'Mega Man Tribute' Hardcover Reprint Coming This Fall
If you missed out on Mega Man Tribute the first time around, here's some good news for you! Amazon US is listing a new reprint due November 26th. Best of all? It's a budget hardcover edition going for $59.99. Exorbitant prices begone!
What's more, it appears Megamix author/illustrator Hitoshi Ariga is producing new cover art. The piece is work-in-progress at the moment. Come Fall, though, it'll be all nice and pretty!
We'll have more details on this release soon!

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan..... I'm gonna try to stay positive, but I will express my dislike of Ariga, I'll look into buying (cause I never had the book) but I want to make it clear I am not supporting Ariga and his IMO annoying cliche Mega Man and art.
ReplyDeleteSENSEI WHERE ARE YOU, YOU and that BUM Ryuji Higurashi??? Get back to work guys, please...
They only did game art really, there's no work for them to get back to! At least Higurashi has TruForce designs to draw.
DeleteI just realized Keiji most likely won't be around to lend his artwork to the series. He's art was getting all crisp and clean too. He also hit the spot with that perfect simple look he's always going for.
DeleteWhy the Ariga hate? Is it just cuz Mega/Gigamix is popular and you want to be edgy? Between the Hitoshi Ariga hate, the Keiji Inafune hate, and the Ian Flynn hate, I have to wonder how the hell this fandom manages to still actually like Mega Man.
DeleteAnonymous # 3,
DeletePlease hush!
Wow someone seriously has no respect for the one guy who wants to keep Mega Man Thriving?
DeleteThat's what you hate?
Someone who does his best to keep involved in the Mega Man Community, especially in Japan?
Of course his art is gonna be everywhere and that's clearly the reason you hate it. But the man has so much respect for Mega Man and truly wants to see it shine again - just like the fans. His characterization of the Robot Masters in general gives people more of a fondness for ones that usually never make it to people's favorites list. Not even a top 20.
Your hate has 0 backing to it and is obviously just related to seeing him everywhere. That's literally all it is.
Are you guys talking to me the opening Anon? Are you seriously trying to guilt me into recanting my opinion on Ariga's art and designs that I've disliked since the beginning of time?
DeleteNice try, no dice. Why don't you all go to the comment below this string, agree with him instead of trying to convert me.
Also who hates Keiji? Show them to me on a Mega Man site (outside of that furry tiger dude). I know for sure I don't, I love Inafune's attitude, work ethic and accomplishments.
Would you care to give your rationale as to why you hate him?
DeleteI like the arts but for 59.99 ? NO THANKS! I do not mind the game but not the art book!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who regrettably missed out on the first book, I will be getting this. =)
ReplyDeleteI got the book the first time around and would highly recommend it. It's a great collection of a bunch of unique Mega Man pieces in tons of different styles. Probably one of my favorite art books out there.
ReplyDeleteWe're not trying to convert you or anything but your comments towards Ariga seemed totally random since you didn't give any context.
ReplyDeleteLike what does "cliche Mega Man" even mean?
I can get it if you just don't like his art style but I don't think cliché means what you think it means since Ariga was one the first major people to subvert the standard Mega Man character designs.
Being cliché would mean that he didn't make any drastic changes to the character's looks.
No, cliche in this context means generic anime art style that looks like many other anime art styles. Predominantly the Ken Sugimori inspired ones.
DeleteAlso Mega Man already has a unique and and well working art style, it doesn't need to change to look less "cliche".
Also I don't mind cliche in and of itself, if it is well done and an art style that is used is timeless I'm ok with it, it's just I personally really dislike his style, it looks..............I really can't make it more clear without going into a long subjective tangent, which I don't feel like doing so there you go.
I can understand you not liking Ariga's art,but there's a lot of unnecessary hate for him in your posts. Did he not sign something for you at a con? Not reply to your e-mails?
DeleteI'm not a huge fan of his art style, but I really appreciate him and his love for the Mega Man franchise.
Yeah about that, I can see how I was mistaken in terms of intent, when I say Ariga I mean his work, not like I specifically hate the man himself, in fact he's actually a nice guy from what I've seen.
DeleteIt is rare as heck for me to hate another human being, I think you're taking my comments too seriously and to the extreme.
Neat! I've got the other art books (barring Star Force, which I think I'll never own). This one I was really wanting, and I'm glad a new hardcover print is coming out. And I'm not going to lie, I love the cover as-is. Kinda hope Ariga doesn't get around to finishing the colors. :)
