Mega Man Legends 3 Documentary Released by Get Me Off the Moon

It's been a solid five years since Mega Man Legends 3's untimely demise. For those wanting to relive the journey, Get Me Off just launched a near-half-hour documentary covering the entirety of Mega Man Legends 3's short life. From its inception and cancellation to the founding of the Get Me Off the Moon community itself, no stone is left unturned.

I applaud the efforts of everyone who put this together - it's very well done and incredibly civil. Despite all that has transpired these last few years, the GMOTM community remains positive and diligent. Small they may be, there's grace in the efforts.

    1. Yeah, you should read this, from Capcom's ex-R&D director.:

    2. ive seen that

but with megaman they pretty much gave up for the zero collection the last megaman they didnt really advertise it i found it about it from a friend

Advertising has changed but capcom doesn't follow trends no idea why but if they did they would be doing well as a company

Example would be Fire Emblem both recent games had a massive amount of advertising and that brought the series back from possible extinction.

Capcom needs to have faith in its product

    3. Fire Emblem got lucky the relatively successful platform it was marketed on had very few competition on it, both GBA and DS-line had way more viable options to choose from for tactical RPGs and other options in general. To make this competitive state even possible Nintendo themselves had to sacrifice the more successful Advance Wars line. Granting all that it still barely sold a million units.

If they had put so much money and resources into Fire Emblem and it still failed it would have been 2x as bad.

  2. I'd really like to watch... I... Just cant bring myself to. Even today, just seeing any piece of art from the project gives me a depressed feeling. Heck, just writing this did. But I know the vid is probably phenomenal.

  3. Is there anything that prevents CAPCOM from doing the kickstarter for MML3? Is it a bad move? At least we can see how many people are really into it even if the campaign isn't successful (and backfire, meaning that CAPCOM will not bother about it again for the next gazillion years).

Please don't "Red Ash and M#9 suck therefore no MML3", just in case if somebody trying to come up with that kind of argument.

    1. Because a multi-million dollar studio doesn't do that sort of thing.

    2. Unfortunately, but they can use the platform for statistical data and then add the appropriate funds to the developtment team.

      So we're left with:
      1. Begging continuosly and hope for the best.
      2. Some miracles like getting a greenlit from the higher-ups.
      3. 3rd party developers (still required Capcom permission though).
      4. Random luck?

So as an example, something like Inti Creates through Kickstarter with Capcom's approval isn't a possibility because of their status (I mean Capcom)?

Secretly hope for one of the Capcom Staff to read this so s/he can do something about it.

  4. It's really too bad. The Prototype footage looked really pretty, especially for a 3DS game. Much better looking than some other games that came out instead...

I can understand not making the full game but they should've at least released the Prototype version.

  6. ...Five years... freakin' 5 years... after Megaman Legends 3 was cancelled. This makes me... sad. Definitely sad.

  7. I don't understand how this can have a whole documentary... Couldn't the whole thing be summarized like, "Legends 3 was announced, some contests were run, but then a lack of numbers killed it," or something?

And why is this the only game that ever comes back up? No one seems upset about Mega Man Universe or Rockman Online getting scrapped. Other than me, I mean. I still want my "Mega Man Powered Up 2" and officially-licensed Mega Man MMO, dammit.

    1. I'm upset about Maverick Hunter X2 being canceled. They basically had the whole soundtrack done for it. I really wish they'd release the music for it at the very least.

    2. Oh my god! I completely forgot there even was one (probably because it got so little coverage)! That, my friend, is also a shame... It would've been interesting to see how the new storyline would have played out.

    3. It's really not as simple as you put it. They never even released the little demo that was apparently supposed to gauge interest, so it's hard to justify the cancellation with "lack of numbers". Not to mention that MML and MML2 are the only 3D platformers in Mega Man (aside from X7 which nobody likes) and are both really good - a lot of people probably felt that would be refreshing, unlike a 2D platformer which has been done to death by now. Not that I don't want to see Powered Up 2, or Maverick Hunter X2, but in all honestly MHX1 and PU1 were not that great IMO. Oh, and MMOs are always terrible.
