Out of nowhere, a listing has appeared on Amazon Japan for a new retro machine, packed with Mega Man and Street Fighter games. What's more, it might be coming out sooner than you think.
Find all the details after the break!
We already had the chance to play Mega Man: The Power Battle in a similar fashion when the Capcom Home Arcade was released in 2019 but this game selection, if we ignore Mega Man X and the Street Fighter games, kinda feels like a hypothetical Legacy Collection 3, doesn't it?
At the moment of this writing, the Retro Station can't be pre-ordered and the price is not listed. However, for a brief period of time the price was listed as 21.780 yen (176€ or $209).
Amazon Japan lists a release date of December 1st. That could be a placeholder date taking into account we are one week from release, not to mention they didn't officially announce or market it.
The Retro Station will come packed with 10 games, five from the Mega Man series and five from the Street Fighter series and apparently is made by Gantaku, the company that made the NeoGeo mini.
The games are as follows:
- Mega Man: The Power Battle
- Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
- Mega Man X
- Mega Man Soccer
- Mega Man & Bass (JAPANESE CONSOLE VERSION)
- Street Fighter II
- Street Fighter II' Champion Edition
- Super Street Fighter II
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
The dimensions of the station are 34 x 34 x 28.5 cm and weights 2.1 kg. It comes with an HDMI and headphone output and built-in high-quality speaker with super-heavy bass and an 8-inch large screen.
Let us know what you think about the Retro Station in the comments!
UPDATE: The listing has banished from Amazon Japan but we managed to grab some images that show the package.
It makes sense to put the arcades Mega Man games in this machine.
ReplyDeleteThis is'nt cheap, tho, and i don't have the money.
Probably aimed at the most dedicated collectors rather than the average player like me.
Why is a Japanese machine using western branding?
ReplyDeleteFor export, probably. It's a collectible, so it's likely not expected to be bought exclusively by Japanese players. They know some fans could want to export one.
DeleteSo, how would multiplayer even work on this thing? Most of those games are multiplayer games
ReplyDeleteProbably like the Neo Geo Mini, with extra controllers that you can plug into the device.
DeleteThat is a good question?
Deletethis is really cool but I also have to wonder how good a game like mega man & bass is gonna feel with that sort of control scheme...
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder if they translated the game
DeleteSo Mega Man & Bass (Japanese Console) is in English from Capcom of Japan for the first time ? A little bit confused.
ReplyDeleteNo, is just the Japanese game. The SNES version was not localized to English and is not going to be for this release.
DeleteI knew it. Thank you!
DeleteWell, it was ported to the GBA.
DeleteYeah, I know. I disliked it due to limited resolution size.
DeleteOne thing I wonder is why is Megaman X on here? The title says games the Legacy Collection missed, X1 was literally the first game in the series and the first one in the legacy collection for the X ones so it wouldn't really count or fit in compared to the others. the Xtreme ones would fit more if anything or the GB Megaman Line.
ReplyDeleteThat's just the headline for the post. Nothing on the product page references the collections.
DeleteI don't think you understood the point of the article headline. Is a reference to all those titles people wanted and Capcom didn't put in the collection.
DeleteThis is probably the best Rockman/Mega Man news since Rockman 11...now let's hope this mean that there's a new collection coming for home consoles...
ReplyDeletePS : I hate Capcom.
Why does it need so many SF2 games?
ReplyDeleteEr… as fun as this seems, I don't really want to play Rockman & Forte using a joystick and buttons… especially not ones that tiny.
ReplyDeleteMe either.
DeleteI wonder what is the specs for this ? Hmm.
ReplyDeleteFor a sec there, I thought we might actually get a re-release of Command Mission and Maverick Hunter X.
ReplyDeleteOh well.
That machine is clearly thought as a "Arcade game" thing, so it makes sense to use the fighting games rather than a RPG i guess.
DeleteYeah makes sense when you think about it.
DeleteEither way, I blame the phrase "Will Let You Play Games the Mega Man Legacy Collections Missed"... even if there's no "X" in it 😐
I would like to play several of those games, but that's a little far outta my price range and I'd just as rather they'd released it on multiple platforms.
ReplyDeleteI prefer that they should release Mega Man Legacy Collections 3 like Command Mission, Maverick Hunter X, Powered up, Mega Man Soccer, Mega Man Wily Wars and first time never released Rockboard aka Mega Board and Rockman & Forte aka Mega Man & Bass in English!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCommand mission is a Breath of fire game with a MMX skin, I don't even consider it as a Mega Man game
Deletecommand mission is a game that could have been good but ended up mediocre.
DeleteIf the soundtrack where better that would make a HUGE difference.
I am surprised it hasn't appeared on PSN yet to be honest...
You forget rockman and forte 2
DeleteRockman & Forte 2...? If you mean the wonderswan game, it was not made by capcom
DeleteNo it was published by Bandai but licensed by Capcom so it is count and why not.
DeleteMega Man & Bass should have been localized in the SNES version, besides the GBA version.
ReplyDeleteI would have added those from the game boy saga, the Xtreme and the Battle & Chase.
ReplyDeleteThe problem was the number of games capcom chose to put in each legacy collection. The first collection was a quick cash-in and the second was a lazy one. Here's what those collection should have been :
ReplyDeleteCollection 1 :
Rockman
Rockman 2
Rockman 3
MegaWorld
World 1
World 2
Powered Up HD
Collection 2 :
Rockman 4
Rockman 5
Rockman 6
World 3
World 4
World 5
Rockboard
Soccer
Collection 3 :
Rockman 7
Rockman 8 (Saturn version)
Rockman 9
Rockman 10
Rockman & Forte
Power Battle
Power Fighters
Battle & Chase
Actually, I do not agreed with you. The collection 1 and 2 sounds perfect for me. I would love to see Collection 3 and Collection 4 to be release. Like this:
DeleteCollection 1 :
Rockman
Rockman 2
Rockman 3
Rockman 4
Rockman 5
Rockman 6
Collection 2 :
Rockman 7
Rockman 8 PSX version
Rockman 9
Rockman 10
Collection 3 :
Rockboard
Rockman Soccer
Rockman 8 *Sega Saturn*
Rockman & Forte *SFC*
Rockman Mega World
Rockman Rockman
Rockman Battle & Chase
Collection 4:
Super Rockman Adventure 3 discs in one
Rockman Power Battle
Rockman Power Fighters
Rockman EXE WS
Rockman & Forte WS
Yea but there's a problem with the Collection 4 : Rockman EXE WS and Rockman & Forte WS were not made by Capcom and Rockman & Forte is upside down sometime so it could be hard to emulate.
Delete@Anonymous... then I reedit Collection 3 and Collection 4 to this:
DeleteCollection 3:
Rockboard
Rockman Soccer
Rockman 8 *Sega Saturn*
Rockman & Forte *SFC*
Rockman Mega World
Collection 4:
