally more well known, it always takes priority.
Maybe for 25th anniversary next year.
My god I still can't get over how fucking good they made Forte look in the manga even now over a decade after having read the entire manga it still looks so damn good. Will be getting this reprint just like the last one
ReplyDeleteTomahawkman should be in Proto Soul's place and I don't understand why since he fits in the row with Megaman, Protoman, and Searchman.
