TruForce Collectibles Shows Off Colored Mega Man X
It's been a little while since we last checked in with TruForce and their amazing concept Mega Man X figure. A recent Facebook post, however, remedies the wait with our first look at a colored prototype.
"Here's a late Christmas present for you," says TruForce. "An excellent look at what the proposed final figure will look like. We're quite pleased with the color template! Are you?"
For comparison, here's the initial concept by Capcom artist Keisuke Mizuno. What do you think? Drop TruForce a line at their Facebook or in our comments below. Feedback is very much appreciated - remember, this figure exists because of you!

Game Boy Mega Man III Prototypes Hit eBay
Thanks to a tip from our friend RockX, we have word that there are currently a pair of auctions on eBay for two Game Boy Mega Man III prototypes. Before you get too excited, we're pretty confident these hold little difference from the final game we're familiar with. Even so, it's not every day we see something like this on the auction block.
The first prototype is noteworthy in that it displays "SAMPLE" text on the title screen. You can see it in action here. My guess is this is a retail or trade show demo. The second prototype is clearly labeled as "Mega Man III (Final)." This one is most likely the final version, lacking the "SAMPLE" designation.
If you're interested in adding one or two unique Mega Man items to your collection, check these guys out in the links above. Bring Zenny.
Thanks, RockX!

First 4 Figures Teases Next Mega Man Figure
First 4 Figures looks to be developing another Mega Man statue. You'd have to be living under a rock* for the past 20-something years to not recognize those legs. Expect the full reveal soon!

Rockman Zero 2 Dated for Japanese Virtual Console
Coming Wednesday, January 7th, Japan will get Rockman Zero 2 on the Wii U's Virtual Console service for 702 Yen. The good word comes directly from Nintendo Japan.
The original Mega Man Zero launched in North America recently, so hopefully the sequel isn't too far off. Unfortunately we're still waiting on Battle Network 2 and Battle Network 3 (Blue and White) too. We'll continue to keep an ear to the ground!

Dr. Wily Opening a Food Stand in Mobile Game 'Zombie Cafe'
Managing your very own restaurant is challenging in itself, but with all these new Mega Man games coming out one wonders how Dr. Wily will find the time. He's going to try to make it work, though, with the grand opening of his own personal food stand in mobile game Zombie Cafe.
Wily's food stand will be open for business December 26th as part of a special event. Details are scant at the moment but the promotional image above suggests other characters could appear in some capacity. This event has only been announced for the Japanese version despite the game's worldwide availability. I'll update this post should I hear otherwise.
That's pretty much all there is to say on this one, really. Bit of a random crossover, don't you think?
Thanks to Heat Man for the tip!

Iris Garage Kit Becomes Whole, Looks Great
It's a real shame Iris isn't getting the figure treatment the character deserves. We tried, but those plans didn't pan out. In lieu of the real thing, though, studio Madhands has whipped up one excellent gargae kit.
We first saw this kit several months ago; today, it's assembled, colored and ready to be sold at Hobby Rock. When built, Iris stands at roughly the same height as D-Arts Mega Man X and Zero. Her attire is based on her appearance in Mega Man Xtreme 2. In a word, snazzy.
You can check out more images here. We'll be looking at more Hobby Rock figures when the festival kicks off in February, 2015.

Worlds Unite Prelude Set for Free Comic Book Day Edition
Coming in May, 2015, Archie Comics will be releasing a Free Comic Book Day prelude to Sonic and Mega Man: Worlds Unite. As per tradition, it's a flip book combining content from both the Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog series, acting as a primer for impending crossover event. Here's the solicitation:
"Worlds Unite: PRELUDE" - It's TWO free comic books in ONE! Just in time for the start of the ALL-NEW epic Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man crossover event, "Worlds Unite," comes a primer issue exclusively for Free Comic Book Day! The road to "Unite" began in the history-making "Worlds Collide" storyline, continued in 2013's "DAWN OF X" storyline, and once again our heroes must meet-Mega Man's journey chronicled on one side, and Sonic the Hedgehog's on the other! This is the must-have primer for the biggest comic book event of 2015-as two video game icons must come together... or risk dying alone! Featuring art from both Sonic and Mega Man comic book fame!

13-Inch Mega Man Figure - Now in Color!
Well that didn't take too long! Rockman Unity is showing off images of the colored 13-inch Mega Man figure from X-Plus Toys. Magnificent, isn't? But wait! There's more...
Happy 27th Anniversary, Rockman!
It's December 17th in Japan, and today marks the 27th anniversary of Rockman. Sadly, there really isn't much going other than a bevy of classic titles hitting the Japanese PSN and Wii U. Hopefully we'll be seeing some of that on our end. Mega Man Zero might be up on the North American eShop this week but other than that, we're probably in for a quiet one.
I wanted to keep this post light and breezy, so I'll just say that despite the lack of new games and such, I'm thankful for Mega Man's appearance in Smash. It's been great to see this icon thrive among Nintendo's best, and I hope it will pave the way to a brighter future. Nintendo did a damn fine job here and I know I'm not alone when I say, "I want more."
I leave you with the above celebratory piece from Rockman Megamix author/illustrator Hitoshi Ariga. For comparison, here's Capcom's.
Peace out, home-fries.

Archie's Mega Man X is Crossing Over With Sonic Boom
Well here we are: another Worlds Unite teaser. It's not just classic Mega Man this time -- look, there's X! And, and... oh dear. Sonic Boom's Sticks the Badger.
So yeah, further confirmation Worlds Unite is a four-way-crossover with classic, X, Archie's traditional Sonic series and Sonic Boom. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out, for better or worse.
See the full teaser image at IGN UK. Sonic and Mega Man: Worlds Unite story arc kicks off Spring 2015.

Giant 13-Inch Mega Man Figure Due in March
By way of Rockman Unity, X-Plus Toys will be launching a giant classic Mega Man in March, 2015. It's 13-inches!
You can see more images at this post. Even in the early stages it looks promising. The build appears to a lot better than the 25th anniversary statue. It's made of soft plastic, except for the Buster power strip and helmet "ears" (those are transparent plastic). The whole kit and kit and kaboodle will cost 8,424 Yen, which is about $71.00 USD.
More updates as they come.

We've seen a lot of random Mega Man paraphernalia over the years... but some of these, man, I don't even know. We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

The Mega Buster Replica is Now Available to Own
First announced in June, ThinkGeek's officially licensed Mega Buster replica is now on sale. That's right, you can have your very own ambidextrous (non solar-powered) arm cannon for a cool $79.99.
What do you get for your money? Well, it fits on your right or left hand, with light and sound effects straight from the classic series. Quickly pull on the trigger for a single fire sound; hold it down for a charged shot and watch the power meter fill!
Those interested can pick one up from ThinkGeek while supplies last. As an FYI, this is on my holiday wish list. Hint hint.

Tron Bonne, Rockman 8 and More Coming to JPN PSN
Just in time for the franchise's 27th anniversary, Capcom Japan is rolling out not one but five PlayStation Rockman classics on PlayStation Network. Rockman 8, Rockman Battle & Chase, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Rockman X4 and Rockman X5 are all due on December 17th. You read that right. Tron Bonne on PSN. Hallelujah.
Here in the U.S we have X4 and X5. It'd be great to see Tron Bonne, Mega Man 8 and even Battle & Chase on PSN. Pending official word from Capcom, though, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
The good news is you can buy these titles even if you don't live in Japan. Simply create a Japanese PSN account and secure some Yen via a Japanese PlayStation Network Card. You can get these from sites like Play Asia. Most will email you the code quickly and directly so you won't even need to wait for the mailman.
We'll keep an ear to the ground. Hope to hear more soon!

Mega Man 2 OST Remade With the VRC6 Chip
Atlantan-based chiptune artist RushJet1 has completely remade Mega Man 2's soundtrack with the power of the VRC6, Konami's super slick NES sound chip. With three additional channels, the chip brings out some seriously rich audio. For example, this is the original Heat Man theme, while this is the VRC6 remake.
The above video is a complete gameplay run of Mega Man 2 using the new soundtrack, but you can listen to or purchase it from Bandcamp as well. If you love Mega Man or chiptune music, it's worth checking out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks to Tony Ponce for the tip!
