This is the Last Month to Play Rockman Xover
Twilight is almost upon Rockman Xover. After two long years the free-to-play RPG for iOS and Android is shutting down on March 31st.
For those who are still playing the game let this be your reminder. For everyone else, this is your last chance to check it out. If you'd like to give it a spin before its gone, Appleforce's guide has you covered. He lays out how to get the game, gameplay basics, menu translations, etc. Be aware that you can no longer purchase in-app proprietary currency. Refunds will be taken until Wednesday, September 30th.
And on that note I bid Xover adieu. Whether or not Capcom will follow-up with a successor remains to be seen... maybe it should stay that way.
Too bad this game is R.I.P. It was good
ReplyDeleteWOW ! Do you feel that ? All the anger I've summoned ? The fingers already smashing the keyboards to disagree with me ?
Unlike you mainstream people, I played the game and then formed my opinion, I watched it evolve. I watched it be a cheap and horrible game at first, and watched it turn into a fun Social RPG Card game with a lot of potential. The final version of XOver was what it should've been to begin wtih.
But hey, be cool, be funny, be mainstream and fit in the mass ! Go ahead and tell me how happy you about that a game you haven't even played is dying.
Hey, if you had fun playing the game, then it doesn't matter whether other people liked it or not. What matters is that you enjoyed it. Sometimes people hate the things I like, and for good reasons (confession: I actually liked Mega Man X7). It's best if you don't take it personally.
DeleteAnyone who had any problem with the game, no matter how legitimate, must have simply never played it. Otherwise how could they possibly have a negative opinion on it? Is that what you're trying to say?
DeleteSure there are people who criticize games without playing them, that happens with every game. Take a look at the discussions going on about the Order right now and you can see that. It's also important to note that people don't necessarily need to play every game to form an opinion on said games.
That's one reason why first impressions are important. As you yourself admitted, the game didn't start off in great form. That's even more important in the f2p ios market.
@Anon2 A lot of the time it's for no good reason, especially in cases of X7. Very few I know name legitimate problems with the game.
DeleteTo answer you're question Anon3, no, that is not what he is saying. He is saying that the knee jerk reaction to someone stating that they like the game for personal reasons is USUALLY that of dismissal and vitriol toward the very notion that the game could contain likeable qualities, without understanding the underlining constructs of the games objectives.
DeleteIn other words, most people look at the surface of the game, say it's crap, and when other people express they like the game they refer back to the surface of the game for reasons why those opinions are invalid.
Anyway it's a generalization formed in the context of his personal experiences. He is not implying every single person misjudges the game because they know very little about it. I hate when people take these things super technically.
Eh, as bad as this game looked and as much as I razzed it in the past, I think I will download it and give it a try. My expectations aren't high, but a part of me is a tad curious to see how it plays. Just a microscopic tad.
ReplyDeleteI was going to remark that two years isn't very long, but looking back, it does feel like awhile has passed since this app game was first revealed and released. Makes me feel so old now.
ReplyDeleteAs subpar as it was, I consider this the true end to the MM series. I really doubt Capcom is going to put out anything else other than merchandise and smaller app games, if even that. They could only be half-assed enough to put this game out, and I really don't think they'll bother with anything else. Xover in some way seemed like their last hope for the series. Unfortunate, but just going to have to accept it.

Or we can sign a petition saying that we want more MegaMan games instead of moaning all the time? There's still hope for MegaMan games. We need to let Capcom hear our voices. All this anger and hatred towards Capcom won't do us any good. We need to let go of our hatred of Capcom and make a petition saying we want more MegaMan games. And no, don't give me that Capcom doesn't care crap. Deep down, I know they cared about their fans, a friend of mine said that on Skype and the MegaMan fanbase got mad over nothing. The reason why Capcom canned Legends 3 is because they were on a tight budget, not out of cruelity and mocking the MegaMan fanbase. There is still hope for MegaMan, so it's too early to throw in the towel. I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I want our voice to be heard that we want Capcom to make more games, instead of yelling and insulting them.
DeleteThis game had a lot of potential, but they never exploited all the possibilities. I'm not gonna lie, this was a boring game, I expended less time thinking about card strategies and more time collecting items in a repetitive and tedious way. Also it highly relayed on gamer's addiction to play it. I was for a month worried about getting this armor or obtaining this card set, it had more in common with gambling or CandyCrush than with real casual games like Plants vs Zombies or Angry Birds (yeah, I consider those 'real games'). I'm not gonna miss this game, all the important things (the art and the music and some gameplay scenes) are properly documented.
ReplyDeleteI hope Xover One have an opportunity in a future manga (with proper storytelling) or fan game.
Did the game even have a proper resolution to it's 'plot'? I mean, I'm all for flimsy plots for an excuse to do something, but I do also prefer to have a resolution to it as well.
ReplyDeleteNope, just a final battle against some bosses in a tower because of reasons.
DeleteMy version:
DeleteAfter fixing the many time paradoxes caused by the villains, the universes returned to normal and the xover universe ceased to exist, thus it never happened. Only 1 remembers those events, Over-1, and with his battle over, he can now rest in an island from the Legends series, admiring the moon.
xover drama 2k12 never forget
ReplyDeleteI could let this pass if it didn't have the name 'Rockman' on it
ReplyDeleteThis game is so bad, it plays ultra sluggish on an android emulator for pc.
ReplyDeleteNever had a chance to play it (and looks like I never will), so dunno if it is any good. But I'm curious... if I played, all the Battle Memory, armors and stuff gathered would be deleted? Or is it saved in the mobile, meaning one can keep a save backup? (Which would be pointless without the game anyway) And there is no way to play it offline? Either way, I guess it's a good thing I never even started. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd nothing of value was lost.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know this was a thing! Anybody have an archive?
