Europe's odd obsession with disappointing local Mega Man fans continues today with confirmation that Mega Man 11 will not have a physical release on Nintendo Switch. Not only that, it sounds like the new Mega Man amiibo is MIA, too.
From The Nintendo Channel:
Capcom Europe has confirmed to The Nintendo Channel that the Nintendo Switch version of Mega Man 11 will only receive a digital release in the UK and Europe.
Furthermore, regarding the release of the new Mega Man amiibo, the company has said there is currently "no announcement" regarding a European release.
Capcom USA is responsible for the North American release plans, which will see the game get a retail release on Nintendo Switch on its own and as part of the amiibo bundle.
Though the Nintendo Switch is region free, it's disheartening to hear that fans will not be able to pick up a physical copy within their region without paying large shipping costs and import taxes. What a bummer.
I'll let you know if anything changes. For now, it couldn't hurt to shoot Capcom Europe's social media channels a message (keep it civil, please). A little support might go a long way. UPDATE: Here's a petition to get the ball rolling.
What's that you say? Low confidence? Yeah it really looks like Capcom has faith this product will storm into consumer's hands...
ReplyDeleteThis is sort of common for europe to get the short end of stick for games sometimes so kind of expected
DeleteIf only there were a reliable source for quality, fully-functional bootleg video games.
DeleteSomeone willing to offer what the copyright holders won't...
sucks for them.
ReplyDeleteMan.. MM11 was the only capcom game I was even considering to buy since their treatment a cancelation of Legends 3.. feels like they don't want me as a customer...
ReplyDeleteblame capcom Europe for this.
ReplyDeleteCan't say that I'm surprised! Capcom's really shafted Europe, when it comes to their games!
ReplyDeleteThen again, it's been statistically-proven that no one in Europe plays video games.
Right? Right…? Riiight…?!
(No.)
Well, that just means that I won't support Capcom Europe and will instead import the game. Doesn't really matter, one side loses a sale, the other side wins one.
ReplyDeleteBloody Sacrebleu. Disapointed that i will not be able to get it without import.
ReplyDeletethey don't want to risk investing what it would take to make a physical release because they're not sure that enough peoples would get it...and because they will not be physical release, it will lack the exposure needed to make this gam sell outside of video games fans, risking that not enough peoples get it. the serpent bitting it's tails.
I really hope it get enough communication so that enough peoples hear about it at least.
Will there be translations or will it be in english only?
ReplyDeletei have little hope about it, but still asking.
So long as there are Switch owners somewhere in the world getting screwed, Capcom is happy.
ReplyDeleteThis decision should create enormous demand for the U.S. version...
wonder if theres gonna be PS4 and XBox physical releases in Europe... Capcom has shown us with Legacy Collections that they dont care much about Europe
ReplyDeleteThat's okay. I am a NIntendo Switch owner but I am getting PS4 version for two discs. Hate digital/digital only and physical separate doesnt make any sense. PS4 version for me then.
ReplyDeleterock with his trusty mega-plunger
ReplyDeleteActually, that's Roll's cleaning device.
DeleteSeen with the Roll Nendoroid:http://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/7025/Nendoroid+Roll+Mega+Man+11+Ver.html
So what you are saying is Roll is so useless she doesn't even clean the house when Rock is around, Rock even has to do that. But hey at least she's a cute loli-ish being that can amass more favorite votes amiright?
