Additional Kotobukiya Max Armor and Hyper Armor Info
Hot on the heels of yesterday's big Wonder Festival reveal, Kotobukiya have added pre-order pages for both the Rockman X Max Armor and Hyper Armor model kits. The Hyper Armor is intended to be a Kotobukiya Online Store exclusive in Japan, but the Max Armor will be widely distributed. In fact, Ami Ami have follow suit with a pre-order page for the Max Armor. Additional listings from other retailers, such as Big Bad Toystore, are expected to appear in the coming days.
According to Kotobukiya's Online Store, the Max Armor will ship in December. The Hyper Armor kit will ship in January 2020 (the site says December but Koto said on Twitter that is a mistake). In terms of accessories, the Max Armor will include an optional face and Buster parts and a Z-Saber that actually lights up! The light-up effects require a MILIGHT 316 LED (sold separately). These are small LED lights manufactured by Hiromi Sangyo. Purchasing the Max Armor directly from Kotobukiya yields an exclusive Kaiser Sigma diorama display.
As for the Hyper Armor, it will ship with an optional face and Buster parts, a "Cross Charge Shot" special effect piece, and "dash" parts. The Z-Saber will not be included with the Hyper Armor but the completed kit will be fully capable of wielding it.
The Max Armor and Hyper Armor kits will retail for 7,480 yen or roughly$68.89. More images are available in the links above.
Man, these are looking good. And the light-up save is a neat touch. The blue to green makes it a really neat nod to the art and games at the same time!
ReplyDeleteIt's really a dream coming true. X3 art are always one of my favorite ever!!!The Max armor is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, love the art style in X3.
DeleteSome younger fans will surely hate this «old» X design
ReplyDeleteOf the original SNES trilogy, this armor is my favorite :)
DeleteIt's up near the top of the entire set. Next to the Ultimate armor, it's arguably the best.
i consider myself a new fan since i only played the MMX serie 3 years ago, and i really like the Hyper Max Armor. if anything, the X8 design is generally the less popular even with younger fans.
Deleteyoung fan her, and in my opinion the cover and concept art in X3 is actually one of the best. So a figure that looks so true to that artstyle is great.
DeleteX1 and 2 still seems a little too "cartoon" in comparison, and x seems shorther, which make him less differentiated from Rock. X4 on the other hand seem to big, since the "big forearms and legs" look is more exagerated in it(it works very well on the ultimate armor, though). i don't really like the x8 redisign, and the command mission one is pretty cool, but change too much from his usual appearance (and the ultimate armor is kinda weird).
just my opinion, of course, and i'm talking only about the art and design, not other aspect of the game.
Ah, so they ARE using the LED's. That's wise :)
ReplyDeleteI knew they would make the gold chip armor exclusive. Oh well, at least the sword lights up.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks about the Hyper armor being a Japan online exclusive, I guess i'll just have to get two Max Armor model kits and paint one in the gold armor colors. Protodude, do you know if the Hyper Armor will have any exclusive parts not included with the white Max Armor?
ReplyDeleteThe cross charge shot is exclusive to Hyper
DeleteI cannot wait for this! X3 is my favorite game in the series.
ReplyDeleteProto, the name of this armor is officially Max Armor then?
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteDid someone else notice X's Sabre is blue, not green. Is that the X Sabre? That would be cool.
ReplyDeleteOr I'd actually call his sword something like XCalibur.
If you install the LED it will light green.
DeleteThe art and sprites always goes back and forth between green and blue
I also noticed that you can get the same LED in different colors... Red, Blue, Yellow, White or Green
DeleteSo there is a little freedom to implement Zero's weapon upgrades there...
Woaw. i did not have plans to buy a new figure before a while, but i think i'm going to change my mind and get this one.
ReplyDeleteIt seems very true to the MMX3 artstyle.
Max and gold armors are available for pre-order at kotobukiya US for $75 a pop
ReplyDeleteOh, nice! I never realized there WAS a US Koto store.
