Kotobukiya Rockman X "Max Armor" Model Kit Revealed (Update)
First announced back in February, the Shizuoka Hobby Show brings us our first-ever look at Kotobukiya's Max Armor model kit. Just like the upcoming unarmored X model kit, the Max Armor is 1/12 scale. It's anticipated to release later this year.
UPDATE: Additional images from the showroom floor. The Max Armor kit will can be used to swap out parts with the unarmored X kit, and it appears Kotobukiya are planning a gold variant as well:

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for a Hyper Max variant.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah! Hyper Max variant! Let's go! Too bad the soft armor is not like the Bandai series (Where is black instead of yellow, i guess they want it to look more like the SNES version)
DeleteThis is absolutely beautiful. I wonder if it will come with a Z-Saber...
ReplyDeleteLove the Max Armor look. This might be the first one of these I buy.
ReplyDeletefinally, getting tired of all the X1 armor merch. I hope we eventually get the Shadow, gaea, and neutral armor
ReplyDeleteMan, these two kits can't come fast enough!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'll get this.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm joining the Hyper Max club. Would totally buy that variant as well.
Looks like the X3 Max Armor
ReplyDeletethe buster part is wrong. They followed the wrong picture.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like that one. Who knows, they might have two different parts.
DeleteI want to see this in color. I hope it's molded with all the orange/red in there.
DeleteWell gotta get the gold version for all the upgrades obviously.
ReplyDeleteOh that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteSome high quality gold X too.
My poor wallet...
YEP. I'm all over that Hyper Max variant! Whooooooo!
ReplyDeleteomg omg omg omg omg

ReplyDeleteYEEEEAAAAH, it's been a long time I'm waiting this baby, just awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe situation should now be improved. Good luck, X.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, one of my favorite armors and I am definitely going to buy it. I hope they do a x2 armor model kit eventually too.
ReplyDeleteIf that IS the only version of the Buster Nozzle, I'll make some 3D printed alternatives that have the more square like nozzle on Bandai's version, for those who need one :) Judging by looks it would be easy to model.
ReplyDeletethat's what's awesome about 3D printing and the hobbyist markets.
That would be really nice of you. :3
DeleteIt all depends how the parts connect and what is separate. If it's just the nozzle, that would be easy enough. If it's one piece with the buster, that will be harder.
DeleteI have done parts before, on Shapeways. Look up shrap_x on their to see some of my work. I did some already for the Bandai models.
If I don't someone else might. There are a tone of custom things on there for Transformers, Power Rangers and a whole ton of other figures, models and trinkets.
You have some really neat stuff on there. I like your icon. You managed to put an LED inside a Zero?
DeleteThe Bandai Mega Armor Zero's orbs are oddly the same size as a 5mm LED, so it kinda worked out. And a 3mm LED fits in the head helmet post with a little modification.
DeleteWhat's hidden is the USB cable sticking out the back for power.
Dang son, you are one clever person.
DeleteYou should see the full pics of it :)
DeleteIt's an X8 version of Zero. The head jewel was replaced with a polished clear plastic with some clear blue paint to give the classic look.
The arms and shoulders are 3D printed. The pics have an older rev of Shoulder Pad, the icon you saw has the current rev.
Fixed a nagging problem the standard Zero figure had, in that the wrist guards were static resulting in odd poses.
I'm still trying to come up with a good power solution to get rid of the USB cord, but the scale doesn't allow it.

Anyway, moving on. That's enough of that.
I don't need it.....
ReplyDelete*Conscious says yes I do oho;*
I know it's not supposed to be slanted, but I kind of like the parallelogram thing going on. It just looked like a giant Dustbuster before this.
ReplyDeletei love theses guys.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking a few days ago that if i where to have yet another X figurine, it could very well be Max Armor in the gold variant. Now it appears my wish will be granted lol
ReplyDeleteI wish this figure comes with Max Armor parts and a full Hyper variant, buster effects and Z Saber
