A lot of old Rockman commercials have surfaced over the years, but very few have been found in high quality. Time hasn't been kind to VHS tapes, mind you. Thanks to the efforts of a one Giraux, however, we can now enjoy the oldest of these commercials without all that terrible fuzz. Grain free, the very first Rockman commercial from 1987 lives on!
For comparison, here's the original that's been floating around the net for years.
This footage comes to us from "Capcom Consumer Chronicle", a rare DVD set containing all sorts of interesting clips from Capcom's history. It's the only Rockman commercial on there, I'm afraid. Even so, it's reassuring that Capcom held onto it all these years. It leaves me hopeful that the rest of the lot are kept in storage somewhere, ready to be preserved online in the highest quality possible.

EPIC!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I love old promo stuff. Though it bugs me to no end when people resample standard definition video and then claim that it's "HD!!!". You can't get any more detailed than the source material, people.
ReplyDeleteYeah, really. Taking standard DVD video and upscaling it to 720p does NOT equate to "HD". It equates to stupid. But there might be some reason for doing this, as far as the Youtube compression is concerned.
DeleteI don't mind it. Considering the quality can drop when making a copy, it is good to know the video is in high quality (HQ?), even if wrongly called HD.
DeleteBut HD or not, Bomb Man's will always have a derp face...
So much......interlace...........
ReplyDeleteThis stuff would make perfect bonus content for a future Mega Man compilation.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to hear clean versions of the music arrangements used in the commercials for the NES games (especially that FM synthy Heat Man track), but I'm doubting Capcom still has those.
That Iceman is freakin me out.
ReplyDeleteThat's great but too bad that there is watermark on it. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's pathetic. It's not like he made the damn thing. I don't care how rare the DVD is. If he was cool, he'd losslessly rip and upload the DVD images (or at least upload compressed versions).
DeleteYou know Giraux could have just kept it for himself and decided not to post it all. He shared because he's a hardcore MM fan and he knows other MM fans would appreciate it. But please continue your whining about what Giraux should and shouldn't do with the contents of the DVD and how he should upload them....the only thing pathetic here is your display of envy, faggot.
DeleteHE'S USING THE WRONG WEAKNESSES AUGH
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not like a commercial for the game should give you that information. The whole point of the game is to find that stuff out yourself.
DeleteStill, using Fire Storm to defeat Ice Man? It seems logical, but highly misleading as it is actually the Ice Slasher that defeats Fire Man.
DeleteAnd the same happened in the Mega Man cartoon opening...
this looks cool but wily, looks more different than his mega man 2 counterpart and so on
