Every so often Rockman Xover's servers spring a leak and clue us in on future updates. Tonight is no different: here we have a sneak peek of the upcoming "OVER-B" form. If it wasn't clear enough, this one is based on Blues' Rockman EXE incarnation, complete with (what looks to be) an arm-mounted beam saber.
Other Xover leaks seem to suggest a Star Force 3-themed world (which would accompany OVER-B), a new collaboration with Eagle Talon, and a "special" Roll Caskett swimsuit card. I've included that one after the break. It's not particularly work appropriate.

No joke; these swimsuit cards can run for $100+ in real cash. There's the slim chance you can win one for free from a Gacha Ticket or boss drops, however. But even then... man, they aren't all too great. Just look at this pair. Terrible, terrible trace jobs.
For what it's worth, Roll and Kalinka are new pieces of art.

(also, is it just me, or is one of Caskett's arms kinda wonky?)

DeleteTo be fair, the OVER series is a mass-produced robot. They're not supposed to have personality -- at the very least, not initially. Your "Luka" is bound to be vastly different from other peoples' OVER-1.
DeleteIt's kind of like the Chrono Trigger song goes: "R-66Y. That is my name, but you can call me anything." So you can name yours whatever you want, but that's not going to change the fact that the unit is still called OVER-1.

Yeah, it's kinda insulting, actually. If I wanted to see Legends bikini fanart, why should I pay $100 for one card when I can go to DeviantArt and look and hundreds of those, many with superior quality, for free?

ReplyDeleteI rather like the new armor, but then again I've always been partial to EXE's world and characters. And SF3 was (what many would argue) one of the better SF/RnR games so that's pretty cool as well. I wonder what this makes us up to now, we're edging closer to 10 different 'Level/Worlds' and this'll be the 2nd armor based on a past canon character, correct?

And to top it off, one we've already seen fused with another iteration? And to top it off, shameless fanservice that the Megaman series rarely, if ever, uses?

Seriously, why not? Girls play the game, too, right? Plus, Roll and the Mega Man X8 the navigators have all been playable at one point. So why not a female OVER model?
Because Capcom likely wouldn't care enough about their lady audience to give them something as awesome as a female OVER model (trust me, I'd LOVE to see one that wasn't needlessly sexualized).

It's a bit much, isn't it? There are elements of the design I like, but it's going a bit overboard with detail and navi emblems.

The fanservice in these female cards is stifling. $100?! Not only are they resorting to cheap fanservice tactics but they are being disgustingly shameless about it. I don't remember Capcom acting this desperate before. The artwork doesn't even look all that good (holy mother of God, those arms!), but it seems to me they'll do anything to milk as much money from this POS game for what little its worth, huh? Oh, well. People who decide to blow their money on this stupid crap deserve to get ripped off. Enjoy!
