The 8-bit Mega Man Star Force Fan-Game You Might Not Play

Megacocorock's 8-bit version of Mega Man Star Force has not only been revived but completed as well! In true Megacocorock fashion, it's not available to the public. But hey, don't let that stop you from admiring some footage. Enjoy!

  1. Why bother ? Megacocorock won't share it with us.

    1. Because it's fun and interesting to view?

    2. It would be more fun to actually play it.

  2. Those Heart Wave and Kizuna Wave Enemy Deleted jingles were a nice detail.

  3. These fan games continue to impress me.

  4. Looks neat. Would rather be able to play it though. Seems like a gigantic waste if it's not released to the public.

Almost as bad as Capcom refusing to release the Legends 3 Prototype...

  5. Why would someone put a ton of effort into making a fangame, then not let anyone else enjoy it?

  6. Why would he make something, record it, and then put it on YouTube? I mean if he won't share it with ANYONE, then why did he make it?

  7. Sometimes I wonder why Megacocorock will never release any of his projects to the public... Maybe since he believes people would want to use some of the resources used in the stuff he makes (as useful as those Dimensions sprites would be with making an NES-styled &ForteWS).

  8. Will this guy ever release any of his games? I bet we'll see MMX: Corrupted and Half Life 3 released before any of Megacocorock's games.

    1. No, never. He/she had lots of fan made and he/she never released it.

  10. Maybe he's a fraud. Maybe they're only animations. :p

  11. Megacocorock is a troll and a hoarder, none of his fangames are going to be available on public. You better had a chance for Mighty No. 9 the 3rd and by that time he'll be still trolling with his latest fangame.

He even disabled the comment section!

  12. Why is there so much vinegar toward Megacocorock? Seriously. I genuinely don't understand. Is this one of those "information should be free" sort of things? I mean, I guess I can understand being upset that they're making all these cool fan games, but never publicly release them, but consider the following: Megacocorock is a dabbler. They dabble in music and they dabble in fan games. To the best of my knowledge, they've never actually shown a full-length fan game to this day. Just bits and baubles from fan game projects. Thus, every video so far could be considered a "work-in-progress" video. So maybe Megacocorock doesn't want to share anything until it's completely finished? Or maybe they never intend to finish anything and just want to show off the neat stuff they've made anyway.

Now again, I can understand the frustration of not having something tangible that you yourself can test out... but to throw out terms like "fraud" and "hack" around, calling Megacocorock a "troll" just because you aren't getting what you want seems a little ridiculous to me. It's rare that I echo the statements of the finger-pointers, but Mega Man community? You are your own worst enemy. This kind of reaction over a little work-in-progress video of a personal project is exactly the sort of crap that makes it not worth the time and effort to release anything to the community. Even if a demo were released, how long would it be before the lot of you started demanding more? Or demanding the work-in-progress builds of things? Maybe... just maybe... that's exactly why Megacocorock doesn't want to share their stuff with the community. Because of your unwarranted vitriol and selfish-centered attitudes toward what should be something novel, nostalgic, and fun to watch.

But, hey... that's just my two cents.

    1. Blah, blah, blah. I've seen you dish out plenty of your own "unwarranted vitriol", especially toward Keiji/Comcept/MN9. Get off your high horse, hypocrite. And quit italicizing every other word.

    2. I don't know what vinegar is a euphemism for in that context, but if it's hate, there is like 1 person slightly disappointed, 3 people mildly confused or curious, one playfully instigating rumor and lastly exactly 1 outright badmouthing out of the 17 previous comments to mine. Other than that it is either you explaining reasons for releasing fan made media relating to games outside of releasing games, or people complimenting the content.

He is indeed a troll..... and a hoarder too, oh yeah right! I forgot to put this ----> :P to indicated I'm not mad when I posted that.

He used to enabled the comment section for all his fangames but not any more. (I didn't know if other people on youtube ever "terrorized" him and that cause him to disabled it, maybe he was annoyed, I'm just there to read what's new like every month, too lazy to create an account just as I'm here on Rockman Corner.). Is it hard to just reply something like "No, it is still a work in progress" or "I don't intended to shared it to public" or just ignored the comment section while leave it enabled?

I didn't ask for a demo or a work-in-progress builds nor demanded for a released. He keeps adding a new fangame, how will his past fangames are going to get finished like this? Especially the Roll-chan fangame, remember that one?

      Check this out:
      http://tarbosan.blog66.fc2.com/blog-category-24.html

I don't mind if he said it wont be released for the next 5 years, I can even wait for the Mega Man stuff.... X9, 11, ZX3 and the rest for all these years without complaining even if Capcom never intended to make one, but I just can't stand the hoarding mentality (and I'm also agree with you if he really mean to finished it first then released it later, but that is only if he really have the intention, look at some of the fangame maker in the past, they loose their passions for whatever reasons and then abandoned their projects).

He did finished the Rockman Diver Kai before but he didn't want to make it public because he was afraid of getting sued by Capcom or something if I'm not mistaken. And I'm afraid he'll use this kind of excuse again.

Capcom will released a mobile MM game next year, if it is a unique one, I can assured you that he will make a fangame concept out of it too like he did to XOver and Mega Man SSB4.

He is like Inafune. Before the Mighty No. 9 even get finished, he already busy with cartoon shows and other shenanigans :P

And yes, I'm badmouthing him for a reason and If I'm wrong, I apologize.

See now, you actually bring up legitimate counter-points though. And a goodly amount of them! Plus, you presented them in a calm and rational way instead of getting super-aggressive or hyper-defensive.

I'm not saying I'm right in what I said. I've never talked to the person, myself. I'm not even sure they'd reply if I did. Maybe they're ridiculously paranoid about Capcom, or maybe there's other things at-play we don't know about. We may never know. All I know is that it's unfair for people to start throwing insults and making demands of Megacocorock just because they've never released anything but teasers to the public. Not saying you specifically did, mind you. But people in this comment thread have... and I've seen other comments in the past of a similar nature, so...

      Thank you for being reasonable.

That's okay man. That's what happened when somebody like me put a short comments without explaining stuff and at the same time I don't expect others to understand my reasoning because we're not aliens with telepathic minds, it is just that I'm too lazy to make a longer post especially if it involves ranting and whining stuff... sort of. And moreover I'm struggling with my grammar and tenses evidently as you saw it, in which I hate the most I tell you haha.

Seems like Megacocorock had a beef with someone named nettopainter. Read the comments from the link and you'll get the idea:
      http://www.rockman-corner.com/2013/02/another-look-at-roll-chan-fan-game.html?m=1

Megacocorock set some of of the fangames videos to private especially all of the Roll-chan videos on youtube not sure when, probably a couple of months ago I guess? If he's not willing to shared those videos, I don't think he is going to released the Roll-chan fangame (he better prove me wrong), maybe because he scared if other people are going to rips the graphics and used it on their own fangames? And yet he can ripped on others without giving credits (based on that link if it was true)? He could just straighten up the issue by saying something like "It's an original sprites." instead of evading. It's not like he don't understand english because he did replies to some posters years ago in english.

And no doubt Megacocorock is a talented one, perhaps he intended to perfected the engine or perhaps he just put the demo out there to show off and he rarely interacts with the posters about updates and stuff and who knows if he really intended to share the finished fangame, we're left hanging. He better states and makes it clear if he don't want to share it so that those of us who are anticipating can move on instead of waiting for nothing, you yourself know how it was feel like to waiting for stuff especially when it was meant to be released, I understand about patience but this one is different as I already stated in my previous post (that's why I called him a troll and a hoarder based on what I've observed so far, other fangame makers are not like this... well at least not some of them, others I don't know about, but then again... maybe it is because of language barriers, you know, like having a problem to addressing to a longer type of conversation but he can still reply in japanese, we've got translation tools these days even if it is not that perfect). I find it is such a waste when such talents are belongs to the self-gratifying people (most of the awesome stuff comes from these kind of people).

And right now at least the US branch of Capcom are still tolerate with Mega Man fangame creations as long as they are not monetize in any way, shape or form (I failed at tracking for this particular link, can't recalled the exact words either, it was years ago). But the former Capcom Senior Vice President Christian Svennson said "From a legal standpoint, we can't possibly sanction fan games (we run the risk of being viewed as not protecting our IP and therefore could lose the rights). Are we likely to proactively go after something, not likely. But as always, if you have to ask and we're forced to give an answer, the answer is not likely to be what you want it to be.".
      Look under the name "Sven":
      http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/28095465/What_is_Capcoms_stand_on_fangames&post_num=13#504146063

So what I'm afraid of is when Capcom will no longer tolerate fangames in the future when they started to re-established the Mega Man franchise. That's means, those of us who are looking up for these fangames are going to be the biggest suckers ever because we don't have the chance to experience it, haha! Maybe nothing is going to change, just speculating.

    6. Sounds like that nettopainter guy with the Roll sprites is being butthurt. What are the chances this Tarbo/Megacocorock guy even used his sprites in the first place? Is there any definitive proof? He probably used the sprites from a different Mega Man game and modded it or something.

I don't know, but Tarbo could say something instead of avoiding Nettopainter's pm. If you have a youtube account, why don't you try to pm Tarbo and tell us about his stance, if any.

My faith in Tarbo will only be restored if he released something to the public (pc and offline demo instead of web-browser flash game). The last development of the Roll-chan fangame was in 2014 as you can see through the link in my first long post.

  14. It's one of those "I'm awesome because I've got something that you don't!" and "You can see them but you can't have them :P" kind of stuff.

But after re-reading some of his blog-posts with google translator, I think he intended to release each one of them after they are completed. Unless his blog-posts are not meant for us, the audience.

This particular game was stated as "partial finished" (some sections are done?), how many percent? I don't know. Maybe I read it wrong:
