Mega Man 11 Amiibo Edition Announced for Nintendo Switch (Update)
Hot on the heels of today's big Mega Man 11 news, Capcom have also announced a brand-new Mega Man amiibo and a special edition for Nintendo Switch.
Mega Man 11: Amiibo Edition will ship with a copy of the game, stickers, an adhesive patch, microfiber cloth (with all of the Robot Masters on it), and the new Mega Man amiibo! On the flip-side, the Japanese version will come with a guide book and poster. Now, it's still unconfirmed but early listings seem to indicate this is a GameStop exclusive in the US. It is not available to pre-order yet but I imagine it's coming really soon. UPDATE: It's live on GameStop!
As for the amiibo itself, there's no details on what it actually does. For now, though, you can check out some additional images after the jump. It looks great!

There's a Mega Man "Totaku" Figure in the Works
Earlier this year Sony launched the "Totaku Collection", a line of collectible figures based on characters and franchises that appeared on PlayStation consoles. So far we've seen Totaku based on Crash Bandicoot, Heihachi Mishima, PaRappa and Kratos, among others. And later this year, it looks like Mega Man is joining the mix.
A listing for a Mega Man Totaku has appeared on a memo of upcoming and unannounced Totaku figures from GameStop with a Decmeber 1st release date. No images are available at this time but chances are it will be Mega Man's classic incarnation. Like previous Totaku, the figure is expected to stand at 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) and retail for $9.99.
More details (and hopefully images) in due time. Hit up this thread for the complete list of upcoming figures!
Thanks for the tip, Motwera!

Mega Man 11 Release Date Possibly Leaked, "Double System" Details (Updated)
UPDATE: The page has been removed. Screenshot above, description below!
Original story: The Singapore PlayStation Store has published a page on Mega Man 11 with an October 3rd, 2018 release date. Not only that, they've got a full description for the game too (including a small bit about the "Double Gear" system) Check it out:
"Mega Man is back! The newest entry in this iconic series blends classic, challenging 2D platforming action with a fresh look. The stunning new visual style refreshes the series' iconic colorfulness, combining hand-drawn environments with detailed, 3D character models.
To save the day, the Blue Bomber must battle Robot Masters and take their powerful weapons for himself, which now changes the hero’s appearance with new levels of detail. The innovative new Double Gear system lets you boost Mega Man's speed and power for a new twist on the satisfying gameplay the series is known for.
A variety of difficulty modes makes this the perfect opportunity to experience Mega Man for the first time!"
At the moment its hard to say if this is the game's actual release date or a placeholder. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for an official confirmation – E3 is just a couple weeks away!
Thanks, Wario64!
An Interview with Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya
This week's issue of Famitsu included an interview with Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (who, if you may recall, is also the producer for Mega Man 11). Tsuchiya talks about the compilation's various features and project's origins (part of which was an attempt to surpass the 2006 Mega Man X Collection!). Here's a small snippet:
Famitsu: How were the details on the production of MMX Legacy Collection getting set in stone in the first place?
Tsuchiya: In the Mega Man 30th anniversary milestone, we wanted to not only make the 11th Mega Man but also to seriously revive Mega Man as a brand. Mega Man X has fans around the world just like the original, and he’s having his 25th anniversary this year.
In order to make Mega Man X—which was considered a masterpiece—playable in the modern era, we need to revive the brand. And if we miss this opportunity, there might be no chance for Mega Man X to go through his 30th anniversary. With such a reason, we decided to release it on the timing of his 25th anniversary.

Mega Man: Fully Charged Booth at Licensing Expo 2018
Spotted at the Licensing Expo 2018 showroom floor, here's a look at the Mega Man: Fully Charged booth. It's also a charging station – get it? GET IT?
Anyway, couple things of note here. For one, we've got a new logo with the "Fully Charged" subtitle attached. Second, the banner closest to the ceiling has a new Mega Man render. And third, it's confirmed that the toyline from Jakks Pacific is due out in 2019. It will be completely separate from the toyline that's launching later this summer.
Check out a few additional images after the jump. A huge thanks to Eleanor Prior for the images!
New "X Challenge" Details From Famitsu (Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2)
This week's issue of Famitsu has quite a bit X Challenge mode coverage. The magazine did not go into detail about the recently revealed story mode but there's still a lot of stuff to take in. Here's the lowdown:
- X wears a brand new white and blue armor exclusive to X Challenge. Though it's based on the Ultimate Armor, it's purportedly different enough to be considered new. No specifics available at this time.
- You can choose up to 3 Special Weapons from 9 available to take into battle. You cannot change your set until you've cleared an area. Special Weapons are from X1-X6.
- There are a total of 27 stages.
- Difficulty levels determine the strengths of Mavericks, if your health replenishes into the next stage, and whether or not your remaining time carries over.
- X Challenge Volume 1 (X Legacy Collection 1) and X Challenge Volume 2 (X Legacy Collection 2) have different stages. Examples:
- Stage 1-3 (Vol.1): Slash Beast & Crescent Grizzly
- Stage 1-3 (Vol.2): Web Spider & Wire Sponge
- Online rankings (leaderboard) confirmed
That's about it for now. Thanks to BlackKite for the info!

"X Challenge" Will Have a Story Mode in Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2
As previously reported, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 will feature a new "X Challenge" mode that let's players battle two Mavericks at the same time. However, it now looks like there's a bit more going on here than we thought.
According to a preview of this week's Famitsu, X Challenge will feature an original "story mode". It remains to be seen just how in-depth the story will be or if there's a unique story to Collection 1 ("X Challenge Volume 1") and Collection 2 ("X Challenge Volume 2"). Whatever the case, this is pretty interesting. Story mode might even explain that mysterious, seemingly new white armor we've seen in past previews. It's something to watch for.
Also worth pointing out, a few Mavericks from Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 are making the jump to "X Challenge Volume 1". Duff McWhalen, The Skiver, Commander Yammark, and Blizzard Wolfang come from Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6 respectively. We still don't know too much about who will be included in X Challenge Volume 2, though I don't believe we'll be seeing anyone from X7 or X8. There's been little to no evidence to suggest any of the "3D" bosses will appear.
Expect additional details on Thursday when this week's Famitsu is officially released. Stay tuned!

Footage of Rare and Lost Mobile Rockman Games Surfaces
At the time of this writing, it is next to impossible to download and preserve the many i-Mode, EZweb and Java exclusive Rockman games that released in Japan between 2002 and 2011. Capcom Japan have long abandoned support for those platforms, leaving dozens of these weird Rockman games lost to time.
There are, however, ongoing efforts to rescue and preserve various i-mode games (hit up that link for more info). And while nothing has come out from the Rockman front (yet), we are lucky enough to have recorded evidence that these games once existed. YouTubers from Japan has started to upload footage of several "dumb phone" Rockman games, some of which we haven't seen in motion before. It looks like he has all of them on his phone so we can be hopeful they'll be dumped eventually. In the meantime, this is the next best thing. Check out the videos in the link above or after the break!

Famitsu Published Your Mega Man 30th Anniversary Comments
Hey, remember when Famitsu asked you to fill out a Mega Man 30th anniversary survey? Well, several of your responses made it into this week's issue. I would like to note, however, that they only published comments about the classic series. So if you talked about anything else – X, Battle Network, Legends, etc. – you didn't make it.
With that out of the way, read on for the comments that made the cut!

Here's Another New Character From Mega Man: Fully Charged
Back in March we caught our first glimpse of five Robot Masters from Mega Man: Fully Charged, the new animated series hitting Cartoon Network later this year. Most were recognizable, one or two not so much. Today we're looking at someone that fits into the latter: a mysterious, yellow fellow rocking some major Starscream vibes.
This image comes to us from the latest Licensing Source Book, the very same issue that revealed the show's new subtitle, "Fully Charged". It remains to be seen if this character is a reinterpretation of a classic Robot Master (Gyro Man? Astro Man? Maybe someone from Mega Man 11?) or an original character entirely. My money's on OC – remember, we're to expect quite a few of those.
I don't believe we'll be waiting much longer to learn more about this guy. I've spoken with an artist on the series and it sounds like more concrete details about the show are coming this summer, if not sooner. (Licensing Expo starts May 22). My ear will be on the ground.

New Mega Man Cartoon Retitled as "Mega Man: Fully Charged"
This month's issue of Licensing Source Book Europe has a small blurb on DHX's upcoming Mega Man animated series. According to the issue (page 62), the series has been renamed to "Mega Man: Fully Charged" and it will make an appearance at this year's licensing expo (May 22-24). The series will reportedly air on Cartoon Network in this US this fall accompanied by a toyline from Jakks Pacific.
For the uninitiated, here's the show's official synopsis from DHX's website:
"Aki Light is a regular, upbeat, robot schoolboy. He lives in the futuristic world of Silicon City, co-inhabited by robots and humans. But this robot boy has a secret... Deep within his programming lie protocols that can transform him into the powerful hero, Mega Man! When the villainous Sgt. Night and his evil team of Robot Masters emerge with ill-intentions, Mega Man dedicates himself to protecting the citizens of Silicon City.
Equipped with his Mega Buster arm cannon and the ability to absorb the powers of his opponents, he bravely battles the wickedest of villains. In this brand new series inspired by the iconic Mega Man video game, comical, action-packed adventures abound as we follow the journey of Aki Light and his alter-ego, Mega Man, as he strives to balance life as an ordinary robot boy AND an amazing superhero."
Expect to see more from Mega Man: Fully Charged very soon.

The Mega Man Board Game is Getting a Sequel
Jasco Games are moving forward with a sequel to their officially-licensed Mega Man board game. The news comes about a month after Jasco announced continued support for the original board game, which released back in 2014. Here's what they had to say:
"Greetings Megaman Fans!
Jasco Games is currently in the process of contracting out designers to both develop updates to the Megaman Board Game, as well as to begin designing Megaman the Board Game 2!
We will have more updates as we get further into the process of updating this board game as well as developing the second Megaman the Board Game. We appreciate your continued support and dedication."
It remains to be seen if a Kickstarter campaign will accompany the new Mega Man board game. Either way, I'll keep ya posted.
