Rockman 30th Anniversary Postage Stamps Coming to Japan
Japan Post announced they will be launching an official set of Rockman stamps for the series' 30th anniversary. Further, the set will ship with exclusive 30th anniversary t-shirts seen here and here. Reservations will begin on November 20th for 5,400 yen.
Surely there's a stamp collector among you that might find this interesting? I dunno. I can't say these are particularly exciting commemorative stamps – nowhere near as charming as, say, Mario's set. Bummer.

i wonder what the japanese fans think of all this merch and no games we have for the past 7 years?
ReplyDeleteIf you watched the TGS 2017 Mega Man panel stream, you would know that many japanese fans were pretty shocked by the reaction of the western fans, they couldn't understand their rage. For them, the panel was just to announce merchandise and that what they got.
DeleteWhy spend the time drawing new art work in a classic and well loved style like the Mario stamps when you can just reuse the same 8-bit sprites you use for everything else?
ReplyDeleteWhy indeed.
DeleteI know that it's the 30th anniversary and the classic series started it all, but for gods sake there is more to the series than 8 bit stuff, even IN the classic series
ReplyDeleteAgreed. This is likely due to the idiots who to this day still hate Mega Man 7 and 8's change of sprites and expect Mega Man to stay in 8-bit for his games to be any good. Damn 8-bit loving snobs.

DeletePlease. This is "due" to Capcom being Capcom and it being extremely cheap and easy to slap this same stock art work on everything. You think they would be bothered to re-draw the original robot masters in the style of Mega Man 7 or 8? (Barring Cutman who actually had a sprite from 8 )
Anon 3: His name isn't "AnonymousNovember 24, 2017 at 1:40 PM", lol.
Deletestamp are a classic for comemoration of anything. Now thoses are a bit simplistic, i agree with protodude, something like the mario stamps would have been nice.
ReplyDeleteI just want the 30th anniversary artbook with the MegaMission stuff and the official promo art that they didn't include in the 25th anniversary book. Please Capcom. PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteWould it kill them to use the actual hand-drawn art at all or draw some new mail-related images of Mega Man and the other Robot Masters opening a mailbox, getting a love letter, or something along those lines? I mean, come on, this is just that really pitiful. At least Mario is staying creative.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful way to display a stamp collection! I have a box full of stamps that I collected when I was little.
