Comcept has (secretly)
revealed the first gameplay images of
Mighty No. 9's alpha build, providing a small glimpse of what's to come from
Mega Man's spiritual successor. Hit the jump below for three additional images.
It's important to note everything seen here is work-in-progress. These are rough, placeholder assets that are subject to change as we move from alpha to beta. Nothing is reflective of the final product. Neverthless, it's nice to finally look at something that isn't a target render.
"Cliff Hanger."

Inafune after playing the ROM.
RIP MEGA MAN, Beck will carry on your legacy.
ReplyDeleteLooking at these, my initial first reaction is:
ReplyDelete"Holy crap, Beck can grab on to ledges."
Thank you, God and Comcept.
That aside, I really like the juxtaposition of the old-timey 2-D aspects with the modern, "high-quality" models. Even if they are only alpha models and backgrounds and what have you.
To me, at least, it really does look to have a simultaneously old and new feel to it. I like it.
I'm don't know about the rest of you, but I'm excited about this.
About dang time. I was beginning to think they gave up and fled the country or something.
ReplyDeleteMega Man will never be RIP at all!!!! Mega Man will live!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I can't wait for this game!
Mega man will be reborn as beck. its just he cant tell us because he's afraid that capcom might sue him
ReplyDeleteI just spit soda at my computer screens when i first saw these images
ReplyDeleteI'm quite curious about the ledge hanging as well.
ReplyDeleteIt also looks like this could shape up to be quite a colorful game. I like the look of the hud too.
This gives me a real Mega Man 8 vibe for some reason, especially the second and third screens. Not that I think that's a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteThis gives me a Sonic vibe. Look at that DASH ACTION TESTING.
DeleteI was mainly referring to the stage's atmosphere. I think it very much resembles that of Astro Man's stage. As for the dashing part, it seems more Mega Man X-like than Sonic-like, in my opinion.
Delete..people who want see megaman under the ground.....really boring. Megaman classic will be always my favorite serie, i liked EXE games so i like Mighty 9 games too but i wont want see a serie killed for the good thing of an other serie.
ReplyDeleteBe fair guys.
I can't wait for this game. By the way, Megaman classic will always rules and my favorite. I dont liked EXE games. Its bored, really. However, I accepted EXE games because they are still futuristic Megaman to me anyway. :)
DeleteCapcom's the one who's killing Megaman, not us.
DeleteYeah.. Tell Capcom to bring Megaman back and we will have Mighty 9 and Megaman for two different companies. Twice more fun! :D
Deletepeople who continue to have blind faith in Capcom actually doing something with megaman anytime soon.....really boring.
DeleteI keep seeing more and more similarities to Metroid Fusion the longer this goes on.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. As much as I love wall jumping, the mechanic is not very intuitive for many people. It's nice that they're adding a source of vertical scaling that isn't just limited to ladders, which breaks the pacing of the game imo.
ReplyDeleteComcept needs to do a kickstarter to buy the rights to Mega Man. Though I can't wait til MN9 hits beta.
ReplyDeleteI really like the graphical style, so considering this is an alpha build, I already think the final game will look good. Also, does Beck have Sonic feet in the "Dash Action Testing"?
ReplyDeleteWow, the graphics look ALOT like MegaMan Network Transmission for the Gamecube.

Which is cool with me : )
I also agree it has a MM8 vibe. Also a good thing : D
