Pardon the hyperbole, but the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra whipped up a truly fantastic Mega Man suite early last month. The orchestra partnered with Manami Matsumae, Takashi Tateishi, Yasuaki Fujita, and Harumi Fujita for one hell of a performance. Grab your headphones and get ready to chill.
More video game tunes from the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra can be found here. Have a listen, if you'd be so inclined!
Why does everyone think orchestra suits everything or something is elevated when done orchestrally?
ReplyDeleteI like this but orchestra is the most pretentious form of music that ever existed. I am not saying any other genre is better or worse mind you just that this one has a self worth beyond any other.
Don't know why I ranted (maybe because ochestra is annoyingly boasted all the time especially in gaming) I do like this piece though.
I disagree. Guitar is the most pretentious when in pretentious hands. Look at how many renditions there are of MM2 Wily Castle Stage 1.
DeleteI can't really disagree but two things I have issue with in that example, one, rock kinda suits WS1:MM2, and two WS1 is overrated. So I might be conflicted with the dislike of the over usage and esteem of that particular track, and my dislike for the style used to over use the track. I'm willing to go with the former cause I know personally unless remixed beyond recognition another genre style remix of WS1 would not impress me at all (if there is even one left that it didn't use).
DeleteBut I agree some tracks just don't match with an all rock arrangement. In my personal experience though loads of generic rock arrangements get criticized due to their merit, I rarely see this for orchestral renditions, it's just like they get a free pass just cause of the sake of being orchestral.
I personally think "wub"-step is the most pretentious form of music known to mankind.
DeleteNot for any reasons relating to Mega Man remixes, mind, but because dirty fricking noise sweeps are not freaking music.
But hey, it sells like crazy and everybody loves it, so I'm probably wrong. シ
yeah i listened to it when it was out! it's amazing, also, everyone should listen to the entire concert, it's fucking good quality!
ReplyDeleteMy body wasn't ready.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the original composers' involvement was, other than maybe the orchestra getting their blessing? Also, did anyone else see that Ogeretsu-kun himself commented on the video!
ReplyDeleteIf you wonder why less and less people comment on this blog is because protodude censors comments he does not like, even if that means letting his blog die because people no longer disagree with eachother........
ReplyDeleteUhhhh. Okay?
DeleteIf your comments deliberately attack someone, you don't get published. Period. Everyone else has a say. Not sure where you're getting this from.
That is censorship, you have your own personal definition of comments that "attack someone",the truth is you just do not approve comments you do not like that is why less and less people are commenting. lets see if this comment gets censored......
DeleteYoull have to specify which comment I did not like that didn't get published. Go through any post with comments and you'll see a range of diverging opinions that I hold no bias to.
DeleteWhat the! This anon's comments sound like something I would say, is this a coincidence, was I sleep typing.....
DeleteNo, this person at one point or another had comments that didn't go through for no reason that he or she could think of working within the confines of the rules for this site, then decided to take it up with Protodude. Yeah.... yeah that's it. Confirmation that that was not me would be nice though, scary thought to be sleep typing.
Try to register an account & see if you're brave enough to attack someone with a nasty comment behind an anonymous account.
DeleteBrave? The heck, it's a comment on a Mega Man site not a bungee jump or shoot out.
DeleteWhat is it with people and that "man enough" internet bait nowadays?
@Anon: Trying to cover up your own foolish comments? Try again lol.
DeleteYa know, it's weird. I've said a few things I later felt bad about (usually comments that started massive attack-and-counterattack discussions), but as far as I know... I've never been censored, unless I was the one who did it. And if some comments on past posts are any indication... I don't think Protodude really "censors" too much, so long as posts aren't just gibberish or something.
DeleteThough, some posts do get lost in the ether for no real reason, sometimes... But that happens with e-mail, too.
Proto you did well. Some people are just total assholes and their hate should be allowed online. And to that guy saying the blog is dying. Its not and you are ignorant which is quite visible. Its his blog and he is allowed to select what is posted on here.
DeleteOr would you rather him approve all comments even the racist one and turn this blog into a crap hole?
Think before you open your mouth dude
You know what's the good thing about being an Anon Mr. Dick, you'll never know for sure.
DeleteOn another note (I am honestly not the anon that started the thread I am the one with the response to being "brave" take that how you will don't care) notice how derailed this section is.
Mega man needs a game badly if more people are willing to respond to petty nonsense (like I did with the brave thing) than talk about the actual content of the post.
You know what comments you did not like and did not get published protodude, the ones disagreeing with the blog news or disagreeing with other posts, also if you guys do not think all comments should be allowed (spam being an exception) go learn something called freedom of speech assholes.
DeleteIf there is a feature to flag awful posts, ^this is it
DeleteBasically, think of the most delicious thing you've ever eaten.
ReplyDeleteNow imagine if instead of tasting that, you'd heard it.
That's basically this performance, to me. Heh heh.
WOOW that was WAAAAAAAAY above what I expected it to be. That was spectacular!
