Mega Man X - 1/4 Scale Zero Statue by PCS Announced
The first of many brand-new, officially licensed Mega Man X statues from Premium Collectibles Studio has been partially revealed... Zero! But this isn't your typical Zero statue, no.
While not outright confirmed, the artwork used to announce the statue heavily implies it's based on Zero's birth. The "under construction" visage of the crimson Maverick Hunter -- first depicted in Mega Man X4 and again in Mega Man X5 -- is a fan-favorite. The scene hasn't been realized in any form prior but, with PCS at the helm, you can expect a highly-detailed statue worthy of one's collection.
There are currently no details about price or release date, but I'm assuming we'll know more in a matter of days. Do note, however, that PCS products don't come cheap. You'll probably need to save up a good $300 or more.
In the meantime, you can "RSVP" to be notified when the statue becomes available via Sideshow.

High-End Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero Statues Teased From PCS (Update)
In September 2020, we learned that Premium Collectibles Studio acquired the license to develop products based on the Mega Man IP. High-end character statues and figures, more or less.
And now, the manufacturer has taken to Twitter to tease, what may very well be, an impending announcement...

Check Out This Fan-Made Mega Man Legends Multiplayer Battle Mode
The ever-expanding Mega Man Legends mod scene continues to impress, this time with a full-on battle mode!
The above footage comes to us from Trege, who programmed this very unique multiplayer mode alongside Uradamus (maps and model cleanup) and Kion (reverse engineering tools). It runs on the Godot Engine, which may sound familiar if you've seen the equally cool 60FPS Mega Man Legends 1 "port". This is an extension of that very work.
While only a proof-of-concept at the moment, the basic premise has two (or more) players duking it out across Kattleox Island. This particular bit of gameplay also features a "Eden Invasion", a team-based survival mode that pits players against a swarm of relentless Reaverbots.
Who knew Mega Man Legends would be perfect for something like this? No word yet on a public release, but I'm definitely liking what I see! More soon, I hope!

Rockman EXE Manga Reprint Announced for 20th Anniversary
To commemorate the series' impending 20th anniversary in March 2021, all eight "New Edition" volumes of Ryo Takamisaki's Rockman EXE manga will be reprinted, publisher Fukkan announced.
The reprints can be pre-ordered individually or in a single set from Fukkan directly. What's more, if you pre-order the books before their intended March shipping date, you'll receive two bonus postcards illustrated by Takamisaki himself. No images of those were provided, though.
The "New Editions" of the manga were initially published in 2016 to celebrate Rockman EXE's 15th anniversary, condensing the original 13 volume series into 8 volumes. Each book featured brand-new cover art, minor panel touch-ups and bonus content (concept and preliminary art).
Unfortunately, these reprints are once again relegated to Japan. There are no current plans for localization in any other region. Viz Media continue to hold the rights to manga in North America -- you know, Mega Man NT Warrior. Beyond occasional reprints of the original 2008 books, Viz has largely sat on the license.
The 20th anniversary is a good as time as any for North America - or any region, really - to get the New Editions. Ah, well...

Rockman VR: Targeted Virtual World!! Shuts Down on February 14th
Capcom Plaza Ikebukuro's “VR-X” virtual reality corner is officially shutting down on February 14th. And when it goes, so to does Rockman VR: Targeted Virtual World!!
Located on the third floor of Capcom Plaza Ikebukuro, Rockman VR began operations on July 18th, 2020. The attraction put players in the blue bomber's shoes to fend off a wave of robots, topple Block Man and thwart Dr. Wily's plans to conquer the virtual world. You can watch nearly five minutes of gameplay footage above.
At this time, there are no plans to relocate Rockman VR or the two Biohazard VR attractions to a different Capcom Plaza location. To compensate for this unfortunate news, Capcom reduced ticket prices from 1,500 yen to a mere 750 yen (roughly $7.12 US) until the 14th.
Is Rockman VR doomed to become lost media? Possibly. But there has been some speculation that Rockman VR could *eventually* see a PC port. The game is played with a retail-based HTC Vive Pro on a regular 'ol PC and... it's partially in English!
In other words, most of the pieces are in place for this virtual reality romp to come home. The ball's in Capcom's corner!

Official Mega Man: The Wily Wars Repro-Cart Still in Development; More News Later This Year
The officially-licensed Mega Man: The Wily Wars reproduction cartridge from Retro-Bit was announced in August 2019 with an intended Q1 2020 launch. We haven't heard much from the project since then. Granted, we're living in unprecedented times. The ongoing pandemic has affected it. That said, if you were concerned the project was outright scrapped, I come bearing good news.
Retro-Bit has confirmed that The Wily Wars reproduction cartridge remains in active development with "a lot of action happening behind the scenes" as they prepare for release. More news will be delivered later this year, which could very well entail a release date.
For the uninitiated, Retro-Bit are not only developing the reproduction cartridge but a Collector's Edition that includes bonus goods, too. These include limited edition packaging, mini Mega Man, Elect Man and Cut Man figures (the later is transparent!) and other unannounced odds and ends. You can get an idea of what might be included from Retro-Bit's past Collector's Edition offerings here. They spare no expense!
And that, my friends, is all there is to say on this front for now. We'll keep you posted as more info becomes available!

Original Ruby-Spears Mega Man Press Kits Preserved
We're on a bit of a roll with all this rare and unseen Mega Man animation history lately. And tonight, for your viewing pleasure, we have the complete Ruby-Spears Mega Man press kits from 1994 to 1995. Check 'em out here. That's 22-pages of grade-A, Ruby-Spears cheese.
So yeah; these materials have gone unseen for a good 26-years. They were originally distributed to different television networks in the mid-nineties. Each sheet was meticulously designed to help sell the cartoon -- that is, to entice networks into airing Mega Man and establish a quid pro quo. The show drives network ratings up, and those ratings translate to game and toy sales. Bada bing bada boom.
The press kits also contain unrealized licensing and merchandise deals (a comic book from Bruce Hamilton!) and some pretty uncommon key art, too. I mean, just look at Mega Man's fleshy hand and whatever is going on with Cut Man's face up there. These unpolished designs appeared during a few commercial bumpers, actually. Interesting stuff.
Anyway, we hope enjoy this little slice of Ruby-Spears history! The press kits were donated by @ForcedUserX!

Mega Man Zero 4 Composer Releases New "Falling Down" Self-Cover
It was only a few days ago that Mega Man Zero 4 composer Shinichi Itakura uploaded the original demo track for "Falling Down." Well, he's back at it again -- this time with an all-new "self-cover" composition of Falling Down.
Itakura-san writes, "when I composed it in 2004, I used the guitar to make phrases. However, this time, I tried to self-cover without a guitar. Was it better to dub the guitar?"
Well, what do ya think? The man's still got it, in my humble opinion.
Keep rockin' on, Itakura-san!
