Here's the scoop from Capcom Unity:
The Bonus Cards, which are tied to the ZZ Cards, unlock as you play the game. Capcom aren't saying which ZZ Cards are tied to which Bonus Cards, though - that would spoil the fun!
Next up, Mega Man ZX 1's Link Mode:
You can see a list of which bosses you'll face with Link Mode enabled - and more information - at Capcom Unity's post here.
All in all, the return of the bonus features is welcome news. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the Zero 3-Battle Network 4 Link Mode, too!
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection launches in North America on January 21, 2020.
"Let’s start with a feature that serves a dual purpose: ZZ Cards! Tracking your activities throughout the collection, ZZ Cards are perfect for completionists and a great way to check your accomplishments as you play through the Zero and ZX games or Z Chaser. They serve a unique purpose in Mega Man Zero 3, too. A little back story, first: The Game Boy Advance had a unique attachment, the e-Reader, which Mega Man Zero 3 could use to scan in cards and unlock various modifications that changed the game in distinct ways. Some of them were cosmetic, like modifying the game’s title screen, changing the weather at the resistance base, or modifying the look of buster shots, while others could add unique NPC dialogues or new rooms to explore. There were even a few that powered up weapons in Zero’s arsenal"!

Next up, Mega Man ZX 1's Link Mode:
"There’s another feature we’re bringing back that used to require original hardware, as well. For old-school players who remember playing Mega Man ZX on the Nintendo DS, you might remember that inserting Mega Man Zero 3 or Mega Man Zero 4 into the Game Boy Advance slot before powering on the console would unlock optional boss battles against Mutos Reploids hailing from each game. I’m happy to confirm that this functionality returns via Link Mode, allowing you to “Link” either Zero 3 or Zero 4 when you start Mega Man ZX to access these throwback throwdowns!"

This is great news. Can't wait to pick this up.
ReplyDeleteThis is the kind of stuff that really makes these collections worth something. I am glad to see these features revived.
ReplyDeleteIf anybody who demoed this game is here, how did the bottom screen on ZX and ZXA work? Just a little curious and impatient. Ya know.
ReplyDeleteYou can choose how it's displayed. It can be positioned on the side of the screen or overlaid in a corner of your choosing. You can also play without it as well. When you do use it, your right stick controls a cursor that emulates the touch input.
DeleteAny word on if the american versions will still have censored blood? In the end I will pick this up if it is as good as what I can do via emulation (There are uncensor patches for the zero games).
ReplyDeleteNot likely, due to wanting that E rating and such.
DeleteNeat features but just saying not surprising or particularly impressive since all of this exists through emulation in some way shape or form.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's fantastic! Never thought I'd get the chance to experience the e-Reader benefits. They DEFINITELY need to add the BN4 crossover functionality as well. I absolutely preferred playing through the Cyberspace segments with EXE enemies crawling around. Made it a lot more fun, IMO.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is pretty great! If we ever get a battle network collection, I hope they'll give BN 4, 5 and 6 the same treatment with being able to access those e-reader card effects as unlockables or something.
