Rockman Go Go Revealed - New Mobile Game for Android, South Korea

Only a few days into 2015 and we already have ourselves a new Mega Man game. Sort of.

Rockman Go Go is an officially-licensed title developed for Android by South Korean studio Jenoi. It's available now from the Korean Android Market. Hit the jump below for gameplay.

Be on the lookout for lots of recycled Powered Up assets:

More footage here.

According to Sports Chosun, Rockman Go Go is the result of a collaboration between Jenoi and Capcom. Jenoi was in the process of porting Capcom's iOS titles to Android when Capcom asked them to develop a Mega Man game for for Korean audiences. Lo and behold, it's Rockman Go Go.

No word on an international release at the moment. If you have the means to do so, you can download it here. Alternatively, there's Naver.

  1. Taking full advantage of all that free promotion the franchise got from Smash I see.

  2. Ugh... Disappointed isn't the word, strange how this has happened & yet we've not had a port of Mega Man Powered Up on PSN etc. C'mon Capcom give us a proper console/downloadable title, it can't be THAT hard to do + with the current Smash promotion now is the time to capitalise on it, the Amiibo figure is due next month too.. it'd be great to have a new Mega Man title to use it with!

  3. No thanks. Take this concept, put it on 3DS with real controls and deeper gameplay and then we'll talk.

This isn't Xover or iOS-MMX, meaning it looks as though they spent more than a bag of peanuts on development. This has true effort put into the presentation and visuals, so there's that. Just. Put it. On. Consoles. There's no reason whatsoever not to have this on 3DS and Vita. The 3DS' 3D depth could help this sort out game out immensely, as a matter of fact.

So I'm not a fan of this move, but it's a step in the right direction. Let's hope it gets released to other phones and elsewhere, and then to consoles, and then real Mega Man games get made.

    1. Actually I'm not sure if you can say that about the presentation and visuals. This game is made almost completely of re-used assets from the Powered Up game. That game had true effort put into it. This game is just using that stuff again.

Though to its credit, it looks like the characters all play a little differently. As far as I know, that already gives it a bit more depth than a number of other ios games. Which isn't to say the game looks good, or even decent, but it's something.

  4. Not to be negative, but that looks kinda boring. I watched a fight with Fireman and it's just so repetitive.

  5. Is Rockman really that important to Korea compared to the rest of the world, that Capcom would try to create exclusives for them, specifically working on relationships with Korean game developers to make Mega Man games? I would think the U.S or Japan would be Capcom's top priority as they are easily the biggest sources of sales for the series.

    1. I think Korea's gaming market is much more PC and mobile-centric, compared to the much more console-friendly Japan. That may have played a part in their decision to collaborate with a Korean developer this time around

  6. Another run game? Really?

  7. I think it looks like it could be pretty fun, actually. A game like this shouldn't be on consoles though. It seems specifically designed for Smartphones, so if it did have a chance on a console, I would have to say the Vita.

Though whether it's good or not doesn't really matter if most of the world can't enjoy it as well. These games need to ultimately be released to all the major markets. I mean, hell, does Capcom not want money? I've been wanting them to package all their previous Rockman mobile games into one app for years. MegaMan Mobile Midway or some such name. 99 cents, done. It would sell like funnel cakes at a concession in an actual midway.

This game does look interesting though. Here's hoping it gets released elsewhere, or I guess I'll have to locate the apk.

  8. I guess the Jungle Run type gameplay really suits touch devices which are so limited in precise controls, but man, why does it feels like that's the default format these days to just take a brand and wrap around it?

  9. It looks a lot better than Xover, that's for sure.

  10. Oh yes. Loads of recycled materials from the PSP game... Not that that's a completely bad thing, of course.

  11. Let's go ahead and criticize another Megaman mobile game so that it can get taken down and Megaman can fall even farther into obscurity.

I mean yeah it sucks it's a mobile game but at least it's something at this point. Capcom needs to release games like this so that they'll get funding for other games. For example, the only reason SFV happened was because of Sony helped back the game; Capcom needs to make money any way they can.

    1. Then you know where they should be going for Megaman games instead of Mobile? Nintendo.

The diehards are there already. They bought the 3DS for Legends 3 and they bought it and/or the WiiU for Megaman in smash. There is a consistent stream of rereleases on both consoles. They(Nintendo) are clearly willing to fund potentially risky games like Bayonetta 2. Every single iteration except for Xover has at least the first entry on a Nintendo console and are usually mostly or totally exclusive to Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo is clearly the right place to go to, Capcom just has it's head way too far up its end to realize this.

    2. im not going to lap up Capcom's shit just because "at least it's something"

No, it isn't. they couldnt even be bothered to make it themselves. And it only happened because another company was already in the process of working on a megaman phone game.

I want a quality product. Im not going to tell them "this is ok. you can keep making these!" im not going to even acknowledge it, and wait for a real Megaman game.

  13. Is like Capcom WANTS me to play Mighty No.9 instead!!!

  14. I actually have this. It's basically a temple run with a gun. It's not bad as a cell phone game, but it has massive potential as a platformer. You could basically have this game play like a hybrid super paper mario with segments going into 2d like in Sonic Colors. It could be an amazing game.

    If only, Capcom. If only.

    1. They released the apk file but I got it from the play store by using a vpn to essentially make them think my phone was in south Korea

  15. It has potential. The sound effects are pretty annoying though. I couldn't sit through the video of Time Man going "YA! YA! YA! YA! YA! YA!" every time he shot.

  16. they cancelled mega man online for a game that uses almost everything from powered up except plays like shit.

  17. Hm, I kind of feel like this would have worked better as a Starforce game.
The boss battles are kind of reminiscent of that.
