Official Rockman X Novelization Announced

Ahead of Rockman X's 25th anniversary, a novelization of the series has been announced. The book is being produced by Japanese publisher PHP Institute, written by Tsubasa Todoroki, and illustrated by none other than Rockman X manga artist Yoshiro Iwamoto. It is tentatively scheduled to release in Japan on January 26th, 2017.

Presently, it remains unclear just how much of the X series will be covered in the book. Iwamoto and Todoroki promise forthcoming details shortly. What's more, there's no word on availability outside of Japan. Importing is always an option, but there's little assurance the book will be available in English at this time. I'll keep you posted nonetheless.

  1. So the novel take pieces between the games, or is a novelization of the game events?

    2. But he is right. Except for X1 the story is pretty vestigial.

    3. No he isn't. The manga and MHX both attempted to expand it and did a pretty good job of it.

  11. don't know about this author... is he a megaman fan?
if no, they'll have to have him carefully play the games tough and trough to get things right.
if yes, they'll have to check to make sure the guy don't just go and write it like a fanfiction.
hope it'll be good and get translated at least in english. maybe in France (i'm french), i see more megaman stuff heading her, recently

  13. God if this even turns on half as good as some light novels it will be worthwhile buying

  14. If it's released in English (which I'm sure will happen since UDON released a Street Fighter novel recently), I will definitely buy, even if I hate Iwamoto's art.

  16. An X novelization would be pretty boss. I'd love to read about the stage bosses having more personality like Iwamoto did for the manga. I wonder if the writer will use the manga interpretations of them, or come up with their own.
