It's
been a long time coming but the wraps are finally off HMO Collectibles'
1/4 scale Mega Man X statue. Pre-orders go live tomorrow for a whopping
$599. More details and a trailer after the break!
HMO writes:
"In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of Megaman, HMO is proud to release the definitive 1:4 scale Megaman X statue for your collection.
An official Capcom licensed product, HMO’s Megaman X is a scene stealer for any serious collector. With unprecedented size, detailing and a dynamic pose, Megaman X brings joy to the collector, whether or not you are a hardcore fan of Megaman X.
With removable armour plates, HMO’s Megaman X offers a multitude of display options for your pleasure to mix and match. All artistic representations of Megaman X’s internal circuitry, power capsule base are officially sanctioned by Capcom’s creative team. Painted by James Tce, an artist of the best in his art, Megaman’s thrusters and metallic parts are brought to life with realistic sheen and weathering. You can spend hours just admiring the details crafted into this piece’s perfection.
A very special red variant is available.. in the sleek reflective paint. As though the Blue variant is not rare enough, the red variant is even more limited in numbers!
With just 200 pcs of Blue, 75 pcs of Red and 50 pcs of the Ultimate Set."
For the time being the statue can only be ordered from Singapore. Bookmark this page and come back tomorrow with some dough.
The statue looks fine for the most part, but the eyes are atrocious and the back of the helmet is lacking detail. No point in pandering to me though, as I can't afford the thing anyway.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look quite as bad when you're staring X down, based on the photos from the Facebook page.
DeleteWe've officially reached ridiculousness. I can't even understand what market these items are being priced at and marketed to. That's more for one collectible than groceries, auto insurance, cable and electricity on a monthly basis. Who can drop that kind of coin on one Mega Man X statue except lottery winners and the insanely rich?
ReplyDeleteI'm not rich, but I would put down the money for the Red X if they shipped to US. They offer payment plans.
DeleteI would also not consider myself "wealthy" in the financial sense (I do not make a 6-figure salary), but have many collectible statues in this price range. I actually think that this is a good price considering the very small size of the edition; usually smaller editions are more expensive. There are lots of factors which go into how much money individuals are comfortable spending; savings, debt, montly expenditures, etc. all vary per person. Lots of people pay $100+ a month for cable television, which personally I do not have; I'd personally rather spend $600 on a nice piece of art and not have cable for 6-7 months.
DeleteThis isn't in the cards for me, though; I'm not totally in-love with the scuplt, but it's way better than any of the First4Figures Mega Man offerings.
These are fair responses. And I'm the first to say if you have the money and want nice things you shouldn't be judged for spending the money to have them. I recently unsubscribed from a YouTuber who spent all his time judging people for what they spend on SNES games, even though he came from a middle class family himself. I don't abide hypocrisy and I won't tell people to not enjoy their money -- life is short. For me though it's a whole lot of money to sink into something you can't even play with or enjoy -- just stare at. That's just me.
DeletePass. I got the MegaMan holding dead zero statue and I thought 300$ was nuts but I got a decent tax return. Plus $600US is like $4,000 in Canadian lol... very nice thoUgh
ReplyDeleteOh dear God my wallet...please...stop...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely too expensive for me, but I guess I can see why. Very sick statue.
ReplyDeleteGeez, it's amazing and I love it, but I could buy a Switch and some games or controllers for that.
ReplyDeleteNot the biggest fan of the face, if I'll be honest. I can't exactly say why, other than maybe the pupils look a little too dark(although that could just be the lighting). I'm not going to say anything about wanting more faces or anything, since I know it's a statue and not a figure, but eh, this doesn't really look like it's worth the price point.
ReplyDeleteMore pictures here, including one angle with a more flattering view of X's face: https://facebook.com/groups/934144400030135/
ReplyDeleteWonder what the Ultimate set is, and how much they'll want for it.
X's internal design was sanctioned by Capcom's creative team? I've never seen those boosters coming out of X's back (no counting any armor sets or the April fools redesign). Are those part of his actual design?
ReplyDeleteI guess they are now. Maybe they're planning something.
DeleteLove it! Absolutely love it. The face looks good too, something most figures don't get right. I'd love to get one of those. Really impressive work
ReplyDeleteAre we looking at the same face? It's atrocious. How could the eyes even look good? And the helmet is all wrong. The middle part stretches all the way to the bottom back of the helmet which was not how the original design is.
DeleteSo many X figures. Like the other person said, I'm a bit fatigued on them too. I just wish someone was smart enough to do a whole line of Robot Masters/Irregulars (Mavericks) but I guess it's too risky.
ReplyDelete$599! RRIIIIDGE RACER!!
ReplyDeleteit looks great
It doesn't ship the the US or to Canada....
ReplyDeleteWow... that seems like a massive fail....

DeleteBest megaman X statue i have seen by far . Face/eyes are looking good also ! No idea why people are complaining , not to mention the internal parts are just amazing ! Well done HMO !
ReplyDeleteI am ashamed to admit I pre-ordered this thing. I was totally not gonna (I even didn't even like it when it was first unveiled), but after seeing the removable pieces and the sexy robot parts inside.... I went from hater to fan... I am ashamed because I could do way better things with that money, but if anythings, this gives me motivation to work harder, make more money, and hopefully I will feel better once I see it sitting in my home. If not, I can always sell it for a highly stupid ridiculous price and make a profit :evillaughter: win-win?
