Way back in June, collectible maker First 4 Figures showed off three prototype Mega Man statues. Now they've announced more details and images for the first statue planned for sale, "Running Mega Man."
"Running Mega Man" will be available in two versions. The "exclusive version" features LED lights (left), priced at $229 and limited to 425 units. The regular edition is a bit cheaper at $199, but only 1,000 will be made (right).
Both statues measure in at 14 inches and are expected to ship during the first quarter of 2015. You can see additional images of the exclusive version here and the regular edition here.
If your wallet hasn't quit with all this Mega Man merchandise coming out, you may pre-order the statue(s) at the links above.
Never been one to nitpick these sort of things, but something about that face just looks off.
ReplyDeleteGuess that's what happens when there isn't really a 3d model to base the statues off of though. I wonder if Nintendo will put out an Amiibo based of the Smash version of Mega.
Hmmm, yea, I'm not feeling this statue and I'm a big fan of First4's statues.

ReplyDeleteThere is something really unsettling about Megaman's face here. I was looking foward to seeing what First4Figure's would do with the Megaman licence, but I think I'll pass....
ReplyDeleteI like it, but would definitely have preferred MegaMan.EXE. It'd definitely fit his anime incarnation since he sometimes glows when Lan uses battlechips. And I think he even has official artwork in that specific pose.

His face is so not right.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not a fan of the face, and I've already purchased two large "official" Mega Man statues this year; the two of them combined don't even add-up to the cost of this ... even though the lighting on this is much better looking.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I (and many other fans) did not like the face on CAPCOM's "Classic" statue, and after everybody spoke-up on the forums it was improved. Maybe First4 can make similar changes, but as it stands now: I think I will pass.
One thing for which I am excited from First4Figures is the possibility of a ProtoMan statue, as they said this MegaMan was the first in a series.
I don't like this statue. But it's cool, the d-arts version is still the best.

ReplyDeleteI've bought a F4F statue before: Ocarina of Time Link. I've been very happy with it and it's decorated my bedroom for the past five years. I don't buy many things like these statues, but when it's a character in a form that I consider important to my past, I have to indulge. So I ordered Running Mega Man (non-lit; I'd never use the light where I'm planning to put it).
ReplyDeleteThe face is a little off. I think it's the black lines near his eyes that aren't working for me. I'm OK with it though. It's close enough. However, if F4F were to improve it, I wouldn't complain.
F4F also sells a Tanooki Mario statue, but I'm holding out for a traditionally costumed Mario with overalls and plumber cap. I get that F4F makes a lot off variations of characters, but I think they should start with the traditional version of the character. I want classic blue bomber, not the red Item-2 variation or gray Bubble Lead version.
4,250 Exclusive? Or just 425? Because the link you gave to pre-order only says 425. Seems like the price would be a bit more justified if there will only be 425 of them worldwide.
ReplyDeleteThe face doesn't bother me that much, but the price point does. Get the price down to $125 for the LED version, then we'll talk. $229 is pretty ridiculous.
