Triple dose of Mighty No. 9 news today. First off, the third beta stage is now available to backers. PR calls this one -- Mighty No. 3's power plant -- the "toughest stage yet." The key to success, though, is your ability to down dash. Do it correctly and things should be a breeze!
Second, Comcept has uploaded a teaser trailer for "potential bonus DLC." The near-minute long video introduces a new Mighty Number, Zero. From what little we see of him, Zero looks to be a twisted amalgamation of various parts. Check it out here.
Lastly, after calculating 20,000 votes, Comcept confirmed the game will be presented with English voice acting only. No Japanese audio this time around!
That color palette reminds me of Mega Man 7's last Wily stage!
ReplyDeleteIt's the Zero of that series, assuming the character stays in perspective, nothing else could really go wrong with that. As for the English, I think it's for the best. I think it's probably one of if not the most accepted language, and for sure more spoken throughout the world than Japanese. That said I hope more languages get added later down the line seeing as how the spoken dialog is necessary to gameplay, so not being able to utilize that function I'd think would make the player feel alienated.
ReplyDeletedamn! i really wanted JPN audio. oh well. i hope they cast good VAs.
ReplyDeletedonate and help it reach 200k if you want japanese language. that's the best you can do right now.
DeleteLOL, no. I already paid a mint during the first kickstarter and they already blew all that on candy and soda, apparently.
DeleteThe number 0 look like Bass wanna be. Not Zero. Look at his shatter fin on the left but his right fin is still there. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteHe's awfully red for a Forte wannabe.
DeleteAnything is possible. You never know that they might go with red for a Forte wanna be just for something different but I am not betting Zero at all. Zero is related to Rockman X series only. I think maybe Blue/Protoman wanna be. Wait and see.
DeleteI'm so relieved we are getting english voices first, most people seem to forget how good the VAs were in games like MHX, PU, X8 and Command Mission.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm very dissapointed in being a member of the MM fanbase, after all the crap some people are giving this game with no sense of logic whatsoever, I'm ashamed of a lot of the people in the fandom who donated to this project and are now trying to bring it down because of dumb reasons like a concept trailer or non-otaku voiceovers being the priority.
In my honest opinion Zero's voice sucked in all of those games you've listed that he was in. Other than that, aside from X being a little over dramatic. yeah the voices were good.
DeleteIronically the MMPU ENG voices sounded the most mature out of the entire Classic series, which is weird, because well they are so cutesy and small chibi versions of themselves. The actual dialog though, eh that's another story.
The only Zero voice actor I hated was the Wolverine-like one in X7, I even liked JYB voicing him in Marvel VS Capcom 3.
DeleteThat's funny cause that's the only ENG voice (not acting) I found decently representative of Zero. It's better than peppy gogo bro dude Zero presented most of the time in the ENG voices. He wears red has long blonde hair, he must have a suffer accent, that's the kind of stereotype I get from that.
DeleteJYB on the other hand, to me is just annoying. I'll leave it at that. He's the best of the ENG bunch tho.
He sounded too darn old and raspy in X7 for being the voice of Zero in IMHO. Maybe he could workfor Solid Snake or Wolverine, but not for some robotic pretty boy who looks like a 17 year-old kid.
DeleteThat's the thing though, despite how he looks (even though I separate with how you view him, and view him more like an angry young samurai most of the time) that is not his character. His character is badass who comes out of no where to eff things up, all while having a calm collected attitude about it. I don't get that sense from bro dude Zero voices.
DeleteI'm happier with the English VAs to be honest. The stage conversations distract way too much from the gameplay, and voice acting would help to rectify this. I was a little worried that there would be more votes for Japanese voice acting, though it would be nice if that was also included for the Japanese players as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd MN0 looked an awful lot like Zero. Not really surprised.
..........
ReplyDeleteAre. You. Kidding. Comcept.
Anyone who doesn't get shades of Mega Man Zero 2 from that monstrosity is fooling themselves. Yes, fine, he's a "Composite Number". But with the head ornaments, the blade weapon, and the cloak, he looks alarmingly (and more than likely intentionally) like Zero Mk. III.
What's next, Comcept? "Mighty No. 8K" with a suspicious Legends motif? Or how about "Mighty No. X", the mass-produced modular robot with no emotions and infinite capabilities, who coincidentally looks like Mighty No. 9 with a scarf and slightly different markings?
*sigh* Inafune... What the crap is wrong with you?
Him being "Not-Zero" is the whole point. You forgot what kind of game is this?
DeleteMn.10(X) would be amazing, I hope it happens.
Oh, oh, believe me. I know exactly what kind of shenanigans Inafune is trying to pull here.
Deletegames not even out yet.
DeleteI would hold your tongue there, bub until we know whats going on with this..no 0.
Only reason I favor Japanese VA is because of it's purity. And by purity, I don't mean simply because it came out of Japan, but I mean the seamless flow between the game character and what they are saying. More often than not, English VA is a janky "patch" that clashes with the game character.
ReplyDelete-ud
Wonder if this DLC character will be constantly pushed down our throats to the point where Beck plays second fiddle to him.
ReplyDeleteSure hope not, but if it's anything like Zero, well...
Rememeber The Battle Network Zero?
DeleteWasn't he the only character from the X series to even be in the Battle Network series?
DeleteEither way, I was mostly referring to the Zero from the X series, since that's where he originated from, and since this DLC is where this new character is originating from.
Colonel and Iris both made the jump, too!
DeleteNo, Colonel and Iris are represented in Rockman.EXE, probably more so than Zero, seeing as they have entire main games dedicated to them and their stories. Colonel is even subtitled in one of the main game's titles.
DeleteActually we don't know if the character is representative of any sort of Zero for sure, and certainty don't know it's influenced from the X series representation of Zero.
Interesting. That Iris was represented doesn't surprise me much considering she is popular for one reason or another. But for Colonel to be represented, that's a bit of a surprise for me. Thanks for the information.
DeleteAs for Zero, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The character is named after Zero and uses a sword, is red, etc. I don't see how it could be interpreted as something not representative of the original Zero design. Unless I missed the point of what you're saying.
What I meant is MN.0 might not be influenced entirely on Zero. He may look mostly like Zero but act like and have a story mostly like Bass/Forte. Also you said that MN.0 seems to draw influence from where Zero originated (the X series) which might not be the case. He(she?) possible might be inspired by Zero as he appears in the Zero series.
DeleteThe comments and like/dislike ratio on that video aren't exactly positive and this has me disturbed. I wonder if people realize that this is a beta...
ReplyDeleteThe video just got the attention of some troll den somewhere, considering the tired old anti-Dina ridiculousness in the comments, among other things. Don't worry about it.
DeleteThey are right about the music though, definitely is no Spark Mandrill.
You are right. They are missing the point: This is only a beta. People, woke up!
DeleteThis music IS bad. Beta or not. Wrong instruments, wrong notes, no feeling. It just sounds unpleasant.
DeleteHere's the funny part this game is suppose to have some of the most prominent composers in Mega Man history (all fantastic composers in their own right) working on it, and we get this. I don't understand it all.
Delete@Hifee
DeleteClearly, $4 million is not enough to pay their people. Which is why they did another Kickstarter.
(I'm being sarcastic, by the way.)
