What Are The Chances Of Mega Man In 'NES Remix?'
NES Remix is a jumble of bite-sized challenges based on classic first party NES favorites. Ever wanted to play as Link in Donkey Kong? It's that sort of game.
With the sequel due out in a couple of days, sights are already set on the potential third entry with hopes of Nintendo expanding the series to include third party games like Mega Man, Castlevania, and Contra. There's some real potential for fun crossovers... but what are the chances of that actually happening?
IGN recently pitched that question to NES Remix director Koichi Hayashida. “Well personally I'm a fan of those games, and I like them a lot," he said. “If there's a big enough outpouring of support for these titles, it's something I'd like to take a look at.”
Hayashida is also keen on the idea of Nintendo branching the Remix series out to other platformers with challenges based on the SNES and other legacy consoles. "If we get a big enough cry for that, with a lot of people saying, 'Hey, we'd love to see more of these perhaps for the SNES, Game Boy or Game Boy Advance,' then it would be something we can take a look at,” Hayashida continued.
As we've seen recently, Mega Man is a perfect fit among Nintendo's all-stars. The franchise would be a welcome addition to future Remix titles, I'm certain. All in all, though, it depends on the demands of the players.

Guess it couldn't hurt to start asking Nintendo for things every once in a while instead.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be pretty good at listening.
How about "no chance"? Because it's not a first nor second-party title? Has IGN even seen the list of games included in the NES Remix titles? All first-party titles, with the exception of Kirby's Adventure... which is a second-party title.
ReplyDeleteOn top of that, if they did put Mega Man into... let's say, the third title... then they'd have to also include other third-party games, because the NES wasn't just about Capcom and Nintendo; games like Gradius/Life Force, Batman, Blaster Master, DuckTales, Castlevania, River City Ransom, Tetris, Rad Racer and of course Contra. And that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as great third-party games go.
So... yeah. Zero chance. Unless Nintend EAD and indieszero feel like paying licensing fees out the ass, of course.
The director of the game literally just said there's a chance.
DeleteA lot of people say a lot of things to keep good public relations.
DeleteYes.... of course they'd HAVE to include every third party NES game of quality. And since Megaman and Sonic got into Smash, then of course they have to include every other notable third party game character that was on a Nintendo system. It's not like developers aren't allowed to pick and choose favorites or exceptions or anything.
DeleteSeriously, what happened to you, man?
@Cyberguy64: Why do you even bother? The dude lacks all forms of commonsense.
DeleteHe didn't used to....

DeleteI blame Tumblr.

Oh, I have plenty of common sense. I just tend to look at things with a "glass half-empty" view and assume the worst of people, companies, and everything in between. Again, blame Tumblr. (Though certain assholes in certain communities like this one certainly don't help.)
@Joseph Collins: You're past pessimism and seem like a bitter misanthrope that loves pooping on everyone's parade at this point. You've actually gone out of your way to assume the worst of people that don't even warrant it.
DeleteAnd ya, Tumblr sucks, but I don't see why that has anything to do with you being so negative and toxic about everything all the time (and yes, beyond the point of common sense, which is why people assume you have none).
You're kind of making a bad name for yourself saying the things you always do, and you only have yourself to blame, not some blogging website...
Are you trying to get the game cancelled?
ReplyDeleteIs kinda sad Megaman still stuck as third party addition instead as a main game of it;s own...
ReplyDeleteEven when Sonic 06 did bad, there is still sonic game coming on(and upcoming it;s the cartoon and a new game).
Honestly even if Megaman did get added,I am only happy very little as Megaman now stuck as a beggar for addition instead a game of it;s own.....
Oh not to mention...merchandise and merchandise....
Retro is still fairly "in," and as seen with the Virtual Console, other companies are up to the idea of making some of their older stuff available again commercially on Nintendo's terms. Granted, the VC has not exactly been a shining beacon of selection as of late.
ReplyDeleteI could see them pulling off a 'third party games' NES Remix if there really is interest, but honestly I'd rather they move on to other systems. I have some very fond memories of old Game Boy games and am certain they could give them a fun treatment.
...Only issue is I don't yet have a Wii U, ha ha. Soon enough, though, soon enough.
