TruForce Collectibles Shows Off Colored Mega Man X

It's been a little while since we last checked in with TruForce and their amazing concept Mega Man X figure. A recent Facebook post, however, remedies the wait with our first look at a colored prototype.

"Here's a late Christmas present for you," says TruForce. "An excellent look at what the proposed final figure will look like. We're quite pleased with the color template! Are you?"

For comparison, here's the initial concept by Capcom artist Keisuke Mizuno. What do you think? Drop TruForce a line at their Facebook or in our comments below. Feedback is very much appreciated - remember, this figure exists because of you!

Game Boy Mega Man III Prototypes Hit eBay

Thanks to a tip from our friend RockX, we have word that there are currently a pair of auctions on eBay for two Game Boy Mega Man III prototypes. Before you get too excited, we're pretty confident these hold little difference from the final game we're familiar with. Even so, it's not every day we see something like this on the auction block.

The first prototype is noteworthy in that it displays "SAMPLE" text on the title screen. You can see it in action here. My guess is this is a retail or trade show demo. The second prototype is clearly labeled as "Mega Man III (Final)." This one is most likely the final version, lacking the "SAMPLE" designation.

If you're interested in adding one or two unique Mega Man items to your collection, check these guys out in the links above. Bring Zenny.

Thanks, RockX!

First 4 Figures Teases Next Mega Man Figure

First 4 Figures looks to be developing another Mega Man statue. You'd have to be living under a rock* for the past 20-something years to not recognize those legs. Expect the full reveal soon!

Rockman Zero 2 Dated for Japanese Virtual Console

Coming Wednesday, January 7th, Japan will get Rockman Zero 2 on the Wii U's Virtual Console service for 702 Yen. The good word comes directly from Nintendo Japan.

The original Mega Man Zero launched in North America recently, so hopefully the sequel isn't too far off. Unfortunately we're still waiting on Battle Network 2 and Battle Network 3 (Blue and White) too. We'll continue to keep an ear to the ground!

Dr. Wily Opening a Food Stand in Mobile Game 'Zombie Cafe'

Managing your very own restaurant is challenging in itself, but with all these new Mega Man games coming out one wonders how Dr. Wily will find the time. He's going to try to make it work, though, with the grand opening of his own personal food stand in mobile game Zombie Cafe.

Wily's food stand will be open for business December 26th as part of a special event. Details are scant at the moment but the promotional image above suggests other characters could appear in some capacity. This event has only been announced for the Japanese version despite the game's worldwide availability. I'll update this post should I hear otherwise.

That's pretty much all there is to say on this one, really. Bit of a random crossover, don't you think?

Thanks to Heat Man for the tip!

Iris Garage Kit Becomes Whole, Looks Great

It's a real shame Iris isn't getting the figure treatment the character deserves. We tried, but those plans didn't pan out. In lieu of the real thing, though, studio Madhands has whipped up one excellent gargae kit.

We first saw this kit several months ago; today, it's assembled, colored and ready to be sold at Hobby Rock. When built, Iris stands at roughly the same height as D-Arts Mega Man X and Zero. Her attire is based on her appearance in Mega Man Xtreme 2. In a word, snazzy.

You can check out more images here. We'll be looking at more Hobby Rock figures when the festival kicks off in February, 2015.

Coming in May, 2015, Archie Comics will be releasing a Free Comic Book Day prelude to Sonic and Mega Man: Worlds Unite. As per tradition, it's a flip book combining content from both the Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog series, acting as a primer for impending crossover event. Here's the solicitation:

Just in time for the start of the ALL-NEW epic Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man crossover event, "Worlds Unite," comes a primer issue exclusively for Free Comic Book Day! The road to "Unite" began in the history-making "Worlds Collide" storyline, continued in 2013's "DAWN OF X" storyline, and once again our heroes must meet-Mega Man's journey chronicled on one side, and Sonic the Hedgehog's on the other! This is the must-have primer for the biggest comic book event of 2015-as two video game icons must come together... or risk dying alone! Featuring art from both Sonic and Mega Man comic book fame!

13-Inch Mega Man Figure - Now in Color!

Well that didn't take too long! Rockman Unity is showing off images of the colored 13-inch Mega Man figure from X-Plus Toys. Magnificent, isn't? But wait! There's more...

Happy 27th Anniversary, Rockman!

It's December 17th in Japan, and today marks the 27th anniversary of Rockman. Sadly, there really isn't much going other than a bevy of classic titles hitting the Japanese PSN and Wii U. Hopefully we'll be seeing some of that on our end. Mega Man Zero might be up on the North American eShop this week but other than that, we're probably in for a quiet one.

I wanted to keep this post light and breezy, so I'll just say that despite the lack of new games and such, I'm thankful for Mega Man's appearance in Smash. It's been great to see this icon thrive among Nintendo's best, and I hope it will pave the way to a brighter future. Nintendo did a damn fine job here and I know I'm not alone when I say, "I want more."

I leave you with the above celebratory piece from Rockman Megamix author/illustrator Hitoshi Ariga. For comparison, here's Capcom's.

Peace out, home-fries.

Archie's Mega Man X is Crossing Over With Sonic Boom

Well here we are: another Worlds Unite teaser. It's not just classic Mega Man this time -- look, there's X! And, and... oh dear. Sonic Boom's Sticks the Badger.

So yeah, further confirmation Worlds Unite is a four-way-crossover with classic, X, Archie's traditional Sonic series and Sonic Boom. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out, for better or worse.

See the full teaser image at IGN UK. Sonic and Mega Man: Worlds Unite story arc kicks off Spring 2015.

Giant 13-Inch Mega Man Figure Due in March

By way of Rockman Unity, X-Plus Toys will be launching a giant classic Mega Man in March, 2015. It's 13-inches!

You can see more images at this post. Even in the early stages it looks promising. The build appears to a lot better than the 25th anniversary statue. It's made of soft plastic, except for the Buster power strip and helmet "ears" (those are transparent plastic). The whole kit and kit and kaboodle will cost 8,424 Yen, which is about $71.00 USD.

More updates as they come.

The Mega Buster Replica is Now Available to Own

First announced in June, ThinkGeek's officially licensed Mega Buster replica is now on sale. That's right, you can have your very own ambidextrous (non solar-powered) arm cannon for a cool $79.99.

What do you get for your money? Well, it fits on your right or left hand, with light and sound effects straight from the classic series. Quickly pull on the trigger for a single fire sound; hold it down for a charged shot and watch the power meter fill!

Those interested can pick one up from ThinkGeek while supplies last. As an FYI, this is on my holiday wish list. Hint hint.

Tron Bonne, Rockman 8 and More Coming to JPN PSN

Just in time for the franchise's 27th anniversary, Capcom Japan is rolling out not one but five PlayStation Rockman classics on PlayStation Network. Rockman 8, Rockman Battle & Chase, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Rockman X4 and Rockman X5 are all due on December 17th. You read that right. Tron Bonne on PSN. Hallelujah.

Here in the U.S we have X4 and X5. It'd be great to see Tron Bonne, Mega Man 8 and even Battle & Chase on PSN. Pending official word from Capcom, though, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

The good news is you can buy these titles even if you don't live in Japan. Simply create a Japanese PSN account and secure some Yen via a Japanese PlayStation Network Card. You can get these from sites like Play Asia. Most will email you the code quickly and directly so you won't even need to wait for the mailman.

We'll keep an ear to the ground. Hope to hear more soon!

Mega Man 2 OST Remade With the VRC6 Chip

Atlantan-based chiptune artist RushJet1 has completely remade Mega Man 2's soundtrack with the power of the VRC6, Konami's super slick NES sound chip. With three additional channels, the chip brings out some seriously rich audio. For example, this is the original Heat Man theme, while this is the VRC6 remake.

The above video is a complete gameplay run of Mega Man 2 using the new soundtrack, but you can listen to or purchase it from Bandcamp as well. If you love Mega Man or chiptune music, it's worth checking out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Smash Bros. - Mega Man is "The Blue Bomber" in Europe (Updated)

The North American version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U erroneously refers to Mega Man as the "Blue Metal Hero" in the Punch-Out boxing ring stage. The title was thought to be an obscure reference to Metal Heroes, the subtitle for Mega Man 8's Japanese release. And now, with the launch of Smash in Europe, the jumbotron displays something a bit more recognizable: The Blue Bomber.

I'd wager we'll see the title amended in North America sometime soon -- this seems like something that could easily be patched. UPDATE: Or not. Apparently, this is but one of many intentional translation differences between the North American and European versions. Smash was seemingly localized by two independent teams, as demonstrated by trophy descriptions. "Blue Metal Hero" is probably here to stay.

Thanks to Liam Ashcroft for the tip, kuroneko0509 for the image.

Ikehara's Rockman Manga Reprint is a Massive Tome

Re:BomBom has the first look at Shigeto Ikehara's Rockman 1&2 manga compilation. As you've no doubt surmised, it's huge. The reprint will chronicle Ikehara's adaptations of the first two Rockman games, which originally ran in Comic Bom Bom from 1992 to 1994.

The book will release on December 22nd for 1,598 Yen (roughly $14.66 US). Here's hoping this will be a future prospect for UDON to grab!

Rockman Utopia Track List Detailed

Adding to our previous report, Gamer has gotten their hands on the complete track list for Rockman Utopia, the first of two new Rockman albums due in early 2015. No samples yet, but we now have a much better idea of what to expect... and it's more diverse than previously thought!

Gunvolt News Roundup: DLC Release, 3DS Themes, Thanksgiving Wallpaper

Inti Creates is kicking off Thanksgiving with a nice helping of Gunvolt news. First and foremost, here's a brand new trailer for Mighty Gunvolt version 2.0.0. Version 2.0.0 and the DLC will release alongside Mighty Gunvolt as a stand-alone game on Friday, November 28th. It will run you $3.99.

But that's not all...

Mega Man X Plushie is Going to be a Thing

Capcom is once again teaming up with the purveyor of Mega Man paraphernalia in the West, Great Eastern Entertainment, and the result is a Mega Man X Plush. Though price and release date remain to be determined, sources suggest a late winter/early spring release window. Size-wise, we're looking at 7-inches (roughly in line with GE's previous Mega Man plush outings).

Fun fact: this is first officially licensed X plush. 22 years and no soft version of the great Maverick Hunter has ever been produced. Good on GE for achieving this milestone!

I wonder which character is next? This one shouldn't be too hard to imagine...

Kid Robot Mega Man Figures Delayed, Minis Cancelled

What happened to Kid Robot's Mega Man figures that were supposed to be available in September? According to a customer service representative, the 7-inch Mega Man and Proto Man figures have been pushed back into mid 2015. The pair remain up for pre-order on Big Bad Toystore.

As for the mini figures - the blind box series and keychains - it appears they've been given the ax. BC Direct points us to a message from figure vendor MyPlasticHeart, confirming the cancellation of both miniature lines. This was posted back in July but the statement still stands. For the uninitiated, Kid Robot has been struggling financially; whole lines are being cut, this way and that.

On the upside, someone posted a nice teaser image of a previously unannounced 7-inch Break Man figure. No word if it will ever see the light of day, but the prospect exists. When was the last time Break Man had a figure?

Thanks to BC Direct for the tip!

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Now Available in North America

The wait is over. Super Smash Bros for Wii U is now available in North America. You can download the game right now from the eShop or, if you're into physical copies, head to a local midnight retail launch.

Why are we covering this? For the uninitiated, Mega Man is a playable character - from the get-go, no less! He comes with his own unique stage, Wily Castle, a batch of trophies, and some nice musical selections. There's a Mega Man Amiibo in the works, too!

That's pretty much all there is to say, really. So yeah; have fun! I'll see you online!

Mighty Gunvolt DLC Revealed; Four New Stages

Inti Creates has dated the first round of Mighty Gunvolt DLC, Gamer reports. The Mighty No. 9 x Gunvolt x Gal Gun crossover is expected to receive four new stages on November 26th. It is currently only scheduled for Japan, priced at 300 yen. UPDATE: North America gets it on Nov. 28th, $3.99.

New bosses will coincide with the additional stages, including Pyrogen (Mighty No. 1) and Brandish (Mighty No. 7). Elise from Gunvolt and Mr. Happiness from Gal Gun will make an appearance, too. What's more, the DLC will provide an easier to navigate stage select screen. I don't recall the current format being too troublesome... but there ya go.

Loot Crate's Mega Man Exclusive Is... a Mini Helmet!

Looks like the November "battle" Loot Crate is arriving on doorsteps a couple days in advance. Inside the box, you'll find a nifty miniature Mega Man helmet replica -- it's a smaller version of the one Capcom offered at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer.

According to early unboxing videos, the color of the helmet varies. You'll receive one of four colors (classic blue, red, grey or green) and additional standee. The crate also includes a Mega Man vs. Ryu pin and a bunch of cardboard Mega Man/Ryu standees to create your own one-on-one brawl.

See it in action after the jump!

Rockman Xover: No Plans to Distribute OVER-0 Before End of Service

As previously reported, Rockman Xover will cease operations on March 31st, 2015. There's still some time to play the game but don't expect any new content from here on out. According to a tip from Rockman Corner contributor Django, Capcom has no plans to resume events or additional content for the game. This will leave one previously announced form, OVER-0, unreleased.

To fill the gap before the game is officially taken offline, monthly rewards can still be redeemed. You can see a list of those right here. No more Battle Memory Cards, it seems; it's mostly Zenny, Gacha Tickets and E cans.

Other than that, Xover is pretty much dead. It's too bad they didn't get around to a Rockman DASH world, you know?

Thanks, Django.

Auction - Mega Man Volnutt Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Genga Cels

Animation model sheets and cels are sot of a middle ground product, common on a number of auctions sites. However, it isn't everyday we see something like this: original Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: genga cels. These are genuine materials from Mega Man Volnutt's TvC ending custcene, seen here.

The auction can be found here and for the sheets themselves, you can check out some of them from after the jump. Don't let the price spook you too bad -- the seller is willing to work out a deal. Nintendo Reveals Mega Man Amiibo Figure

I think many of us were waiting for this nugget of news. As seen on Nintendo Japan's new Amiibo website, a Mega Man Amiibo figure is on the way. The Blue Bomber is planning to launch alongside the third Amiibo wave in February, 2015. It's priced at 1,200 Yen (roughly $10.45).

No word on whether this will come to the U.S or Europe within the same time frame. I'd say it's likely but it's safe to wait for official confirmation. Sooner than later, one can hope. UPDATE: February it is.

Loot Crate's Take on Mega Man is a Gritty Romp

The teaser for the November Loot Crate is upon us and it's straight up ridiculous. It's a dark and goofy blend of Mega Man and Die Hard. Things take an interesting turn when another Capcom star shows up to procure Mega Man, now a vigilante. The deliberate grit, needless to say, is all in good fun.

As previously discussed, some form of Mega Man loot will be included in the "Battle" themed package. We won't know what it is until this month's Loot Crate arrives on doorsteps in a few weeks. If you're interested in signing up for the box, head over here. Punch in the code "BATTLE" to shave $3 off your subscription.

Regardless of what the item is or isn't, we'll keep you posted. Stay tuned!

New Mega Man Remixes Confirmed for Smash Bros. Wii U

As with previous entires in the series, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U features a bevy of original and re-arranged tracks from various franchises. Now that early copies are being sent out for review, we can confirm 323 tracks will be available to players from the get-go, with at least a hundred more to be unlocked.

Of those readily available, there's four Mega Man pieces not heard on the 3DS. These include , "Cut Man Stage Remix", "Quick Man Remix", "Shadow Man Remix" and "Mega Man (1) Retro Medley." If you don't mind spoilers, check out the playlist above.

Yeah, we're still in classic series territory. But who knows; more Mega Man tunes may await us yet.

Rockman Capsule Figures Are Coming - Classic, X, DASH and EXE

The toys, the toys, the toys. They just keep coming! This time Bandai is bringing out a series of Rockman capsule figures slated to drop in February. Known figures include classic Rockman, X, Rock Volnutt, Rockman.EXE, and the Yellow Devil. These are just prototypes right now - colors will be added later.

Big Bad Toystore has them up for pre-order; random singles for $3.99 or a box of 40 for $119.99. These are trading figures, mind you, which means when you buy one you don't know which character you're getting. So as always, buyer beware.

Rockman Xover's Soundtrack Was Pretty Great - Let's Listen

For better or worse, Rockman Xover is coming to an end. We can debate the quality of the game until our keyboards are tired and battered; cheer in its demise or sullenly sit as another game bites the dust. But I think both sides of the fray can settle on one thing: Xover's soundtrack was top-notch. I would argue Masahiro Aoki's arrangements were some of the best we've had in years.

For your listening pleasure, here's the entire soundtrack courtesy of MidniteW. All twenty of Aoki's tracks are here - some ripped straight from the game, others collected from the Capcom Special Selection CD. If you haven't played Xover, let alone glanced at it, you owe it to yourself to check these it out.

Thanks, MidniteW!

Mega Man Exclusive Coming to Loot Crate This Month

Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of all things video games, comics and popular culture. There's a plethora of goodies inside, a new selection each month. According the Loot Crate Twitter, the November box will include an exclusive Mega Man item. It could be anything. A figure, DVD, t-shirt -- anything. You won't be able to find it anywhere else.

Exclusives aren't typically revealed until the box arrives on doorsteps (the 20th of each month). The only real clue we have to go by is this month's theme, "battle." The image promoting the new crate is Mega Man preparing to face off against Ryu.

Case in point: Quick Man.
