UPDATE: Additional story info, card breakdown added.
Twenty five years later, Bandai are reviving the Rockman X & Rockman X: Mega Missions collectible cards. Mega Missions 4 is set to launch in March 2018 with brand new cards, characters and an original storyline inside a big 'ol package called "Rockman X & Rockman X Mega Mission Selection Box". Here's what's inside:
- 126 Normal Cards (reprints of the original Mega Missions 1-3 cards)
- 9 NEW Foil Cards (two of nine pictured above; couple more here)
- 33 reprinted Foil Cards (from the original Rockman X carddass series)
- Collectible Binder (holds every card)
- Booklet (16-pages; chronicles Mega Missions storyline and includes an original Iwamoto comic taking place after X5)
Rockman X & Rockman X Mega Mission Selection Box will be sold exclusively through Premium Bandai. Though some Premium Bandai items are available to ship internationally, that doesn't seem to be an option for this set right now. I'll let you know if anything changes.
In the meantime, I'm working on getting an accurate translation of the general plot/character information posted here. From what I've gathered so far, it appears iX is back alongside a pair of new cronies: Himmel (a Reploid that rules the skies) and Berg (a Reploid that controls the land). To combat this new threat, X dons a new armor called the "GrowUp" armor. Yes, that's the name they're going with.
Lastly, X and Zero will be mounting a new Ride Chaser dubbed the "Gazelle". This puppy can transform from a Ride Chaser to a Ride Armor on the fly, significantly boosting X and Zero's strength and mobility. Bandai actually planned to produce the Gazelle as a real accessory in 1996. A prototype of the unreleased Gazelle can be seen in the link above. Unfortunately there are no plans to revive it.
More news and updates on this front soon. Stay tuned! (thank to Sensei Hanzo, Reploid_21XX and #20 for the info)

ReplyDeleteiX, X kai, and Copy X. Why does X have so many evil versions?
ReplyDeleteGuess everyone wants to have X's awesomeness.
DeleteX Kai doesn't really count. There's only 2, iX and Copy X, and even then, the Bandai cards are of dubious canonicity to the games
DeleteHe is cool and they wish they where that cool.
DeleteBecause Zero was too busy hogging the spotlight, so they had to compensate outside of videogames.
DeleteI'd rather Copy X be the one that doesn't count.
DeleteIs this a game or just a collection of cards?
ReplyDeleteJust cards. Sorry to say.
DeleteCollection of cards. Story unconnected to the main X Series. They're still cool, though. The Cards,I mean.
DeleteMeh. Not bad. Not a fan. But...not bad.
ReplyDeleteIs the info correct?, the product page says the box comes with 33 reprinted foil cards, no that the 33 foil cards abelong to the X Carddass reprint. Likely they will have all the foil cards of the original Mega Mission and the rest will be used for the X Carddass reprint.
ReplyDelete9 new cards? just 9?
ReplyDeleteput it in english and il buy it since i have none.
That iX design is just plain silly.
ReplyDeleteRide Armor looks bitchin' though
wait a minute, what's that ride armor toy on the bottom there
ReplyDeletedid they make a new toy?
I NEED ANSWERS GET A MOONRUNE TRANSLATION OUT STAT
Not a new toy. It's an unreleased product shown for the first time. It was designed in 1996
DeleteKeep in mind that Mega Mission's story is 100% non-canon to Capcom's official Robot Universe. But it Is canon to it's own seperate Universe. I made a list of Mega Man Universes. I'll show it to you guys if you're interested.
ReplyDeleteIt's always refreshing reading opinions about the timelines. Specially since a lot of the fandom (me included) just take ZanSidera's opinion as canon, hahahaha.
Delete...I don't even take my own opinions as canon...
DeleteMega Mission always had a few odd discrepancies with the games that sort of make it its own little thing.
-X3: Doppler' allegiance?
-X5/X6: Zero armour?
-XS: Reploid revival? Sigma?
The cliffhanger doesn't help any, but atleast we're getting the long-awaited resolution next year.
X and Zero are riding cyclones...X AND ZERO ARE RIDING FUCKING CYCLONES!!!!!!!! Is this pre or post Mega Man X4? I NEED ANSWERS!
ReplyDeletePost-X5
Delete>includes an original Iwamoto comic taking place after X5
ReplyDeleteI'm hype. Are you hype? Because I'm hype.
Is this preorder going to be Premium Bandai only? I tried search on all Affiliated Service Company but no such item listed. Any other ways to preorder or buy the cards when it release?
ReplyDeleteWe're waiting to hear back from Protodude or anyone else on that.
DeleteThey really should bring this shit over to the US if they realize how much more popular Mega Man is in the states than in Japan.
No news right now, sadly
DeleteThanks. I'll ask anyone who have been purchased from there or check other Proxy Buying Service.
DeleteI like the old art style of these cards.
ReplyDeleteBadass cardass!
I like the old art style of these cards. It is very beautiful and fascinating.

I read this new article a little late and I was sad to find out that the pre-orders were already closed. Luckily, I am currently in a trip to Japan and I could grab a box on Yahoo for the same release price! Which is pretty dope considering everyone else is already selling them for almost twice the price.
ReplyDeleteNow, Checking all the cards inside, all 168 cards are there, but the reprinted Carddass series apparently came in random numbers. There are 33 alright (11 per X game) but it skips several numbers.
I coincidentally happened to have bought random loose cards (from card shops around Tokyo) of the same Rockman X Carddass series, and they all happened to be numbers that did not come in this selection box (12, 42, 117, 119 and 121).
As a passionate X fan, of course I'd like to collect all the missing cards from that specific series, which might be a pain, but there's the fun of it. So, my questions are; does anyone know how many cards total were in that series? (so I know where to stop!) And also, does each box come with different random 33 Carddass cards?
Cards in my box:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 24, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 65, 66, 78, 80, 82, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 107, 118, 120, 122, 123, 124.
