Just in case the footage from the game's official Japanese website wasn't enough, a Capcom representative has confirmed that the Super Nintendo version of Mega Man X3 will be featured in Mega Man X Legacy Collection. At this time, however, it remains to be seen if the PlayStation version exclusives – the animated FMVs and soundtrack, – will make their way to the extras gallery in some form or another.
This was one of the more popular questions I received in gathering feedback for my go-to Capcom person. I have a number of questions about Mega Man X Legacy Collection that I've sent off. Some of these include:
- Will there be a rewind feature?
- Will there be dual audio?
- Any plans to re-translate/redub MMX5 or MMX6?
- Will there be an option to turn off the often-intrusive Alia dialogue in MMX5?
- Has The Day of Sigma been remastered in any way?
- Is the bonus museum mode content split between the two collections or is it the same regardless?
What other questions do you have? Drop 'em in the comments. I should be hearing something back relatively soon!
"THIS ONE IS TOTALLY INFECTIOUS!"
ReplyDeleteWould you mind asking them about the PS1/Saturn/PC version of MMX3's cutscenes and soundtrack being present as extras in the gallery?
ReplyDeleteI mean, I guess it goes without saying -- but it would still be good to know.
LOL! It’s capcom I wouldn’t hold your breath ( no offense )
DeleteWhat's the reasoning behind releasing separate 1+2 collections for both MMLC and MMXLC when you released the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection all in one package?
ReplyDeleteWhy not have two carts in one Switch box, or all of the content on one cartridge like with the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection?
Why doesn't the American release have a physical cart for MMXLC2?
Would Capcom be willing to put out complete physical collections in the future for $30 to $40, like with the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection?
Is DLC planned for these collections? If so, would it be possible to purchase DLC of restored HD commercials, the PlayStation/Saturn version of X3, or games not included in this collection, such as Maverick Hunter X, the two Xtreme games, and Command Mission?
I second this! Mostly for the all in one cart and the dlc!
DeleteI find the 2-part X Legacy Collection strange as well given that Street Fighter was a single collection. And the whole MMXLC1 on a Switch cartridge with a MMXLC2 download code thing is completely absurd. Is a 32GB cartridge not enough space? Why not two cartridges?
DeleteRegarding the Street Fighter collection, the answer's simple: it's too expensive.
DeleteThe arcade versions of those twelve fighting games come to less-than-1-GB, in size. In contrast, two Playstation-era Mega Man X games, as they were back then, come to a bit over a gigabyte. I'm not entirely sure what X7 needs, in terms of space, but I would assume somewhere around 700 MB. The PC version of X8 only needed about 1 GB of disk space. I'm sure there are a few optimization techniques that could squish those sizes a bit, but still.
As many people have said, bigger Nintendo Switch carts (cards?) are pretty pricey, for whatever reason, so having to put upwards of 4 GB of data, not including the high-quality extras, onto a single Switch cart would be a bit expensive, since they opted for a physical release, for those games. (Even if the second half is Japan-only, right now.)
Otherwise? I really don't have more of an answer.
They did confirm on there site that museum mode is the same aside from artwork and music wich are game specific as are the challenges want proof check the japanese website
ReplyDeleteVery happy about this! The metal inspired soundtrack of X3 is so good on SNES. That awesome Blast Hornet theme!
ReplyDeleteAre the animated cutscenes remastered in any way or form?
ReplyDeleteI have a few questions
ReplyDelete-Can dlc be possible for X3s PS1/Saturn version?
-Can co-op be added into X Challenge?
-Will there be any other videos such as interviews and HD footage of what GameSpot got of RockMan X7's early gameplay footage focused on X only?
-Can we see the removed bonuses from the original MMXC added in?
-If these collections sell well can we see a limited release of both MMXLCs on one cartridge for the switch similar to Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition?
Even if I have to pay more for it like FE Fates SE I'll do it.
If you don't send any of my previous questions you must at least send this one:
-Can we finally see Sentsuizan's button mapping fixed in X6?
It's been 12 years ever since their last attempt to fix it and at this point there is no reason why they can't fix this now. Last time they tried to fix it we got this response for why it wasn't done:
"Oh, the horror of the Sentsuizan. There's actually an interesting story behind this one. The move, originally mapped to Up+Attack while in the air, HAD been fixed, as evidenced by the "Got weapon" screen telling you to press Down+Attack in the air. This was changed for an unknown reason in post-production when one of the programmers mistakenly remapped it to the original button combo. *sigh*"
Anyway thanks for sending the questions for us Protodude!
...Uuuugh. Not a fan of a lot of X3's SNES instrumentation. Granted, X3's soundtrack has never stood out to me as one of the franchise's best, but the PS1 version makes some tracks more bearable than they would be otherwise. I think about the only track I prefer outright in the SNES version over the PS1 version is the first phase of the Sigma fight.
ReplyDeleteMy question would be, will this collection give the player the option of a maxed-out New Game+ right from the get-go? The Mega Man Zero Collection featured what was basically a story mode that focused on powering the player up and giving them everything from the beginning so that challenge wouldn't be a factor, so I wonder if this will have something similar to act as a crutch for new players.
Are X Challange Exclusive to Bosses of X1-X6 Or will we be seeing some mashups of X7-X8 Bosses? or X7-X8 Bosses paired up with the bosses of X1-X6
ReplyDeleteWill X4 be based on the Playstation or Saturn version?
ReplyDeleteHas Mega Man X7's gameplay been tweaked in any way? Increased running speed, tighter wall-jump physics, certain collision issues, anything easily tweaked by the changing of values or other such edits, being non intrusive, but positively effecting the core functionality?
ReplyDeleteWe just dodged a bullet on that one. Loading times and the horrendous midi soundtrack in the non Snes versions of the game really put a dent on it
ReplyDeleteIt was probably recorded via MIDI, but it doesn't sound like what I'm assuming you're referring to. I think the soundtrack sounds good in its own way. Took a different direction, arranged by X4's composer.
DeleteWill Megaman X collections have new features and new modes?
ReplyDeleteWell, that's disappointing. The Saturn version of X3 is leagues better than the SNES version. It has way better music, and the animated cutscenes are a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteIt was never released in America. Only JAPAN AND EUROPE. Yeah, I like it better than the SNES version, thought. Oh well. They are lazy, I believe. We should complaint to them and dont be SILENT! COMPLAIN TO THEM! They dont care what we want.. They are after our money. SPEAK UP and GET WHAT WE WANT FIRST!
DeleteThey included the PS1/Saturn version in the last collection and everyone complained about it.
DeleteNot a total deal-breaker, but I think there should be an option to play whichever version you prefer. It would take extra work, but ultimately lead to a simple "SNES/PlayStation" prompt. If you're going to present a "Legacy" Collection, then go another extra mile. At least have all the cutscenes in the gallery. =P
DeleteYep and they are including the SNES version in this collection and fans are still complaining about it. Without both versions of X3 Capcom can't win all of X3's fans over.
DeleteThose are the facts!
For the record, I very much appreciated the PS1/Saturn version being presented in the PS2 Collection. Mainly because it's probably the most easily accessible method to play the Saturn/PS1 version for many. I personally never experienced it before and, hey, I like 'em both.
Deleteis there a possibility to play the english version in the japanese games on Switch ? (is there any option to change the language ?)
ReplyDeleteThis will determine if I buy the japanese ones.
enjoy your inferior soundtrack, guys :)
ReplyDelete-ShadowRockZX 2018
DeleteJust listening to the Blast Hornet 32 bit right now....god it's awful.......
DeleteThank you capcom !
Rockman X = rock music
One more thing : that's what I call a superior remix
Deletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28-QtSVyDAo
enjoy !
I rather rip my ears than to listen to the arranged soundtrack.
DeleteI'm wondering if they'll have X pre-unlocked in X7.
ReplyDeleteWhat about x8? The PC version had several screen resolutions. Those options will be available on the new compilation?
ReplyDeleteAnd what about command mission and maverick hunter?
X8 will have a higher resolution here. No word on choices. No CM or MHX.
ReplyDeleteI know they're not available. I want to know if they're planning something. Thanks for the reply protodude!
DeleteGladly.
ReplyDeletewell this got posted in the wrong place somehow... oh well.
DeleteThose are excellent questions. Looking forward to answers.
ReplyDeleteIf they add a menu toggle just to disable the Alia messages from popping, that would be good enough for me. They don't need to add the Select command.
The X6 mapping would be fantastic.
And I hate the Guns'N'Roses mavericks. That's just bloody stupid.
These are teeny tiny changes that would be fast to implement and really make the whole experience much better for everyone.
Add X2 to the games that deserve re-translation. The implications that Serges is Wiley (just like Isoc) is basically completely cut out of the English script.
ReplyDeleteIt's apples to oranges when you look at it, really. Serges lamenting that he's been beaten by Light's memento robot, again, can mean from their earlier fight in the game, as I'm not sure when Wily has fought X in any form. However, Serges knowing of Light directly is definitely suspect.
DeleteThe SNES X3 OST is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the PSX/Saturn version. The PSX version is so freaken mellow, soft and dry/generic it damn near puts me to sleep every time. I can't get pumped to play a hardcore action game with that limp, tame nonsense.
ReplyDeleteNailed it! That's why I'm happy about this.
DeleteWill Zero or Axl be playable in X challenge mode or only X?
ReplyDelete1) Will there be an option to play the Japanese versions of each game like in the Mega Man Legacy Collection?
ReplyDelete2) Will each game version have its own save states like in MMLC?
3) Will the gallery have all new information or will it just contain old information from guidebooks and the like?
4) Are there new music tracks for the X Challenge?
5) Will there be a subbed version of Day of Sigma in the gallery?
6) Will the product gallery have additional info for each product? (IE pages from the manga or translations for cardass descriptions)
7) In X Challenge, Frost Walrus and Chill Penguin are teamed up, which is interesting because the latter can be found in the former's stage in X4. Was this an intentional nod or just a coincidence?
8) Will slowdown be removed?
9) Will Mega Man X5 still have the time slow effect due to the wormhole in Dark Dizzy's stage?
10) Will X still say "Hadouken!" and "Shoryuken!" in the X1/X2 ports?
11) Are there script revisions such as X saying "damn!" in X1?
12) Will X6 retain voice acting?
Thanks in advance for any you send their way.
-Will there be higher resolution/quality of animation cutscenes (especially for X4 and MHX) available? The current ones are so blurry...
ReplyDelete-Could English voice for X4 be redubbed? MHX did amazing job, but X4 and 8 were so poorly dubbed in English back in 90s...
-In "Museum" mode, could we see the newly released illustrations as well?
-If we can, could we see each characters' separate layers as well? so many characters are overlapping each other in the new illustration and I want to see each character full version illustration.
The Japan official site has confirmed that the contents of the museum mode for the 2 collections are the same except the soundtrack part.
ReplyDeleteRegarding X Challenge:
ReplyDeleteWhy is X wearing the Ultimate Armor?
Is Zero playable?
Are there challenge stages in the 16-bit look and feel?
How about, "Will X1-3 have slowdown present or will it be removed like in the previous X Collection?" (It was last I remember, or am I incorrect?) Even if they're emulating them, there are ways around it, as recent SNES9x-libretro cores have added an option and it works beautifully with X1-3. I'd be so bummed if they still have it in this collection.
ReplyDeleteAlso, will they fix the pixel scaling issues in the 2D games? In promo video/screenshots, you can see a very uneven scaling for the 4:3 mode because they are scaling from 1x to 4:3 directly, rather than using "sharp-bilinear" which would scale to 4x with nearest neighbor (or largest applicable integer scale for the resolution you are using) and then scaling to your final 4:3 using bilinear, which really helps to hide those uneven pixels.
Also, will we get a 1:1 PAR output mode or not? I'm just not totally sure if the statements made are regarding pixel aspect ratio or simply the filters they have vs no filter. Here is an album with various mockups illustrating my point: https://imgur.com/a/DP2Vs
Also, will X7 and X8 have native widescreen support? All footage so far doesn't show that, and being 3D games, it's something I think most players would expect. I think the old PC versions had hacks to do so, at least X8. Who knows about X7, it barely runs as is on newer hardware. (Or older hardware too lol)
I'm sure I'll think of more. Hope they will answer these soon! I'm really excited about this collection now after seeing the Challenge Mode!
