The archived Mega Man Legacy Collection E3 stream is live. More gameplay, more commentary and more of your questions answered. I've placed it after the jump due to autoplay. Enjoy!
According to the stream, they played on at least four different television sets in order to decide on what they felt the most accurate color choices were relative to the NES palette and television displays, keeping in mind that NTSC sets and NES hardware is set up in such a way that there is no absolutely perfect emulated hue to go by beyond the simple color limitations of the NES palette.
Cut Man's stage is going to take some getting used to! Especially when X8's little Cut Man easter egg pretty blatantly goes for light green in the floor coloring (although the gray walls are much darker there). I find it interesting that the most contentious colors involve the color green - the human eye tends to notice imperfections in red coloration, if I recall correctly.
This aside, there really is no room for doubt on their level of dedication to trying to get the games to play just right! I can't wait to get my hands on the collection on PC.
Yeah... At the cost of dealing with unnecessary blurriness in the visuals, non-configurable buttons, and a weak emulation of the 2A03 sound chip. And, from what I've heard, button-input lag on the Wii U, and, from what I've actually seen, a darker, dimmer color palette. There's no question that Nintendo could provide a better emulator for their own systems.
I hate to ask, Protodude, but I'd there another way that I can see the video footage? My laptop won't work well online right now, and my tablet can't display it at all, due to it having an unsupported plugin. Thanks.
This collection looks really cheap the only thing going for it is it's challenge mode. Although I am glad that the complete works music made it in to the game but it is not available in gameplay which really stupid. This Frank Cifaldi guy is a prideful jerk and because of him and what he thinks putting effort is I won't be buying the collection. If this guy wouldn't praise himself as the "Head of restoration" while blocking people for asking him hard questions and defending himself with using other devs experiences to say he is a angel and not taking any criticism when it is needed I wouldn't dislike this collection so much. The same thing happened with Mighty no.9 people had horrible experiences with the fourm manager Diana being a dictator and then she left comcept while saying DON'T BUY MIGHTY NO.9 that left a bad taste in the mouth of fans. As for me I will be getting mighty no.9 but I am very displeased to know that people went through that even though all they wanted to do is give ideas and make mighty no.9 great game but Diana doesn't want it to be a great game she just wants to paint a victim picture over herself saying gamer gate is after her and mighty no.9 is a cheap game.
The difference between mighty no.9 and the megaman legacy collection is the fact that the creators of mighty no.9 want to put effort to make a great game for last gen and next gen while the devs of the megaman legacy collection want to focus on making the next gen exclusive (while skipping the wii u for no reason at all.) "perfect" emulation for only six games because "7-10 is too hard to do" with a challenge mode and then make like 2 to 3 collections IF the first one sells well and not giving the perfect complete megaman collection that we wanted for last gen and next gen.
Answering hard questions? He's a game developer. Not a politician. And if someone feels the need to interrogate people involved with MML then chances chances are that someone wasn't going to buy it anyways.
So the reason why he doesn't want this collection to come out on wii u is because he hates it. SCREW THIS GUY I am done with him he needs to get fired NOW! He is a hypocrite he does not want to take criticism for not giving us fans what we wanted and block fans for pointing fingers at him for his poor choices and then bash nintendo for making the metroid game he didn't want and then BASH THE WII U. No one can defend this guy he is a terrible dev and cannot be defended by anyone.
Honestly he is going to steer megaman in the wrong direction if he continues to make megaman stuff. He takes his personal opinions for the reasons why things like the collection is NOT coming to wii u. Someone needs to make a youtube video about this guy the word must spread because this type of acting is unacceptable I can get multiple post of this guy on his twitter and other sources being a jerk and a hypocrite and give it to someone willing to make a youtube video about him. This must not go unheard of because if it does it won't be good for megaman and for wii u fans too.I wanted to give this guy a chance but he doesn't deserve it anymore.I hope someone links him to this post because I would like to hear his reply to what I am saying.
I think you've completely misread what he said about the Wii U. His post was clearly meant to be SARCASTIC, and what he's mocking is actually the Bayonetta fans complaining that B2 is on the Wii U. He did not outright say he hated it, he was just responding to the butthurt fans.
I don't like that guy either, but at least read his post better before you start raging and foaming at the mouth. - Dr. Jerk.
I'm pretty certain the above posts are sarcastic ones making fun of overzealous gamers complaining about 'why is Bayonetta 2 only on Wii U' or 'WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS WITH THE METROID NAME.'
I don't see any legitimate "hate: towards the Wii U at all.
At risk of starting a firestorm here - of which I apologize to Protodude over - relax. It sounds more like you're trying to start a fight over nothing for the sake of just creating a scene, looking from the outside in.
Well if his comment was sarcastic then fine it's just fact that some of his decisions aren't the best and because of that I am very skeptical about this guy.
When he says stuff like this https://twitter.com/frankcifaldi/status/608106572623921152 "because I'd rather spend time on extras than on making more games work" That is why I am skeptical about the stuff he says so when he said something that sounded like distaste for the wii u I thought he was bashing it because it got bayonetta 2. And every time people asked about the wii u getting the collection no one got a straight answer so I thought he didn't want to say that he hated the wii u so people wouldn't get upset. Now yes I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions but I am very skeptical about the whole situation right now.
The thing about the Wii U is that it is structured differently from the other big name consoles. That is why on Kickstarter you see games asking for very high donations for a Wii U port, because it requires much more resources and is not as simple to port over.
I mean, I'm not defending the fact that it is likely not getting a Wii U port, I'm just saying what is likely the cause of it not getting one. Though then again, the 3DS is also very different from the other consoles as well and is still getting a port. They definitely should clarify this better, there's really no reason for them to stay quiet about this. - Dr. Jerk.
I can see where you are coming from but the wii u can play nes games without needing extra support. Not only that but it is coming to 3ds which has less power then the wii u so power is not the issue.
I mean that the Wii U has, if I'm remembering correctly, a different processor than the PS4 and XboxOne. That's why it's harder to port games over to it, because it requires more effort to do so. Yes it's just NES games, but they developed an entire engine to support it. Not to mention, what of the Gamepad?
But again, the 3DS is also very different from the other two consoles and is still getting a port. Maybe they're not porting it over to the Wii U because it's not a popular console. Either way, I agree there is no reason for them to stay quiet about it, especially if it has a simple answer. - Dr. Jerk.
"no. This isn't "how you remember it" this is "how it was intended and unaltered" Pretty sure they didn't make the games in mind with how different TVs would display them.
I screwed up the link to Mega64's post I put the letter a twice at the end oops. Here is the corrected link https://twitter.com/Mega64/status/612046228994428928
Well it's certainly Mega Man.
ReplyDeleteThe challenge mode stuff that they showed was disappointing to me, but it will be cool to read the translated museum stuff.
Just waiting for a concrete release date so I know when I can buy it.
ReplyDeleteLOL. More proof that MM5 gets no love, its border is so bland and empty looking.
ReplyDelete- Dr. Jerk.
"I was part of a Mega scam"
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard at that part.

you get all those games on virtual console and you'll get your "100% emulation" instead of waiting for this collection.

Crash Man's weak to Crash Bomb?
ReplyDelete"Cut Blade"
Includes rapid fire, but no weapon swapping with shoulder buttons?
I don't want to be that guy, I'd just like this product to be at it's best.
I want that poster in the background.

Your sarcasm filter needs repairs.

His comments about the Wii U are clearly sarcastic. Calm yourself down and try to read context clues next time before jumping to conclusions.
