Every Episode of "Ruby-Spears Mega Man" is Legally Streaming On YouTube

So this flew waaay under my radar but, hey, it's news to someone. So you know that 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of our beloved Ruby-Spears Mega Man cartoon, right? Well if you feel like getting into the spirit of things, you can binge watch the entire show right now – for free.

WildBrain, a subsidiary of DHX (producers of Mega Man: Fully Charged) quietly launched a YouTube channel called "Mega Man Retro" last year. The channel hosts all 27 episodes of the Ruby-Spears 'toon commercial-free. Video quality is between decent ("The Incredible Shrinking Mega Man") to "meh" ("Electric Nightmare"). Still, it's nice to finally have the show streaming somewhere in an official capacity. If the video quality here just isn't your thing, the still-in-print 2014 DVD box set remains a viable option.

However you choose to watch it, there's no better time to check out "Mega X", Cold Steel", "Curse of the Lion Men", and other wonderfully ridiculous episodes. The show's 25th anniversary officially kicks-off on September 11th, 2019.

    1. Yeah I'm not sure why they did that to his name.

  2. No matter how many times I see them, I'll never get over those weird muscly arms for robots.

  3. I stumbled upon WildBrain not too long ago. How? Watchin' some of these episodes lol. Some are pretty out there, but there's many nicely written, well animated, and still very watchable episodes even by today's standards. 20,000 Leaks Under the Sea, The Strange Island of Doctor Wily, and Bot Transfer just to name a couple.

Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever get tired of this nugget of my past lol

    1. Bro Bots was an interesting one and it's a shame they didn't start to develop an arc for possible character development there. Future Shock wasn't bad either - I think it was a roundabout way of posing "what would happen if Mega Man died/disappeared" but of course they had a really dopey way of executing how that happened.

  4. Looks like in September I'll have to binge watch the whole thing on their channel. I do have the ADV Films Sets, and the Disotek Media Set. But if a lot of people watch it online on their Youtube channel rather then the new series maybe they will take notice of that and make another series. Just a thought....

    1. Is the Discotek dvd set worth getting if I already have the old ADV sets? Been kinda debating it for a while.

  5. How nice of them to go to all that trouble. It's nice to sit back and watch a show that was very enjoyable for its time.

    1. This was one of the reasons why I came to like megaman if that counts for something.

  6. All the videos are stretched out.... -_-

Thankfully, you can get a plug-in that will fix that, but still...

  7. No matter how cheesy the 95 Megaman cartoon can be at times, it's still leagues better than the new series.

    1. Fully Charged is getting better, but it's not like a hypothetical Mega Man anime series wouldn't be equally silly or stupid with its episodes.

    2. Depends on how they do it and if they make it a serious series or not.

    3. Don't even joke about that. The Ruby Spears cartoon was a mistake.

    4. I feel that way about certain MM series but I keep my yap shut.

To be fair, the Battle Network anime exists and is pretty good.

I know that's not the Classic series, I just mean to say that it could be done and done well.

Battle Network was okay as far balancing the silly with the serious. I just picture Japan being pretty juvenile with a Mega Man series in general.

    8. Ultrix Soma, you act as if your opinion is a fact when in reality it isn't. Believe it or not there are people that actually enjoyed the Ruby Spears Megaman cartoon. It wasn't perfect but it was still Megaman and during that time period it was awesome to have a Megaman cartoon in general. Still better than the new series as far as i'm concerned.
