Here's a bit of a head scratcher for you: Capcom Japan has reportedly pulled the plug on individual Rockman websites. These include:
Only a pair of outlets survived the purge: the official Rockman portal and Rockman Unity. It should be noted these two are regularly updated. The four that got the ax haven't seen any significant updates in 5+ years.
Now, this could simply be Capcom cleaning up the brand's web presence; relegating the franchise under a smaller umbrella. The disheartening bit about that though? Those four pages represented their individual series, some for over ten years. I fondly remember checking out ZX's page in the days leading up to the first game's release, rocking out to looping tunes. It's a little sad to see them go.
Anyway, I'm sure this is nothing to panic over. There is no evidence of anything "sinister" going on behind-the-scenes. We'll keep an ear out, of course. In the meantime the WayBack Machine exists. You're free to revisit these pages anytime.

Sad day.
ReplyDeleteMeh, just a cleanup. As far as I know, we didn't loose anything (but I'm not sure, what was /ryusei/?).
ReplyDeleteYou forget the most important one of the survivors xD http://www.capcom.co.jp/smartphone/rock-xover_jp/

DeleteI used to visit this page just for the music :(
Ryusei was Starforce.
DeleteIn some ways, I can see why. They were old pages that were likely not going to see another update. But in the same light, I don't really like the feel I get from this. Maybe it's just because I've grown too used to Capcom of Japan pulling the plug on a lot of Mega Man-related things. Even sadder still is that the Rockman portal doesn't seem to mention these other series, so the representation is literally just no longer there now. (Aside from X, but that's it.) Sad day indeed.
ReplyDelete- Dr. Jerk.
I see nothing wrong with it, probably they get very little traffic and they are not worth keeping alive, after all those series are dead or finished.
ReplyDeleteThis image, is it from RockBoard? I haven't seen it before.
ReplyDeleteSoccer
DeleteI see. Thanks. There're still Rockman games out there that are new to me :)
DeleteUsed to check the exe set every few months hoping against hope for a little update.
ReplyDeleteThis makes sense. I'm surprised it didn't happen years ago, actually.
Could even be a good thing! Maybe they're consolidating for a big centralized relaunch? ;O
Seems like a streamlining process more than anything. I'm sure Capcom doesn't want 432 different Mega Man pages so a little clean up is necessary. Back away from the ledge everyone. :p
ReplyDeleteOh crud, is there any assets that we hadn't pulled yet, like those HD battlechip images from the NT Warrior site?
ReplyDeleteway back ma sheeeen.
DeleteDo some searching on Mega Rock's blog. He's ripped everything: http://megarockblog.blogspot.com/
DeleteOh man this like the end of my childhood how sad to see something that was a huge part of my teen years go.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this means nothing or hell i would love if they actually did something with the zx series lke zx3 or a megaman game not some collection.
Great News. Super Adventure Rockman website is still alive!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, WHAT HAPPEN with the Rockman Perfect Memories website, I can't enter.
