Anyone Up for a Mega Man Fan Convention?
The Mega Man community has long entertained the notion of a grand gathering. Our biggest limitation, I think, has been location. From Canada to Australia, we're truly a global community. We've got a bit of a ways to go but "Mega G.A.M. Con" could be a step in the right direction.
Long-time Rockman Corner reader Sean "Nz17" Robinson is hard at work setting up a Mega Man gathering at his G.A.M. (Games, Anime, and More) Convention. It's set to take place in Naples, Utah at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham. The eight and a half our convention will include a number of activities, including cosplay contests, trivia, Mega Man cartoon viewings, Q&A panels and dozens of Mega Man games on-hand to play.
A fun incentive involves "unlocking" additional events and activities when you buy a ticket. For example, depending on how many tickets are sold, the convention will play host to special guests of honor, i.e former and current Mega Man staff members. Yours truly might be there too!
If you're interested, tickets are $20 per person. Children ages 9 and under get in for free. For more details and a full run-down of events, check the G.A.M website and Facebook.
What? Utah? Isn't that place being bombarded with tornados or torrential rain?
ReplyDeleteWould of been better it was in California as most major cons happen.
Well, not tornados or torrential rain, but still Utah? What? Must be one of those wanna-be cons. But still sounds like fun though, but unfortunately have to pass.
DeleteIt's also the headquarters of a pseudo-Christian cult (Mormons). I'll pass.
DeleteJesus Christ, what's with the unnecessary savageness?
DeleteI have no use for California.
ReplyDeleteAt least somebody is doing an effort, here in Mexico theres none of this. If you're not taking the chance just stay quiet.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going.
ReplyDeleteGood camping in the area, so its a two-for-one trip!
Shame, Utah's too far out of my range. Hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteI'd be more up for this if fans weren't the only ones doing anything worthwhile with Mega Man these days. If we could go there and celebrate the new game(s) on the way, that'd be awesome. But all we have is Mighty No. 9 and I'm starting to feel like I'm in a pretty significant minority for actually looking forward to the game thanks to many blunders and many more people not understanding how Kickstarters generally play out. :/
ReplyDeleteOne more reason to be depressed that I'm not older.
ReplyDeleteDang.
I'm curious how many people made it to attendance.
ReplyDelete"Our biggest limitation, I think, has been location." I have to disagree. Our biggest limitation is that we are fans of a LONG DEAD FRANCHISE. Just let it die with the likes of others, like Banjo and Kazooie. No self-respecting company would lead us on lies and false hope for 6 years.
ReplyDeleteUhhh you do realize we've tried this before in the past when it was "alive?"
DeleteMega Man isn't as dead as you think. It's in a period of transition
